The Elephant In The Room We Are The Elephant In The Room!!! Just keep trying to ignore us!by Dee Ann Patterson

I have been reading coverage of the 9/12 tea parties online. I would like to say that I have been watching coverage, but there just hasn't been too much to watch on the evening news. As I have searched the news, and read the various accounts of the huge crowds at the Washington march, I haven't been astonished at the lack of coverage from the traditional media. Sad to say, I have long ago accepted that the news is being manipulated for content.
I suppose my biggest wake up call was during the Ron Paul campaign for president. I watched as he was ignored during the debates, his message sidelined and replaced by candidates for larger government. It was very clear, and I wrote about it on several occasions at the time. Should you want to read some of that past history search my name or read any of the countless others who were writing on this site at that time.
During Ron Paul's campaign there was a groundswell of people, who came to the surface like cream on milk, that rejected the policies of the past 70+ years, and wanted our country to return to the sensible principles that our nation was founded upon. Most of us did not appreciate what had been happening during the Bush administration, the stealing of liberty, the abandonment of republican principles, the egregious spending, etc
Classifying those that supported Ron Paul simply by our devotion to him as candidate was yet another failure on the part of the media. For most of us had never heard of Ron before his campaign. Our devotion was not based on a rock-star reputation, but rather on policy and principle. The media continuously ignored the growing contingent of Paul supporters who were seeking REAL change in the United States government. Instead the media marginalized Paul supporters, and often demonized them. They have continued the practice even unto this day.
The problem is, that though the media tried to shuffle the people who believe in the principles of government that our founders believed off the stage, after the election that group has continued to thrive, and grow in spite of the ability of the media to control who gets a voice. Through Campaign for Liberty, which was started by Ron Paul, town hall meetings, and outlets for information that began with the campaign itself, we have seen this group grow without a campaign, or a single leader, despite the traditional media blackout.
And so we come to the Tea Party march on Washington, and we find the media, the Democrats, and also the big government republicans still desperately trying to ignore the elephant in the room: [link edited for length]
Sadly, none of the entities in the paragraph above has managed to get "it" yet. What is "it"? Well the "it" that neither the media or Democrats or Big government Republicans are getting is that none of this great grass-roots uprising has ever had anything to do with Ron Paul, or conspiracy theories, or "Birthers" or "Truthers" or racism. Its about POLICY and PATRIOTISM and LIBERTY and the CONSTITUTION, which more and more Americans are recognizing is being trod under by our government as if it meant nothing in the first place. Only to the majority of the American people it STILL MEANS SOMETHING!!!
Since the election, Democrats have mistakenly believed they won the election based on their "fabulous" policies. The big government Republicans are trying to manipulate themselves back into power, and they are having a difficult time because the real reason the Republicans lost was that they failed to keep to their small-government principles. Many are asking themselves, "Why should we put these people back in power when we can take the party back to what it should be???" The media is struggling along trying to hide the elephant in the room!
I wish all of the above groups luck!!! Because WE ARE THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM, and we are eating a lot of constitutional hay! We are growing, and we are not going anywhere, as can be seen by last Saturday's march! In fact, the Democrats, big government Republicans, and the liberal biased media, had better watch out because those corners could become asphyxiating!

Dee Ann, My chart test puts me near yours, however I don't know why, except the common denominator appears to be ,that we don't like the current Administration. I do believe we are the elephant in the room when it comes to main stream media. But I guarantee this Country would be much better off, had Obama lost the election, at least for the next 4 years. Perhaps an argument could be made that Republicans have pooped in their mess kit, but my view is, beating their heads against the wall of a Democratic majority the last 4 years of Bush was not pleasant, and many watching the loss of the majority in 2004 made them Centrists, which turned disastrous in 2008. Ron Paul is a good man, but could not touch Obama in delivering the goods. Obama scares the crap out of me, I have nothing in common with him but being in America.
America would be better off during these 4 years had Obama lost the election. But in the long-term it is good for Americans to realize the other side is not the answer. Republicans lost because we could no longer tell the difference between a democrat and republican. I think finally Republicans are getting it, spend less and the tax cuts pay for themselves. I'm voting Republican in 2010 to get these Liberal aristocratic snobs out. All Libertarians should do the same, LP is a dead ticket.
