Apparently there is no transparency to Obama's Administration. The idea of his speech to the children of America is not the problem. It was the advance direction and the lack of communication to the parents. In fact, it is the parent's duty to set the standard for their children. To show perspective of the situation, children are taught not to associate with strangers until Mom and Dad approve of the safety. To be quite frank with the issue, Obama is a stranger.
If he wants to be a part of the child's life, then let him show true faith. He should communicate through that of the parent. Of all things, he should know about being a parent. I must inquire into the answer he would give, if it were his children. I would assume the answer would be that of a stern, "NO"!
As a parent, I find myself concerned about the issues involving my children. The well-being of a child can only be assured by that of a parent. One, who is not a parent, cannot begin to assume how a child should be raised. Through all stages of childhood, there is a developing individual, in each child. There is no standardized means to raising children, as a whole.
To my ire, the likes of John Harwood (MSNBC/NYT) stating that I am not smart enough to raise my child, he is utterly corrupt in thinking. NBC News (Sept 5, 2009) has him stating, "I got to tell you, as someone who has covered Washington a long time, this is one of the most ridiculous controversies I've ever seen, and so far as I can tell, the biggest danger to kids in this whole thing is a lot of the parents complaining aren't smart enough to raise them very effectively, cause if you think that a President coming into your kids schools saying work hard, stay in school is a danger to your kids, you've got some problems"...
Harwood and his NBC colleagues (Andrea Mitchell & Brian Williams), have all shown their biased support of the President. In what they have called Culture War,they have acknowledged the fact that broadcasting speeches have become an integral part of the Presidential duties. As to the idea that Obama's address to students was "hijacked", I have to wonder what Brian Williams was thinking.
In defense of parents, I have to say, "Leave the parenting to Mom and Dad." There is a special bond between the parent and child. This inherent bond is an essential part of growing up. That goes for the parent, as well as the child. Together, they become an integral part of the citizenry.
In regards to the President's speech (pep-talk), I applaud him. It was the secretive announcement and the issued curriculum, that caused the discernment. The whole matter would have been appeased with more transparency on the issues. This should be a lesson that is answered by allowing the people to be a part of what happens. It will be found that honesty and truth will prevail.
In closing, I will set forth the idea that parenting and governing may seem indifferent. Don't be fooled. Parenting may very well be the most discerning thing imaginable. Though governing might seem more prevalent, it can set forth change. On the other hand, parenting is a life-long duty. "Give Mom and Dad a chance. They will instill knowledge in what is right."
