A highly arguable mantra of the disinfomers of the right (Limbaugh, Hannity et al.) is that the current American health care system is the best in the world. I don't buy that because Americans are a very sick population, with very high levels of obesity, high incidence of cardiovascular disorders and a high level of diseases ranging from diabetes to all types of cancer. Evidently, a health care system that produces a sick population cannot be good.
Even the name is disingenuous, because it is not a health care system at all, but a disease care system. The "health care" professionals actually make money when you are sick, not when you are healthy, but that's another story I will discuss in a future article.
But let's accept for the sake of the argument that the American health care system has produced the best health care in the world. Well, the Italians have produced the best car in the world, the Ferrari. But, how can we explain the fact that having the best car of the world at hand, most people don't drive Ferraris, but Fords, Chevys, Hondas, Toyotas and even Hyundai's? The reason for this applies to both cars and health care systems.
Most people drive clunkers instead of Ferraris not because they are stupid. Of course not. The reason is because not everybody can afford to drive a Ferrari. The car is ridiculously expensive, and very costly to maintain. The same applies to the current American health care system. It produces a relatively good product, but it is so ridiculously overpriced that it is totally out of the reach of more than 95 percent of the American people. As somebody put it, the best and the worst the American health care system has to offer is "extraordinary medical prowess that is too often out of reach for all but the luckiest and best insured." [Tara Parker-Pope, "A New Heart, Tangled in Red Tape," The New York Times, September 1, 2009, p. D5.]
Why most Americans don't buy Ferraris? Because there is no government subventioned plan, a sort of Ferraricare that pays for the part of the Ferrari's price you can't afford to pay. (Wait a minute! Is the cash for clunkers a first step in that direction? Let's wait and see.) Why most Americans who cannot afford to pay for an overpriced health care enjoy it anyway? Because the corporations who control the U.S. health care system, in cahoots with Big Pharma, periodically grease the hands of the criminals in Washington, so the health Ferrari driven by the sick is paid by the healthy driving Yugos.
A few days ago I read an article that motivated me to write this one: "Mexico's Health Care System Lures Americans." [USA Today, September 1, 2009, p. 4A.] According to the article, between 40,000 to 80,000 Americans, most of then retirees, have moved to Mexico for the main reason that they cannot afford to pay the American health care system. But now comes the surprising part; most of them are extremely happy with the switch.
For a flat yearly fee that ranges from $95 a year for someone under 19, to $250 for people over 60, they get an adequate, though not extremely sophisticated, health care system whose benefits include unlimited doctor visits with no co-payment, X-rays, hospitalization, surgery, dental, eyeglasses, etc., with not a penny extra to pay. Some Americans say their Mexican health plan is much better than any they had back at home.
They have good reasons to think so. One of them, a 63-year old retiree living in San Miguel de Allende, had an operation as a result of a motorcycle accident. The Mexican doctors replaced his hip join with a stainless steel artificial one. He is extremely happy with the result.
Moreover, Mexicans buy exactly the same prescription drugs American buy, but at one tenth of the price. Also, given the fact that Mexican hospitals, surgeons and nurses don't make a lot of money every time they perform a liver transplant operation or something similar, Mexican doctors are not interested in prescribing you a drug they know will destroy your liver or any other vital organ.
Mexicans are not forced to pay for an alleged Ferrari they can't afford, but it seems that they are relatively happy driving their health care Honda Civics. But don't think for a moment that Mexicans are forced to buy the health clunker. If you have the money, you can also buy the health Ferrari. There are top of the line doctors and hospitals in Mexico.
I am still trying to understand how most Americans, including many who see themselves as conservatives and even right-wingers, have been brainwashed to accept the Communist idea that everybody deserves the Health Ferrari -- which, like in Castro's Cuba and, very soon in Obama's USA, will turn out to be a health Yugo -- as if it were a fundamental right guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. But any plan supported by U.S. government's money, that is, money the government has stolen from the taxpayers, eventually will hypertrophy into a bloated monster impossible to control. A better example of this than the current U.S. health care system is difficult to find.
Ultimately, the problem with the American health care insurance system -- which nobody is addressing in the present Obamacare brouhaha -- is that the hyperinflated cost of the insurance is subventioned by the U.S. government, and that's exactly the crux of the problem. Given the fact, however, that despite claims on the contrary the corrupt criminal Mafia in our government will never bite the hand that feeds them, far from solving the problem, Obamacare will make it worse.
And don't believe for a second any of the badmouthing of the health insurance companies by the Obamaphilos. This is just smoke and mirrors to confuse and lure the sheep they are about to fleece.
But, WAIT! Don't run for the border without reading the next paragraph.
The same CFR Mafia that has been in control of the US government since Wilson's times has expanded its tentacles south of the border -- don't forget that they are "globalists" -- and are now in control of the Mexican government. As expected, the Mexican government has mentioned its plans to eliminate the country's successful health system.
As they say in Mexico, "La alegría en casa del pobre dura poco." [Happines in the poor's home never lasts long.]

The Mexican health system is as you described and reaches a vast majority of their people in a beneficial way.
Speaking of Italy [Ferraris], they have one of the most affordable and "healthiest" care systems in the world, right up there with Japan. They live long and healthy and the per capita expense is below $3000.
I live in Costa Rica which has a public medical system for the masses and expatriates in residency to use. It is and has for very little money provided adequate healthcare to all here who need it...no exclusions. There are also very reasonably priced private options that provide world-class care to it's subscribers. Oh, and Ferrari's too.Â
Here there are hospitals and medical professionals par-excellence to any country anywhere I would bet. Currently medical care here is being exploited by tenticles both here and from the north that have fully adopted the concept of medical tourism and are marketing that full-bore to the US pitching the reasonably priced care here. Costa Rica is also one of the most beautiful country's in the world to vacation.
I recently returned from the capitol for a check-up and noticed that the very modern hospital from where I receive care now has a new Marriott and high-end shopping mall abutting the property to accommodate those that are vacationing medically.
What a terrific venture for industrious entreprenuers to take advantage of this ripening market. I do though suspect that it won't be long before good affordable healthcare will be only a memory here as well! Mike

 Not being afforded proper legal representation by our U.S. Congress has created a total breakdown of the American judicial system for our poorer Americans because the our U.S. Courts punish all of us little people if we are not assisted with proprer legal counsel.
*It is a known fact that our average Middle Class and Working Poor Americans without proper legal representation in all of our American Courts of law lose their legal cases to the better financed who are able to afford lawyers.
Lawyers For Poor Americans is now actively in the hunt for International Countries and Leaders Worldwide to help raise 5 Billion Dollar$ for our slighted poorer Americans who have had their own American Congress turn their backs on their desperate needs in not affording them proper legal representation.
Troy Davis and Mumia Abu ~ Jamal are 2 perfect examples of American citizens who never had proper legal representation or defense investigations afforded them by our U.S. Congressional Leaders Of The Free World in their initial criminal trials in (Georgia and Pennsylvania) who might very well have to pay the ultimate price of possibly being completely innocent and falsely executed in the near future.
These two poorer Americans are among tens of thousands of legal cases nationwide that never were afforded proper legal representation or proper defense investigations at their initial trials??**We the public really have no idea if these men are innocent or guilty until they both are given fair legal representation at their new future trials.
Improper murder trials and needless deaths due to the lack of healthcare take place in Third World Countries all the time. *** Why should average Middle~Class and Working Poor Americans in the Wealthiest Country Of The World be treated as if they are living a Third World Life Style ??
