The current issue of the Globe, (August 17, 2009), one of the most read supermarket tabloids, displays on its cover a photo of a worried Obama with the headline in big type: "Obama birth certificate is FAKE!" The full story appears on pages 30-31.
I didn't read the article, and I don't plan to pay more than 3 dollars to buy the Globe to read it. Actually, I am sure that most of the information about the subject is correct, and most of it may have been copied right from the pages of WorldNetDaily. But, in the case of supermarket tabloids, Marshall McLuhan's dictum, "The medium is the message," fully applies. What really matters is not that the information about Obama's birth certificate has been published, but that it has appeared in a supermarket tabloid.
I know that most people, including yours truly, have never read a supermarket tabloid, but many people systematically do. Actually some of these tabloids, like the Sun, the National Examiner, the National Enquirer, the Star and the Globe have a relatively large circulation. That's why, since their appearance in the 1950s, they have been used as tools for disseminating disinformation.
When I say "disinformation," I don't mean that these tabloids publish outright lies. Absolutely not. Actually, apart from the flying saucers and Nostradamus thing, most of the stories appearing on its pages come from reliable sources and is as credible as the ones appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, Newsweek and Time (I'm not being facetious, but take it as you wish).
The problem is that information appearing in tabloids is regarded by most people as unbelievable when compared to what appears in the mainstream media. And this is not the result of a mistake, but of a carefully planned and executed design. This explains why the CIA, or more accurately expressed, the people who control the CIA, have been using supermarket tabloids to discredit information damaging to their interests. Proof of it is that, despite its reckless and libelous image, tabloids never challenge the status quo.
The connection between supermarket tabloids and the CIA has been suspected for a long time. Giving credibility to that suspicion is the fact that Generoso Pope, the Enquirer's founder and longtime publisher, was an ex-CIA officer. According to what he once told reporters, he worked on "psychological warfare." What a coincidence!
The power of supermarket tabloids to destroy reputations and careers should no be underestimated. It was an article appeared in the National Enquirer that sealed Gary Hart's political fate. Bill Clinton's push for the presidency in 1992 came close to extinction when the Star published Gennifer Flower's sex stories.
Even President G. H. W. Bush acknowledged the importance of the supermarket tabloids as propaganda tools when, in a letter to Phil Burton, director of the Globe, he stated: "I am especially grateful for the support of all at the Globe Communications for our efforts in the Persian Gulf."
Therefore, it is not surprising that the anti-birthers, out of desperation by the growing tsunami threatening to destroy their clay-footed Mesiah, have resorted to their good disinformation tool, the supermarket tabloids, in an effort to discredit the Americans who are asking him for his proof of birth. But, despite the Globe’s disinformation piece, the birthers are not a bunch of kooks. Far from it, mostly thanks to the efforts of WorldNetDaily’s editor Joseph Farah, they have become a force extremely dangerous to the disinformers’ plans, and that is making them very, very nervous.
And that is the GOOD NEWS!

You're going to condemn the Globe article without reading it? That is pathetic. I'm glad to see you call yourelf a "writer," because you definitely are NOT a journalist!
The truth is the questions about obummer continue to mount! Now there is new evidence about his Fake Birth certificate and that Obama’s mother didn’t live at claimed address in Hawaii when obama was born
The records from a Honolulu title search, obtained by WND, document 6085 Kalanianaole Highway was purchased in 1958 by Orland Scott Lefforge, a University of Hawaii professor, and his wife/companion Thelma Young, who lived at the property and remained owners into the 1970s.
And the Globe is running an article about obama’s fake birth certificate. Granted they’re a “gossip rag” but then “The Enquirer” busted John Edwards in spite of denial after denial by him and all the major news agencies.
The questions won’t go away until obama releases his hidden records. All he has to do is make the following official public statement,
"I Barack Obama authorize the State of Hawaii to release and make public all of my records on file."
That's it. Issue over. But he won't because he's a fraud!! Obama knows that millions of citizens want to see it yet he continues to hide it. What and why is he hiding?
And maybe more disturbing is why don't BHO's supporters want to know the whole truth, especially since there's a reward of $100,000 for proof that Obama is a "natural born" citizen of the United States? The answer is that Obama’s very own supporters also know he’s a fraud!
OBAMA, STOP HIDING. SHOW US YOUR LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND OTHER RECORDS!!!!!
It seems that either my English -- or yours -- is deficient, because you didn't understood anything I wrote about. There is nothing, absolutely nothing in my article indicating that I condemned the Globe article. Please, read my article again.
Or, perhaps the problem is that you are a Limbaugh ditto-head, then there's nothing you can do.
