In politics, the truth is irrelevant!

My guess is that after all of the bull we're getting from this administration, they think we can't recognize the truth anymore.  How many times did Robert Gibbs lie for the President to Bret Baier and the audience of Fox News Sunday this morning?  At least five or six times from my summation.  I don't have Tivo, haven't seen a transcript yet and You Tube hasn't posted a video of the interview to refresh my memory, but from what I can remember, it was probably the most disingenuous interview I have ever seen... here is what I can recall.

First, Gibbs suggested that the President was not aware that he would be asked about the incident with his buddy Skip Gates. Does anybody really believe that this question was not planted by Obama so that he could make the remarks he did in defense of his friend?  How could Obama not have been aware it could be perceived as presumptuous to decide without any facts that his friend was a victim? The answer is simply arrogance!

Also, could anyone believe that Obama hadn't spoken with anyone to confirm in his own highly trained and surely superior mind any details of the perceived offense prior to any of this?  I doubt that as well as I bet he spoke to Gates himself. If so, from the way this has played out I'd bet that was probably a real "honky-jive" moment. All Obama's shallow prime-time comment did was escalate this obvious "I'm a victim of racism" rant by Gates into an indictment against our culture and thwart any gains we have made to change the vile nature of racism and social injustice in this country.  Wasn't he elected to validate a move away from this with his "change we can believe in"?  Many would argue that is why he got elected in the first place.

Here's a good one! Apparently, according to Gibbs, he had not discussed anything with him related to this incident.  When asked if the President had seen the news conference with the Hartford Police asking for an apology, Gibbs responded that he had not as he was busy working in the Oval Office. Does anyone really think that His Majesty didn't tune in from the Oval Office when the Hartford Officers had their press conference critical of him? Anyone?

I'll bet they went into full damage control from that very moment.  Problem was it was to try and control Obama from the very reaction he demonstrated by commenting the way he did during the press conference. Obama probably thought "what's the big deal". They are still in damage control mode about this issue as I write this!

As for Obama trying to downplay and dismiss the issue, Gibbs mentioned that the President knew that his words had "unnecessarily contributed to a media frenzy". He thought it necessary to reach out to the Sergeant and Professor and explain what he was trying to say. Wow, now that's a reach... does anyone believe that? I think he was pimping the press into killing this whole issue!

Here is the only-sort-of-half-truth to come from Gibbs today: He said this morning that the President looks forward to hosting Sgt. Crowley and the Professor at the White House for a beer. I'll bet he is. However, he refused to clarify whether the President believes this is a case of racial profiling. "That's an issue the president has worked on and is concerned about.. I don't think he's come down on one side or the other," Gibbs said, adding "if we can bring them together to discuss what happened that day and if that helps communities and law enforcement work together... I think we'll all be better off." This smell stinky to me... a lie? You decide for yourself, but I have no doubts that it is! After all, only Gates and Obama have said that it was racial profiling!

Why is this still an issue anyway? Well that leads to the biggest lie of all. The truth is again arrogance. The dangerous type of arrogance wielded by the most powerful man in the world. The type of arrogance of one that cannot comprehend that the most damaging impact of this type of behavior is being that way. Ignoring that those you are serving are not ignorant of that fact! In that regard this could be the biggest issue of his entire presidency. This type of behavior contradicts the very nature of how he got elected in the first place. Ironically, all of this could have been avoided and probably still could be remedied if a simple apology is given. The biggest lie of all is to himself. That he really believes that he is above all of this!

Want more lies?  How about the rhetoric and facts they are presenting on health care, cap and trade, money, stimulus, bailouts, the economy and all of the other giant government programs they are concocting!  My observation is; when it comes to politics, the truth is a myth!

Mike

This incident certainly wasn't racism. The f@#$ing police treat EVERYONE this way. Obama was a spineless pussy for backing off on his original statement. What a surprise-police good, citizens bad.

Calm should rule the day in dealing with ANY law enforcement; these people never know what they are going to deal with when they knock on a door in respoonse to a call. A calm demeanor goes a long way to putting them at ease without costing you (or Prof. Gates in this case) anything at all - dignity & self-respect is easily maintained.

So come on... Identity is established, and Crowley's on the way out the door; Prof. Gates chooses to get loud, confrontational and offended??

The issue no longer is, "was a crime committed?" The issue has just transformed into something else entirely, 100% the fault of Prof Gates' ego & elitist sense of self-importance.

This escalated at the sheer ignorance of Gates, and I am actually disappointed the charges against him were dropped.
