Last year, just prior to the Presidential election, Rep. Michelle Bachmann, the Republican who holds the 6th Congressional district of Minnisota, accused Barack Obama of being "anti-American". However, she couldn't make a coherent explanation of why, choosing instead to attack his past association with former radical activist Bill Ayers, using the buzz word "terrorist" to scare people:
Look, being critical of American policies is not the same as being anti-American and to claim that is to lie. That is the attitude of a fascist, not someone who takes the First Amendment seriously. Even Bill Ayers himself is no longer considered a criminal by the law, and hold a respectable position as an educator now.
Bachmann got her history wrong too, attacking Democrats for things that Republicans actually did.
So she lies about Jimmy Carter being President when there was a previous outbreak of swine flu (Ford was still President at that time), lies about FDR being responsible for the Smoot-Hawley Act (FDR actually opposed it, and it was passed under President Hoover) , and also misrepresents the issue of global warming by dismissing carbon dioxide as harmless because it is also natural:
Yes, carbon dioxide is natural. So is animal manure, but it would still be pollution if we allowed it to dissolve in our drinking water instead of using it as fertilizer on our farmlands. Even water is deadly in excessive amounts. That's what a flood is.
I'd like to think that Minnesota has more intelligence than represented by Bachmann. I would therefore propose a recall election immediately. Two more years of this idiot in Congress is too much.

Sorry, Steven, but I'm not so extreme as to assume that Obama is anything close to being a "Statist". I didn't even consider Bush Jr. a Statist, though I did think him a Conservative, which was horrible enough.
If you support the Constitution, how can you be Statist? I'd think the Constitution would make Statism impossible, thanks to the Bill of Rights, and the 14th Amendment.

1. Both Bush and Obama are statists. I prove Obama is a statist in my articles (espectially pt 3)
2. Obama doesn't support the Constitution as I show in my articles (pt 3 again).
If you can refute any single item in any of my Obama articles, I will welcome it. I will correct the article and give you the credit. If you can't refute my articles, then Obama is a statist.
I guess Obama is a statist, according to your broad Libertarian definition. Since I am not a Libertarian, I define Obama as a Centrist (not a Liberal), Bush Jr as a Conservative, and only consider dictators like Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, and Saddam Hussien as statists. Tell me, did Bush Jr. take away our rights to freedom of speech, religion, the press, and assembly? No. Did we have as citizens the right to due process of law, including the option of jury trials and attorneys defending us, during the Bush Presidency? Yes. Were alternative political parties, including the Libertarian Party, allowed to function and run candidates against Bush Jr and Obama? Certainly! Has Obama taken away any rights of ours since taking office? NO! So I don't consider either Obama or Bush Jr to be statists, though I agree that the policies of Bush Jr were horrible and Obama is not doing enough yet to undo them.
In short, to me statism = dictatorship and nothing else. And Obama is not a dictator. If he or any other future President ever tries to nullify the Bill of Rights and become an actual dictator, I will join with you to overthrow him, I promise!

If you still are not convinced that AKAOBAMA is or is not a STATIST, what additional proof do you need thereof? Dictators work really fast to make changes, and that is how a STATIST is too.

I wonder if Joseph Stalin spread the wealth around? Please do not be naive... Experts agree, he did, and thats enough for me.
I wonder if Pol Pot favored one race over another (hate crime bills do that, by favoring protecting one race, gender, sexual identity over another race, gender, sexual identity, religion, age, marital status).

I wonder if we have had Statists in office for the past 20 years based on the facts that George Bush Sr. (IRAQ, Panama), William Jefferson Blythe III (WACO, Bosnia, Iraq), George W. Bush (IRAQ, and Afganistan), AKAOBAMA (USA, AFGANISTAN) has NOT ended war.
Statist will use the terms peace-mission all while forcing our military and resources to spread democracy... Our Contry by the way is a Constitutional Republic, NOT A DEMOCRACY (Statists refer to this country as a DEMOCRACY).

Based on your overly broad definition, either you're a Ayn Rand libertarian who discounts the fuctions of society and government entirely, or you're a statist. A statist is bunk. It's a fancy way of saying totalitarian socialist (a Communist dictatorship), but I fail to see how Bush was a statist. Remember faith based initiatives or No Child Left Behind, which actually ceeded the power of the state? How would cutting corporate taxes during a recession increase federal power? I know it's easy to throw around labels, but did you really think this one out? Are you saying that the President shouldn't do everything granted to him by the Constitution to keep us safe? Were Lincoln, FDR & Truman statists?
The term in and of itself isn't even fully understood or clearly articulated by the people who claim to be statist, so it makes it easy to throw it around. It's the new chick way to say commrade. What kind of person would really want to live under totalatarian socialism or Communist dictatorship?
After reading an entry by a columnist calling himself "Logical Premise" I have concluded that McDuffie is indeed correct. MOST of the Presidental candidates last year, except for Ron Paul, Bob Barr, and Dennis Kucinich, were statist.

Brandon, for you to equate keeping the Federal Reserve and not removing America from the UN with Statism instead of Liberalism makes you a rediculous extremist. And why do you refer to President Bill Clinton as"Blythe"?
