Obama's continuation of Bush's war in Afghanistan is doomed to fail. Here's why by Walt Thiessen

When President George W. Bush first sent American troops into Afghanistan, he planned to have troops bring down the Taliban and capture Osama Bin Laden and his Al-Qaedda followers. At least, that's what he said originally. Later, he turned Afghanistan into an ongoing war. Bringing the perpetrators of 9/11 to justice fell off his list of priorities.
President Barack Obama has indicated he plans to continue Bush's war, with reasons that are no more clear than Bush's reasons. His war is doomed to fail at the cost of hundreds of billions (perhaps trillions) of dollars and tens of thousands of American lives.
How do I know? Take a look at this video report distributed by VBS. It shows a journalist who, with the help of the Afghan government, penetrated the most dangerous parts of Afghanistan to look into their illegal weapons trade. Watch this video! It will make clear to you exactly why the Bush/Obama war cannot succeed.
In essence, Obama plans to continue to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on something that will not help America at all, and will only harm us in the long run. Apparently, Obama failed to learn from the lessons of Korea and Vietnam, just as Bush failed to learn those same lessons.

When I first heard Obama contradict himself and talk about ramping up and dealing with the real war...Afghanistan, I couldn't believe it either. What is it about history as far back as ancient times do they not get? I don't see how anyone can believe that this intervention could possibly succeed either strategically or philosophically. Although I have no taste for liberal policies and politics, I thought that perhaps he might forego some of this insanity. Aside from being enept, this guy has no conscience either!
Walt, congratulations on completing your book and I wish you success. I look forward to reading it! Mike
