Ron Paul And The Fear Factor Fear of change, or a change of fear?by Scott from Oregon

Surrounding the center of Ron Paul’s ideas is a large element of fear. You see it on the faces of his fellow Republicans during debates. You hear it in the boos of the debate crowds when he mentions leaving the world stage militarily and dismantling large governing departments. You hear it in the knee-jerk protestations of pundits and citizens alike, the squirming vitriol and excuse making; like a drunk and a bottle about to be taken away; like any addict and their interventionist truth tellers.
The little old man from Texas is scaring the "whole emotion" out of people all across America.
There will be an anti-Paul uprising coming soon.
His ideas are just that scary.
I was talking to my 73 year old mother the other night. What she heard from Ron Paul is that her social security checks were gonna stop.
"Get rid of income taxes," translated, in her mind, to no checks coming in. The fear of losing her sustenance was saddening to see in my Mama’s face.
"No Mama, " I said. "That isn’t what will happen. Ron Paul is suggesting that we not keep soldiers in Okinawa and Germany and South Korea and Iraq and other places, so that your checks will keep coming in. He wants to make sure you get your money back out that you put in, by making sure the government doesn’t spend your money swaggering around overseas."
"Oh. Well, as long as I get my checks." she said. Mama needed those checks to pay for her well-earned retirement. "I put money into that system for almost forty years."
"You worked hard, Mama."
"Yes I did!"
"And when you broke your leg in sixteen places, and couldn’t work for a year and a half, they came after you to get their taxes, didn’t they Mama?"
"They sure did. They froze my bank account and threatened me, and made my life miserable for a couple of years. I was afraid we were going to be thrown out into the streets"
Again I saw the fear. This time, it was from a bad memory.
"The government sure has you stuck, don’t they Mama?"
"That’s just the way that it is, I‘m afraid to say."

I'm afraid it's worse than that. They asked your mama and mine to mortgage our generation. Now, they're requiring us to mortgage our children's generation into even deeper debt. The problem is the debt is getting so large that no one could pay it off.
My wife has a good reply for your mama. You owe it to your grandchildren to stop voting for your own pocketbook.Â
Ron Paul is the only candidate that makes sense. I am not sure about taking all of the troops out of Germany, but the military definetely needs to move them out of Okinawa, and place them on the mainland of Japan.
It was Germany and Japan that started WWII, not little Okinawa who is being forced to carry the burden of the Japanese aggression. But in a way, that is what the USA wants also, just in a more indirect way. Sure give the government our money, our young men and keep sticking our nose in everyones business that is what most politicians want. Vote Ron Paul.
Perhaps Ron Paul doesn't exist. Maybe he's the fabric of a collective dream. I never hear his name on political news reportage, or see him mentioned anywhere other than online. So either the (TV) news media is in a state of universal denial, or there are a lot of people fantasizing on the internet about an honest statesman who doesn't exist.
Ron Paul does indeed exist, his main obstacle is himself.
He is the perfect candidate except, his image as a tall thin M.D. Gynocologist who looks like Mr Rogers.
The public prefers Image to substance.
When Mr Paul was a guest on the View, Joy Bayer told him to his face that he did not have a chance of winning even though she agreed with his views.
But thats Politics. The public votes for what looks like steak and complains when it turns out to be hamburger.
We get the Politicians we deserve.
