B.O. Delays Troops from Returning Home

POTUS has extended the war while claiming to have ended said war. The Bush/Rice negotiation for combat troops to leave Iraq in June of 2009 has been thrown aside and the date for approximately 90,000 men and women to leave has been postponed until August of 2010.

Our population of citizens seem to have short memories and be easily distracted. Connecting events using deductive reasoning and logical thinking to come to conclusions is a skill lost to our society. The ability to do so with our new president that may put him in negative light is now labeled as conspiracy theory.  This reminds me of the Simpsons episode set in Salem where Lisa can do math and is accused of being a witch.  There seems to be a new witch hunt coming from the White House to distract the masses from reality.

In February 2008, B.O. pledged to end the war in 2009.  Then the statement was changed to the war will end in 2009, proceeded by a 15-18 month troop withdraw.

On August 21, 2008, Rice finalized a plan to pull out of Iraq.

The plan:

  • All troops will be removed from Iraqi cities and villages and withdraw from their bases by June of 2009.
  • All U.S. combat troops will be out of Iraq by 2011.

B.O. tried to derail the plan of pulling troops from Iraq in June of 2008, just after his win of the nomination from the DNC.  He met privately with and tried to convince Iraqi leaders not to deal until he was in office when referring to troop withdraws.

Officially, the story is:

"At the same time the Bush administration was negotiating a still elusive agreement to keep the U.S. military in Iraq, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama tried to convince Iraqi leaders in private conversations that the president shouldn't be allowed to enact the deal without congressional approval."  Source: Washington Times

The Rice deal goes through anyway and is made public Aug. 21st.  Our troops will be home in June of 2009 and residuals will be home by 2011. Source: CBSNews

...until B.O. interferes and the plan changes.

His plan is to leave the 142,000 troops in Iraq through their December elections.  The date to remove combat forces is now August of 2010, leaving behind 50,000 troops that may possibly be home by 2012.  Source: New York Times

Well, there you have it... think of all the troops who voted for B.O. because he vowed to bring them home and got B.S. instead.  They were set to come home this year, just three months from now under the Rice/Bush plan.  Now they are stuck overseas, away from their families for another seventeen months.

But wait... more of our troops are being deployed to Afghanistan as we speak.
