Jan 3 - Iowa Caucuses: In spite of low poll numbers Ron Paul comes in second with at total of 33% of the votes cast, Huckabee wins with 35% and Romney trails in third place with 20%
Jan 8 - New Hampshire Primary: In spite of low poll numbers Ron Paul comes in first with a total of 40% of the votes cast, Romney comes in second with 30% and Giuliani trails in third place with 15%
Jan 15 - Michigan Primary: In spite of low poll numbers Ron Paul comes in second with a total of 35% of the votes cast, Romney wins with 37% and Giuliani trails a distant third with 8%
Jan 19 - South Carolina Primary: In spite of low poll numbers Ron Paul comes in first with a total of 42% of the votes cast, Giuliani comes in second with 25%, Romney comes in third with 12%, Huckabee trails in fourth with 9%
Jan 21 - Former Gov Mike Huckabee withdraws from the Presidential race and throws his massive support behind Rudy Giuliani on the advice of Pat Robertson. Another reason for his withdrawal could be that he has only $1.89 left in his campaign war chest.
Jan 24 - The Republican Presidential race has been narrowed down to only three candidates as the others have withdrawn and pledged their support to either Romney or Giuliani. And despite his low poll numbers Ron Paul has vowed to stay in the race bolstered by his campaign fund of over 30 million dollars raised in several "moneybomb" efforts in the past month. There is a new "Love Bomb" planed for Valentine’s Day which has been organized by Trevor Lyman his most successful fund raiser.
Feb 5 - Super Tuesday: In spite of low poll numbers Ron Paul garners the majority of delegates in the 19 state primaries held today with Romney coming in second and Giuliani a distant third.
Feb 14 - Ron Paul’s "Love Bomb" raises over $50 million dollars from over 3 million separate contributions in spite of his low poll numbers.
Mar 4 - Texas Primary: In spite of low poll numbers Ron Paul wins his home state easily with 62% of the vote, Romney comes in a distant second with 11% and Giuliani trails with 9%.
Mar 4 - Ohio Primary: In spite of low poll numbers Ron Paul wins with 58% of the vote, Romney comes in second with 28% and Giuliani a distant third with 5%.
May 10 - Rudy Giuliani has changed political parties and joined Hillary Rodham as her prospective Vice Presidential candidate says Roger Ailes, the new Rodham-Giuliani campaign manager. Their campaign has been losing steam since her recent divorce from Bill Clinton was announced. It has also been all the talk of the town that Bill has been seen in the company of Liv "The Ron Paul Girl" and this has not helped Hillary’s efforts, in spite of the fact that she leads Ron Paul in the polls by 85% to 3%.
Hillary has been on the election dole and has only been able to attract her share of Federal matching funds as almost all private contributions have dried up, in spite of her huge lead in the polls.
In spite of low poll numbers Ron Paul has steadfastly refused to claim any Federal funds for his campaign which at last report was in excess of 80 million dollars. Paul’s official campaign fund raising manager has been reported to have quipped, "I have no idea what to do with all this money as it keeps pouring in by the bucket full, I guess maybe we should give some of it to charity."
Sep 4 - Republican National Convention at the Xcel Center in St Paul, Minnesota: In spite of low poll numbers Ron Paul is nominated by unanimous voice acclaim to be the Republican Party Presidential Candidate in the general election. The hall was stuffed with delegates and supporters all screaming for Ron Paul who in his speech revealed his Vice Presidential choice of Former House Majority Leader, Dick Armey who retired in 2003 his seat as a Congressman from Texas.
Police from St Paul report that an enthusiastic but orderly crowd of over 5 million Paul supporters have descended into the town in campers, RV’s and anything else which would accommodate them since all living space within 100 miles has already been booked long in advance. It is hard to understand all this enthusiasm in spite of his low poll numbers.
Nov 4 - Presidential and Congressional Election: In spite of low poll numbers Ron Paul wins with 82% of the vote with Hillary trailing with 15% in spite of her massive lead in the polls.
Preliminary statistics show that the voter turn out in the election was about 72% of the approximately 230 million eligible voters. So that Ron Paul received at total of about 136 million votes, in spite of his low poll numbers. This vote total exceeded the total votes cast in the entire 2004 election which were 121 million, this in spite of his low poll numbers.
In important and related news the Democrats took over both the House and Senate firmly. This is believed to be the result of a new movement in the party toward what has been referred to as the "Paul Wing" of the Democrat Party in spite of Ron Paul’s low poll numbers.
There is also a similar movement in the Republican Party which is the only thing that prevented a total rout for the Republicans in Congress.
The Senate is now comprised of 65 Democrats, 33 Republicans and 2 Independents. This is a swing of 16 seats to the Democrats. With the Democrats firmly in control of the Senate and having in excess of the 60 votes necessary to both "Change The Rules" and to overcome "Republican Stalling Efforts" it is believed that the "Paul Agenda" will not have much opposition in spite of low poll numbers.
The House is now comprised of 292 Democrats and 143 Republicans. This is a swing of 59 seats to the Democrats in spite of Ron Paul’s low poll numbers.
Now that both the House and Senate have veto proof majorities if necessary and it will be interesting to see who will be elected to serve in the leadership of both bodies. These elections will be held shortly and will tell the future direction of legislation.
As the result of elections in both the House and Senate we can announce that in the House the new Speaker of the House is Rep John Murtha (D-PA), Majority Leader is Rep Charles Rangel (D-NY) and House Whip is Barney Frank (D-MA).
In the Senate the new Majority Leader is Sen Jim Webb (D-VA). Assistant Leader is Bernard Sanders (I-VT) and Speaker Pro Tempore is the ever present Robert C Byrd (D-WV).
The New York Times/NBC polling unit has been discontinued in spite of its high poll numbers.

Nice article, but do you really think democrat majorities in both houses would ever vote to eliminate a single government agency, as suggested by Ron Paul? Not in my lifetime.
Because it would have made the article too complex I did not specify which Democrats were elected to Congress, their were many "Paul" Democrats (and Republicans) elected to replace their former party favorites. I used Charlie Rangel and Barny Frank in the House leadership to demonstrate the type of political change that had occured and also because their names are well known.
Besides, I actually respect both Charlie and Barney who are at the same time smart, tireless and PRAGMATIC.Â
You may think that these things "may" be difficult with a Democrat controlled Congress, but I say a big NAY.
I remember well [I'm an old fart] the Congress and Ronnie Reagan in 1981 and his tax changes in spite of Dan Rostenkowski as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, and of course the friendly battle ground bewteen Ronnie and Tip ONeil the Speaker of the House.
Remember, there is NOTHING as powerful as an idea whose time has come.
Bravo, Jim! I'd have to say that my favorite part is that Jim Webb will be the new Senate Majority leader. Below is his offices response to my email about the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 (S. 1959):
Dear Mr. Fabio:
Thank you for contacting my office regarding the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 (S. 1959). I appreciate you taking time to share your thoughts and concerns with me.
I agree with you that we must protect the freedoms and liberties we enjoy under the Constitution. The Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act establishes a grant program to prevent homegrown terrorism in the United States. This bill would also establish a university-based center to study domestic terrorism and explore methods to prevent domestic terrorist acts. Proponents of this bill argue it is necessary in order to protect citizens of the United States from terrorist acts committed by U.S. citizens. Opponents, however, argue this bill is too vague and could compromise a number of our civil liberties by giving government too much discretion in determining what constitutes "terrorist" behavior. Currently, this bill is pending in the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. I will closely monitor this legislation to see that it strikes an appropriate balance between protecting homeland security and protecting civil liberties.
As the U.S. Senate debates legislation pertaining to civil liberties and homeland security, please be assured that your views will be very helpful to me and my staff. I hope that you will continue to share your views with us in the years ahead.
I would also invite you to visit my website at www.webb.senate.gov for regular updates about my activities and positions on matters that are important to Virginia and our nation.
John Murtha was the first regular Democrat to criticize the war In Iraq. He was "almost" elected Majority Leader, but Nancy Pelosi put the kobash on that one. And as a result the Dems altought sepecifically elected to end the war have done nothing.
Jim Webb was elected as a Dem even though he was Ronald Reagan's Secretary of the Navy. He has [or had?] a son fighting in Iraq and was most outspoken on this issue. He is a no-nonesence guy who will get the job done.
We think that under a Paul Administration the Congress would be unresponsive, but I have a very different take on the matter. If Ron Paul is elected by the most massive landslide in this country's history I have a feeling that those members in Congress would not only take note, but would be so intimidated at the thought that the People had united, for the first time in a long, long time, behind a man with such strong convictions as Ron Paul.
I feel that Congress would be far more pliable than we think and would scramble to save their collective hides by supporting the drastic changes President Paul would implement.
Ron Paul represents about a thousands times the threat to the status quo that Bobby Kennedy did. He didn't make it to nomination, let alone the election. Paul's supporters better be figuring out a way to keep the man safe. And Paul's supporters better be registering to run for Congress themselves if Paul is going to have any chance of a successful presidency. A Democratic congress would only end in impeachment.
