Ron Paul Could Save America and So Could You

Ron Paul's Supreme Court Choices could shape America for generations to come.

I have not read or heard much about the single action Ron Paul could take as President that could end up saving America for generations to come. Most Americans do not recognize the choice made by a President that has the longest impact of all his decisions upon each of us. That choice is who is nominated to the Supreme Court.

When everything else is said and done, when the lawmakers have passed their unconstitutional laws, and the citizens have used the judicial system to challenge said laws, the fate of the law ultimately rests upon nine individuals who are not elected, cannot be fired and have the final word. There is no appeal of a Supreme Court decision. The only way around it is a Constitutional amendment. Our last meaningful amendment was passed in 1971 giving 18 year olds the right to vote.

Gerald Ford served as President from 1974-1977. It is unlikely that anyone under the age of 40 remembers Gerald Ford’s administration. Yet his choice for the Supreme Court, John Paul Stevens of Illinois, is still sitting on the Supreme Court, participating in decisions that affect our freedoms, our rights, and our life today.

Ronald Reagan still has two of his nominations serving on the Supreme Court, George HW Bush has two, Clinton two, and George W. Bush two.

Today’s court has many controversial decisions decided in the end by one vote leaning this way or that way. Is it really possible that if the court is following the constitution that the decisions are that close? No. The Supreme Court has gotten into the business of shaping law as they see fit, even citing cases from around the world as reasons for their decision. The only document they should cite in their decisions should be the Constitution.

If the court consisted of nine liberals or nine conservatives, the decisions should be the same if they followed the Constitution they were sworn to uphold. Republicans and democrats do not score Scrabble differently from each other because the rules are clear. If the Supreme Court followed the Constitution's clear instructions, we would certainly have fewer 5-4 decisions in the future. But this court will not do that.

If Ron Paul becomes President, and has the opportunity to seat just one Supreme Court justice who is a Constitutionalist, then that might be just the push we need to move our country back towards it’s roots. If Paul were able to seat two justices, then the balance of power could be shifted for the rest of my lifetime and for most of the life of everyone of legal age today.

Paul’s Presidency would be an uphill battle, as we all know. There would be opposition from both sides of the Congressional aisle as Paul vetoes one bill after another as unconstitutional. But Congress would eventually get the message. And a stale-mated Congress has always been good for the economy. But to have a lasting effect upon this generation and for those generations to come, a Supreme Court shaped by Ron Paul would be just the thing the Dr. orders to cures what ails us.

Or you can give one of the other republican candidates the chance to shape your life for decades to come. Only we have no idea what their criteria would be for a Supreme Court Justice. In polls, Paul shows he can beat Obama and Clinton in a head to head contest. If Paul does not get the chance, what would a Clinton or Obama choice look like? Could you possibly see Bill Clinton on the Supreme Court? He would not be the first President to also be on the Supreme Court.

You can save America by giving Ron Paul the chance to take action. The choice is up to you. The results we will live with the rest of our lives.
