After all the killings and destruction since 1948 in the "Holy Land", we must do all we can to undo the systematic brainwashing of the American people that has been done for many decades by Christian fundamentalist leaders and propagandists. As far as I'm concerned, they are mass murderers by proxy!
First, they claim that Israel's founding was a fulfillment of Bible prophecy and thus will lead to the return of Christ and the establishment of God's kingdom. They must claim this because so many prophecies in the Old Testament referring to Israel were NOT fulfilled in ancient times, therefore, they assume that these prophecies will be fulfilled in modern times with the new state of Israel. But that is nothing but a rationalization.
Second, if you read what Jesus actually said in the Gospels about his return, then certain events were supposed to take place, then he would return while the generation that saw him alive still lived. Indeed, the destruction of the Jewish Temple in AD 70 and the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 could be seen as fulfillments of what Jesus said, but he did NOT return. So why would some Christians still be waiting for his return nearly 2000 years later? And linking his return to the JEWISH state of Israel is absurd, period!
Third, and worst of all, many Christians see what has happened in the Middle East since 1948 as a reenactment of the ancient wars described in the Bible, where many atrocities were also committed. Indeed, the Book of Joshua describes a long campaign of conquest and genocide that would be compared with what the German Nazis did if it happened today. And that is the main reason most fundamentalist Christians are not bothered by the wrongdoings of Israel because they think, "Such things were done in Biblical times and were said to be God's will, so why not let them happen again?" That's a bit like expecting a teenager to wear diapers long after he has outgrown them and been potty trained. This is one reason why I am sometimes so contemptuous of religion: It actually prevents people from growing up spiritually and morally.
And Palestinians, you are not blameless either! You, just as Israel, have murdered far too many innocents in the name of your religion and your nationality. If I had my way, I'd sweep both you AND the Jews off the "Holy Land" and allow that land 100 years of healing before I ever allow any people to live there again. And then only atheists and agnostics, who would treat the land and its history move objectively than any Jew, Christian, and Muslim would.
If you want to see just how stupid the mentality I described just above can get, just go to a library and check out The Late Great Planet Earth by Hal Lindsey, and its several sequels that this despicable fraud wrote in the late 1970s and 1980s. He was using religion to promote hard-line Conservative politics, and for that alone I will spit on him forever!

You could be a skeptic and that is fine. The analysis is incomplete. Does hate for Christians cause this? Wouldn't a skeptic present the total picture?

Garry Haralambou, don't be so irrational. I said nothing about exterminating anyone. Just removing people who refuse to get along with each other and separate them so they don't kill each other and bring more dishonor to the land they claim to be holy.

You might note that more atrocities have been committed by atiestic societies run by communist and nazi leaders than by all Christians throughout the ages. Not to mention, there are thousands of Christian organizations that build hospitals and help people in undeveloped countries with schools, technology and food. What have athiest done? You may not believe in God, but you are a religion all the same with you own belief system. It is an anti-God religion. And most all ungodly societies are also always anti-semetic.

Time will tell if Mr. Lindsey is correct in his insights. Everytime you watch the news, he looks more on target than you credit him. Watch now as Israel will discovers one of the biggest oil finds in history. Just read Deuteronomy 33:13 and 33:24. Google Zion Oil & Gas. What's more, another company found a huge gas deposit off of the coast of Haifa.

Assuming that was a serious question: I'm sure that Europe would be quite happy to take most of the Israeli Jews, since it lost so many during World War II. And the United States could take most of the remaining Palestinians. Yes, it is unrealistic to propose that. But do you really think the present situation is any more realistic?

Falsehood. Atheism had nothing to do with the mass murders of Communists and Nazis. Most Nazis were either Catholics or Lutherans and Hitler himself was raised Catholic. Communism is an economic ideology that would have killed people even if it had been squarely based on Jewish or Christian principles, because it was FANATICISM that killed people, not just religion or the lack thereof. That so many people were killed in the 20th Century is more a product of higher technology making the mass killing of people easier and quicker than any advance of atheism.

Another fallacy. Christians have done more around the world because there have always been more of them than atheists. Atheists do not lack compassion. What they lack is the numbers and material resources to do as much as Christians have done.

He was speaking of HIS OWN GENERATION! If you read the entire New Testament for what it says (and ignore all the bogus commentaries by fundamenalist writers, including Hal Lindsey), it clearly indicates that the early Christians expected the return of Christ and the new kindom of God within a few DECADES. That it didn't happen by 100 AD should have been enough to falsify the whole religion.

You are funny. Of course there is some oil and gas near and around Israel! So what? It doesn't prove that Hal Lindsey is not a fraud, because he got so many other things WRONG! The Soviet Union fell apart, and it never invaded Israel.

Nice personal attack. You know how silly it is to try to diagnose my spiritual blindness and closed mindedness? Try being a bit more honest in the future, for you are not as enlightened as you think. Until you are willing to consider the possibility that you've been lied to, it is YOU that is blind and narrow minded.
