Does Obama need expert help to sell stimulus to America?

It seems that Obama's experience prior to taking office is lacking sufficient sales experience. Could Billy Mays have helped coach our president on how to effectively sell the enormous stimulus package?

As president Obama clearly struggles to convince many rational Americans that we need to spend MORE ungodly sums of taxpayer money to fix a problem that itself was created due to bipartisan government incompetance(thanks to our "ownership society" and our "federal" reserve), I can't help but wonder how he could have been more prepared for this seemingly new role for him.

I believe that Obama is lacking proper sales techniques and skills that would greatly aid him in his quest to enlarge the federal government. If I were advising the president during his barnstorming campaign to sell big government like so many vacuum cleaners or encyclopedias, I would bring in some certifiable experts in the field.

Billy Mays has successfully hawked Mighty Mend-It, OxiClean, Awesome Auger and Lint-B-gone on television, among other less notable goods and services. The time has come for professionals to help Obama sell socialism. This arduous task will require the ability to convince people that their own common sense is a hindrance to their mindless embrace of a new idea/product. The idea may not be as simple as Mays' earlier conquests in salesmanship, but it can be sold nonetheless, akin to "selling ice to an Eskimo."

I find it insufficient to have our president hawking a product which indeed does NOT sell itself, and he isn't even wearing the wireless headset ensemble. If our government is going to be pitching poorly conceived products to us the least they could do is borrow some best practices from the established world of infomercials. The administration clearly feels as if they do not need to work any harder than normal to get what they want, hence the "we won" mantra and the permeating ego that accompanies it.

In truth, I am glad that our president has not taken the above recommended course of action. I am thankful that his inability to sell this bloated, wasteful plan may result in better legislation or at least better use of tax dollars in the plan. I would be impressed if Obama is able to convince us all of the vast merits of the plan, but would be more so if we, as citizens, finally learned from human history rather than ignore it. This may be a reflection on the levels and areas of economics that public schools teach more than anything else.

Nevertheless, it would it be funny during a CNBC break from propoganda to hear "Hi, Billy Mays here with an awesome new philosophy that every liberal democracy simply must have: gigantic government programs to ensure that free-market solutions will never see the light of day! Watch as I take a centuries old market-based economy and convert it to a tyrannical system dominated by corruption, political favors and lobbyists...right in front of your eyes! Transfer of wealth has NEVER been this easy folks, so call the number listed on your screen and you can pay for this in installmants of infinitely increasing payroll and inflation-based hidden taxes."

That's right folks, and to get this wonderful package with its ability to destroy nations, erode wealth and impoverish entire populations, all you have to do is . . .

NOTHING!  Just sit there quietly.  Don't call anyone, or grab you credit card (we already have it).  Sit still...look the other way if you must, but don't DO anything.

Soon the wonderful bliss of Socialism will settle around your neck and suffocate any lingering thoughts of ambition and initiative.  They are useless and dangerous remnants of a soon-to-be-forgotten period in the history of the world.

OK, that Zamphyr music is my cue to say good-bye.

Pitch it once and they might, pitch it often and they'll think it is right.  Pitch man Obama does have the advantage of being able to fly all over at taxpayers expense during this economic crisis...the cost of marketing is extremely high.  The cost of buying this mess is well scripted by Jahfre.
