Most people have the preception that "pagan" religions, especially those with ancient roots in polytheism, are inferior to monotheistic faiths like Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Many pagan religions featured worship of the Sun or a god that was thought to control the Sun in its travels in the sky. Should we think this irrational?
The Sun is the source of light and heat, without which we would not survive. This is self-evident. By contrast, we have no way of knowing even the existence of the God of the Abrahamic religions, let alone what He does for us.
We see the Sun every day and we can invent rituals that are based on the movements of the Sun that make perfect sense to the followers of Sun worship. No one has seen God, at least that we have confirmed and the rituals connected to Him in the Abrahamic religions seem to have no relation to natural needs. Is it rational to believe in what cannot be seen?
All things in the Solar System revolve around the Sun. It also has 99% of the mass of the Solar System, and science can directly access it. We cannot access God via science, and thus we've had constant conflict between science and religion as a result.
I would therefore suggest that Sun worship should eventually replace the Abrahamic religions if we are to renew the spirituality of the human race. Then mankind would become more firmly united and at peace and science would advance more rapidly. Imagine what our lives would be like if everyone on Earth were sun worshippers. No more arguments over dogmas or rituals made up by priests to appease a God that does not speak for himself, but appears to speak through prophets who may or may not be telling the truth. No more scriptures that are claimed to be infallible but in fact are deeply flawed. Issues of sexual behavior would have no ties to religion, making the dealing with those issues easier and more realistic. Of course, the sun also causes storms, heat stroke, and sunburns, but at least we would understand the reasons behind that, instead of wondering why our "god" was either punishing us or allowing such evil to occur to us. And we would STILL have something to center our lives around, day by day, and year by year. Many people have a natural need for such rituals for the sake of self-discipline, and we should find ways to accomidate those needs.

I'm not sure where you get the assertion that science would progress easier without monotheism - I can see that it's not based on any scientific observations! You must have a lot of faith in that statement if you added it as a reason to revert the accepted worldwide religion to sun worship in an otherwise intelligent, funny article. I suppose that's what it is - many of Jesus' own sayings are too intelligent for people to lose faith in the incorporeal Zues. The bible, koran, and torah aren't entirely worthless - and the ethics they espouse are easily understood (because they're obvious with or without God), which is why the followers hold onto them as the absolute truth. I could be a follower too: I'll just ignore all the violent, cruel, and corrupted aspects of the books like everyone else.

I already do worship the sun , and have noticed its great power . ever try to rippen or harvest a crop in the cold . We need to call on the Sun god for more of the worlds energy needs .
But.... There is NO salvation for man in one of God's creations. The sun is under God's command, as is the stars, moon, and oceans. You will eventually find this out... But, like a lot of other people,when it is too late... God tells us that; "Salvation is found ONLY in Jesus...I'd say, Jesus is the one to get to know while on this earth! And besides, he was the only person that defeated death!
I don't see why the sun can't be thought of as a point on the dimension of God. It is the way that God is realized in our lives. Worship of the sun is really our first commandment. We should all seek it and utilize it as much as possible. If God is dependent on time-space continuum (and why not?) then these lights in the sky may simply be the points at which he is materialized in our dimension. God may be more or less than these points of light, but they are nevertheless enough to keep us alive, if nothing else.
I don't feel any religion should replace any other religion, I like most people just the way they are, I don't even know who or what most of them worship.
Want to know more about who GOD is? You need to be studying Near Death Experiences. Look for the commonalities of shared experiences from all cultures and races and it is there you will find something you can put your finger on or just have a NDE yourself and you will be closer to the true nature of all things.
