Barack Obama on Gaza and Mumbai - Hypocrite Extraordinaire It is just going to be too easy to "Deep Fry the Barackcuda" during his Presidency... it's almost as if this guy is George Bush!by Jake Towne, the Champion of the Constitution

On January 20th, America will spend $150 million taxpayer dollars to inaugurate Barack Obama's regime, which dwarfs the $43 million spent at King George II's and the $33 million spent at Clinton's. Americans expecting "Change" are hardly expecting their "Chains" instead. Right on cue, the Israeli army claims a ceasefire is in effect, although their army still brutally occupies Gaza, with at least 700 of the 1,300 dead civilians. Wouldn't want to have Obama's joyful anointing interrupted by a little bloodshed, would we? Wouldn't want to have another bombing of more United Nations buildings or children in a schoolyard while Obama is swearing to obey the Constitution, would we now?
"The president-elect is closely monitoring global events, including the situation in Gaza. There is one president at a time, and we intend to respect that."
- Brooke Anderson, chief national security spokeswoman, 1/3/2009 (Chicago Tribune) while Barack wearing shorts and playing golf in Crawford, TX - I mean Hawaii.
"President-elect Obama strongly condemns today's terrorist attacks in Mumbai, and his thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the people of India. These coordinated attacks on innocent civilians demonstrate the grave and urgent threat of terrorism. The United States must continue to strengthen our partnerships with India and nations around the world to root out and destroy terrorist networks. We stand with the people of India, whose democracy will prove far more resilient than the hateful ideology that led to these attacks."
- Brooke Anderson, Chief National Security Spokesperson, 11/26/2008 (change.gov)
The Barackcuda repeated the same condemnation of terrorism, along with, in fairness, the "There is one president" spiel on 11/28/2008. But my point is made. Apparently, if Hamas or the IDF are doing any terrorizing, it merited only silence from the President-elect. Obama is a hypocrite with a silver tongue, not a leader.
"I urge you to ensure that the Security Council issue no statement and pass no resolution on this matter that does not fully condemn the rocket assault Hamas has been conducting on civilians in southern Israel…
"All of us are concerned about the impact of closed border crossings on Palestinian families. However, we have to understand why Israel is forced to do this… Israel has the right to respond while seeking to minimize any impact on civilians.
"The Security Council should clearly and unequivocally condemn the rocket attacks… If it cannot bring itself to make these common sense points, I urge you to ensure that it does not speak at all."
- Senator Obama, January 2008 to UN Ambassador Khalizad (barackobama.com)
"Those who threaten Israel threaten us. Israel has always faced these threats on the front lines. And I will bring to the White House an unshakeable commitment to Israel's security... I will ensure that Israel can defend itself from any threat - from Gaza to Tehran."
- Barack Obama to the AIPAC Israel lobby, June 4, 2008. (barackobama.com) So, it's "with-us-or-against-us" just like George, eh?
"Defense cooperation between the United States and Israel is a model of success, and must be deepened. As president, I will implement a Memorandum of Understanding that provides $30 billion in assistance to Israel over the next decade - investments to Israel's security that will not be tied to any other nation. Going forward, we can enhance our cooperation on missile defense. We should export military equipment to our ally Israel under the same guidelines as NATO."
- Barack Obama to the AIPAC Israel lobby, June 4, 2008 (barackobama.com) (Photo link with General Petraeus over Iraq)
"Barack Obama and Joe Biden strongly support the US-Israel relationship, a bond that is mutually beneficial to each country as we share common values, histories, and a dedication to democracy. They believe that our first and incontrovertible commitment in the Middle East must be to the security of Israel, America's strongest ally in the Middle East."
What about Iraq, any "first priorities" there? Where in the Constitution does it say we must commit to the national security of Israel? They are armed to the teeth and quite possibly the world's third most powerful nuclear power. Somehow, I think they will be OK.
If any doubt remains try watching The Truth About the 2009 Gaza Massacre and decide for yourself. Enjoy the truth while those who thrust it in your face remain unsilenced. This may not always be the case. Speaking for myself, some will not go down The Road to Serfdom quietly.
The propaganda program Obama will shortly launch may easily become the most complex and massive in the history of mankind, and if he's smart he will start with his own web pages. But at least he means well.
Cynthia McKinney and the Israeli Attacks on the Dignity and USS Liberty (The Gaza Slaughter 4/6) Published: January 4, 2009 The recent episode of Cynthia McKinney's defenseless ship getting rammed by the Israeli Navy reminds me of the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty some forty years ago. The story of the men on board the USS Liberty is one that every American should be fully aware of when discussing the Middle East and Israel. And who are the real heroes?
Ron Paul and I Stand Alone on Gaza and Israel (The Gaza Slaughter 5/6) Published: January 4, 2009 Although outvoted last year in the House by a vote of 404-1 on the Gaza situation, Ron Paul declared America's tacit blessing for other nations to start violence preemptive wars as intolerable. I agreed in an article on Kosovo where our embassy was attacked. But did you know some Israeli IDF soldiers agree with us?
Deceptions: A Short Essay on Labeling (The Gaza Slaughter PART 6/6) Published: January 5, 2009 Some thoughts on how labels are used in conversation by human beings and in propaganda by governments, the media and other groups or individuals. If I may be so crass as to quote Shakespeare in Hamlet, "Words, words, words."
Ron Paul Shows Some Outrage (The Gaza Slaughter - Epilogue) Published: January 11, 2009 Congress votes (again) 390-5 to wholeheartedly condemn Hamas and support Israeli military aggression. "This is not in the interest of the United States; it's not in the interests of Israel either." - Ron Paul

Jake I agree that Obama is a hypocrite but sadly in the political arena this is way its played. Our political leaders have to stand with Israel 100% because other wise they are chastise by both the left and right as anti-semites, terrorist sympathizers, etc.

Thanks for writing back. Yes, politics as usual!! No "Change" there! And watch out for "anti-Semite"!! This pretty much means "anti-Arab" so if you are anti-Semite you won't like the Israelis OR the Palestinians. :)
one can research the term, "anti-semite." it was meant as a pejorative term to denigrate jews. thus, the rhetorical value of it's appeal by arabs used to deny any charge leveled against them as anti-semites, is merely that: rhetorical. hence it's a misnomer. but it's also a misnomer in another sense. semitic is an adjective that refers to a language family from the historic "middle east." it does not refer to people, save rhetorically. with that being said, it's denotation had an exception made some 140 years or so ago, in germany in an attempt to denigrate jews. but only in the most extreme sense of hyperbole should the term anti-semite refer to arabs. there was a movement in jewish circles to refer to those who dislike jews as judeophobes, as it would be more semantically, historically, linguistically, correct, plus with greater specificity. so if you hate jews and want to be unambiguous...say "i'm a judeophobe!" :)
w/that said, obama is absolutely a hypocrite re: the middle east and the civilian casualties. my guess is he will continue to do what all goo marionettes do: move in harmony w/the strings.

Nicely stated Jake. The only way any progress will be made is through the emasculation of the Israei Lobby. If Presidents have to be 100% behind it, then what use are they? It's not only Israel that calls the shots in Washington, it's a very long list ranging from Big Pharma to the Defence industry and Wall St.. The lobbying interests should be thrown out of Washington like Money Lenders from the Temple. If the connection between Power and Money is not broken, things will never change. Looking at the system from an Irishman's point of view, I still stand aghast at the fact that Politicians are legally able to accept bribes disguised as "Donations". I thought Ireland was corrupt to the core but at least their "donations" are hidden in brown paper bags under the table.

wanted to capture acomment from a reader and my reply
R: Wow, I just tore through that. I imagine you're right, Jake. I'm pretty disgusted with the pre-existing relationship between Obama and AIPAC. If Israel holds to a ceasefire only for the effective duration of the inauguration and party (basically) I think I might actually hurl.
Me: buy a bucket. no, I think they will just keep their troops there for as long as they wish and if they think they can get away with it, the IDF is fully capable of turning the area into Sadr City/Fallujah. If they were to withdraw it would seem as if they are bowing out, and they are too arrogant for that. Although, and this is sinister, it would be funny to see Obama speak up after all the slaughter is over, and then see the IDF withdraw. He would seem like a real hero to the masses, wouldnt he? Would you like a little bread with your circus?
i'm really sorry to kee belaboring this point; but small regional powers have historically, and currently, been beholden to the greater regional, and now global (super)powers. this is still the case today, as israel did NOT achieve it's goals. it's obvious goals (beyond acting to keep this conflict brewing) nationally speaking was to wipe out hamas and bring fatah back in power. that's why israel had egypt and much of the arab world turning a blind eye behind closed doors. the western powers in teh UNSC closed that door w/the cease fire (just like every other military conflict that israel has won, but diplomatically lost). israel engaged in some self-sabotage as well w/some of its operations. there is little doubt in my mind this was designed to end in a stalemate, meanwhile increasing not only local tensions, but world attention (for what may just be the spark plug for the coming world war). who knows what will happen, or when, but just understand that israel did not achieve its goals and the world powers need that conflict for their goals. read kissinger's doctoral thesis and know that EVERY israeli leader goes through his office EVERY visit to the US.
