Barack Obama Appoints Socialist Carol Browner as Global Warming Czar (PART 1/2) The veneer on the Barackcuda's real agenda has worn thin even before he takes office.by Jake Towne, the Champion of the Constitution

Previously on this site I have avoided articles centered on religion, Israel-Palestine, and global warming even though I have very strong views on these three "taboo" topics. This column started off as antiwar and will remain focused on monetary policy for reasons I explain in the Money Matrix series, but recently I have felt like writing about the Gaza situation and now about Global Warming theory. C'est la vie!
Part 1 is on the Browner selection, Part 2 is on climate change theory.
President-Elect Barack Obama has named Carol Browner as Global Warming Czar. I confess I have no idea why naming unelected individuals to a made-up, unconstitutional office post and then giving them the nickname of an aristocratic Russian emperor is such a beloved tradition with US presidents - drug czars, poverty czars, terror czars - the American people have seen them all and quite frankly they all have not done much. Obama has really shown us his true colors by, among many other "stellar" picks, retaining Bush's Secretary of War Robert Gates, making former Israeli Defense Force mechanic and Civilian National Enslavement proponent Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff, and a lifetime bureaucrat, the 70-year-old Leon Panetta as CIA Director who has zero CIA experience unless he was undercover in the House of Representatives for the 16 years and for 4 years as Clinton's Chief of Staff, in which case he sure fooled us! Now we have outright socialist czarettes placed into power!
Now, just to defend my claim that Obama made up the position, his August "New Energy for America" Plan has no mention of Browner's post per my home page, my.barackobama.com. Now here is the Obama's announcement text:
The scope of the effort before us will demand coordination across the government, and my personal engagement as President. That is why I'm naming Carol Browner to a new post in the White House to coordinate energy and climate policy. Carol understands that our efforts to create jobs, achieve energy security and combat climate change demand integration among different agencies; cooperation between federal, state and local governments; and partnership with the private sector. She brings the unmatched experience of being a successful and longest-serving Administrator of the EPA. She will be indispensable in implementing an ambitious and complex energy policy.
Ms. Browner belonged to Socialist International until 2008 per the Washington Times. SI is an umbrella group of many socialist groups worldwide. Controversially, she was one of 14 SI leaders of the Commission for a Sustainable World Society, which calls for "global governance" and says rich countries must shrink their economies to address climate change. Browner served as head of the Environmental Protection Agency under Clinton (has anyone else been noticing just how may of Clinton's goons are returning?)
SI's mind-numbing 7,000-word statement of exactly 100 principles includes some things I agree with such as the banning of capital punishment. However their whole idea of globalized democratic socialism has been proven disastrous over the past century. Hitler was the last guy to make a decent stab at changing his national socialism into globalized socialism. Plus, if one studies government, democratic governments tend tumble rather quickly into revolution and then oligarchy or totalitarianism. One should not forget the definition of socialism as fellow Nolan Chart columnist Gene DeNardo writes here: "Socialism is the ownership of the means of production by the state or a collective."
Socialist International has many other questionable principles. Perhaps my favorite is principle 14:
"Justice and Equality. Justice means the end of all discrimination against individuals, and the equality of rights and opportunities. It demands compensation for physical, mental and social inequalities, and freedom from dependence on either the owners of the means of production or the holders of political power."
This is like something straight out of Ayn Rand's short story Anthem, whose starring character was named Equality 7-2521! Fortunately, I have nothing to worry about since I was born inferior to Obama's half-white, half-black skin and his aristocratic social upbringing, and I am a lot dumber than Browner, who can probably utter long lawyerish sentences. They will compensate me for being dumber, stupider, and unequal to others, and if I mangle my arm a little bit, I will get compensated for a physical inequality as a bonus! Notice how SI claims the downtrodden will receive "freedom" from the "owners of the means of production" (isn't that THEFT, not "justice and equality?) and also from the "holders of political power," which, in their global vision, would be none other than Socialist International.
Browner's newly created post does NOT require Senate confirmation. A rough resume is available at Wiki. Browner was also a member of the Audubon Society and Al Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection. The one outstanding fact from her resume is that Browner, like most other socialists, has never created anything of value for the human race. She is a bureaucrat, no different than a Communist apparatchik. Ms. Browner graduated from college with a degree in English, then obtained a law degree.
Browner served as head of the Environmental Protection Agency under Clinton the male. Is anyone else noticing many of Clinton's goons are returning?
The Wall Street Journal reports that Browner's third husband, former NY Congressman Thomas Downey is a lobbyist for a firm he co-founded with former NY Congressman Ray McGrath, called the Downey McGrath Group Inc. Downey is a professional lobbyist who has lobbied for firms like Exxon Mobil and Chevron. Somehow, I'll bet Downey's business has been picking up!
Statists and socialists like the Barackcuda desire control over our lives and typically will unceasingly assert that the loss of our liberties are for the "greater good." History teaches us that if faced with opposition, deceitful propaganda, coercion, and even violence will be their primary tools. Ask Stalin. Ask Hitler. Ask Mussolini. Ask Mao. Ask King George Bush II. Ask Jose Padilla.
Change we can believe in? Make no mistake; these are CHAINS we can believe in!
Join the rEVOLution! Why? Well, for starters, we don't marry professional ex-Congress lobbyists!
PS I will applaud Obama when and if he closes down Guantanamo and returns any prisoners who have been wrongly held and place the remainder on trial. I do think a few tidbits of mercy will come about, which hopefully will also include much stronger actions against slavery and torture. However, I point out that both of these are what are typically regarded as typical Western civilization civil liberties (habeus corpus and physical pain/death), common decency and priviledges; they are not supposed to be gifts from a benevolent master.
Anthropogenic Global Warming or an Ice Age, Which Is It? (PART 2/2) Published: January 15, 2009 Barack Obama just crowned socialist and environmental regulator Carol Browner as our Climate Change Czar. Propelled by her English degree, Browner is a vocal proponent of Anthropogenic Global Warming Theory. What if her pet theory is wrong?

So the new prez is going to put a socialist in charge of solving a non-problem. This is ought to be good. Let's see how much pain she can inflict on the people while trying to fix something which is not broken.
Great, but didn't poeple know, that Obama was standing behind socio-communistic movement. America wanted a change. Start with wealth redistribution (controlled by those who try to evade taxes) and end with community services (sorry, but kibutz is a voluntary organization, kolchoz - is so called strictly voluntarily - if you refused to join, you would end up dead or in a GULAG).
King is dead, we will crown a new king. And I don't want him to succeed, I don't want United Socialist States of America. I am not gonna throw shoes at him, but I will respect him, though will never wish luck.
When I was a child and a teenager, and lived in USSR, I always wandered, how those socialists didn't want to come to live in SU to build that bright future, though they could, and we couldn't leave to USA, though we wanted. Why some people want to destroy most adaptive socioeconomical structure (recent decades of socializing capitalism showed to be disastrous). The only answer is they operate using slogans to attract masses, while building their own wealth and power (middle man gets screwed). They scream that we all are the same, just they (politicians) are more equal than others.
My other question, what will he transmorf healthcare into? Medicaid enrollment is flying through the roof (it pays 10cents for the dollar). Who will cover the difference? I doubt that king will change liability system as well (he is a lawer), which promotes defensive medicine.
This is still the best country to live, but its so aggravating to see it going down the tube.

Dear Art,
Yes, it will be interesting to see what happens on that end... I think Obama-Biden are dead set on sprinting through their first 100 days, we should probably see more stuff on the economy first though.
It would be pretty interesting to hear your kibbutz or USSR stories one day :)
Dear Gene -
Like I said, unless Panetta has been undercover this whole time :)
Just saw that Gietner the new SecTreas from the FED "forgot" to pay $34,000 in taxes to the IRS. Oops.
Jake, I'm not down with socialism but drawing a line from Browner to Hitler and Mussolini is just hyperbole. They were fascists, worse than socialists or communists. And socialism is more properly defined as being between capitalism and communism (see Merriam-Webster). You suggest that just because Obama and Browner want to address our contribution to global warming, they are fascist beasts bent on enslavement. Government is supposed to take action based on the best information available. On the issue of global warming Obama and Browner are going by the scientific consensus. In case there is any doubt about the consensus (say...based on Inhofe's list of 650 "scientist" dissenters), see this link.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change
Every scientific body of national or international standing agrees that global warming is happening and we are contributing to some degree. What are Obama and Browner supposed to do....use the conclusions of all the reputable science bodies or use the rantings of people like Senator Inhofe?
Here's some perspective that should destroy these comparisons to communism or worse. This is from the Socialist International founding document:
"International Communism is the instrument of a new imperialism. Wherever it has achieved power it has destroyed freedom or the chance of gaining freedom. It is based on a militarist bureaucracy and a terrorist police. By producing glaring contrasts of wealth and privilege it has created a new class society. Forced labour plays an important part in its economic organisation."

Dear Justin,
Thanks for writing back, and I checked out the link you sent. I do hope I am amazingly incorrect, and you have a very valid point that comparisons of Obama to Hitler, Mao, and Stalin are an exaggeration - at this point. Jose Padilla could not say the same of soon-to-be Mr. Bush. I did edit the article since I do agree on reflection to not include Browner in that statement.
I do not claim anywhere that they are "fascist beasts" just that they may cause harm and I do not quote Senator Inhofe, to be fair its the first I have heard of him. I appreciate the references but I dont appreciate putting words in my mouth.
Socialism (defined as above, the ownership of the means of production by the state or collective, define your version if you could) is not exactly evil, it's just a really bad idea that worked a lot worse when implemented than crony capitalism in the last century.
Especially in such times, we have to be very careful to not take the Road to Serfdom per this short Hayek cartoon.

Also try reading this if you want on the Fabian socialists Just because the rallying call is for Welfare State right now does not mean it wont degrade into gulags at some point.

Thanks a lot for writing back, I respect your point of view and I will think further on it,
I appreciate your rationality and apologize if I was putting words in your mouth. You are correct....you did not say they are fascist beasts although there were some pretty strong implications. Regarding Senator Inhofe, I brought him up because many people are using a so-called list of 650 "scientists" who he claims are dissenters against the global warming consensus, even though people on that list have stated that Inhofe misrepresented their positions.
Anyway, I\'ve signed up to be a columnist and would welcome your feedback in the future.According to the chart I\'m in the Libertarian camp, which may surprise some when they read my first article (waiting to be published) titled "In Defense of Green Stimulus."
