Topic: Presidential Campaign 2008
Repeat After Me: "Ron Paul
Is NOT Electable!"

Ron Paul is not electable. He's obviously a long shot! A Ron Paul Presidency isn't going to happen! There's no way....[ We interrupt this message for a very important announcement! ]

"Ron Paul Is Just NOT Electable!" -

Ron Paul is "not electable." Ron Paul "doesn't have a chance." Ron Paul is "not a mainstream candidate." "He's a long shot." Ron Paul is a "spoiler." If you vote for Ron Paul, you'd "might as well vote for Hillary." "We've gotta beat Hillary, and Ron Paul will never get the Republican nomination." "Ron Paul won't make it - that's what they're saying in the circles I run in."

If phrases like these come immediately and unbidden to your mind, please take an honest look at your thought processes. Can you look yourself in a mirror and say without flinching:

"The notion that Ron Paul is "not electable" is original with me; I arrived at it by careful consideration of all the evidence."

Can you honestly say that? Or is is possible that you may have been, ever so slightly, influenced by the outside forces that have come to dominate our culture?

Turn off your TV! Turn off that radio! When you hear Sean Hannity speaking, get out your earplugs! Forget Stephanopolous. Flip the channel if you've accidentally tuned in Michael Medved! Close the paper on Mona Charen. Increasingly, it is the likes of these who are losing what remains of their credibility.

Cancel your subscriptions to Time magazine, US News, Newsweek, and whatever "news" paper you happen to read - you know, all the rags that ignore or try to dismiss what's really happening?

"He's a kook, fringe, unelectable, long shot, no chance."
"More money than any other Republican candidate? Doesn't matter! He hasn't got a prayer!"
"Ron Who?"
"Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain."

Fellow Christian, do you really think you're getting news from World magazine? The first time Dr. Paul's campaign received record donations of $4.3 Million in one day, World printed a tiny mention of the man, buried in the back of the magazine. Is that reporting? Open your eyes!

If you want to prove to yourself that "traditional media" is seriously distorting your world view, try this simple test:

Take a drive around your city and see for yourself all the Ron Paul signs! Who are those people at the mall, on the street corner, and why do they stand there for hours waving to you and holding up those signs that say "Hope for America!" ???

How about that "political nut" at church - you know, the one with the Ron Paul button and the signs on the side of his car. You know who I mean! Why is he so passionate about Ron Paul? Is it possible this Ron Paul guy has more support than you've been allowed to see on the TV?

There is another, better way to get real news. It used to be that we would tune in to short-wave radio to get real news. Today, we can simply log on to the internet. Why not try it?

Look, up in the sky! What's that, a Ron Paul blimp?

Watch the videos, admire the creativity! Read the blogs. See the artwork. Listen to the music. Count the money! Tune in, for God's sake, and for America's sake, and witness a movement for liberty unprecedented in recent American history!

NONE of this massive support for Dr. Paul -- you can see it with your own eyes -- was manufactured by a Corporatocracy!

NONE was generated by the Ron Paul Campaign!

ALL of these efforts are spontaneously generated by a rapidly growing legion of people, people like you and me, people excited to the core by the idea of LIBERTY!

Now, after personally considering all the evidence, can you still say with a straight face "Ron Paul is not electable?"

Maybe it would be worth your while to read a little bit about Ron Paul and his message of Freedom, don'cha think? Then, register or re-register as a Republican and get out and vote to make Ron Paul the Republican nominee for president!

This is all very nice and inspiring, but unfortunately one's electability is not determined solely by what is real, but by what the public believes is real. And that belief is brought to the unthinking masses by the MSM, like it or not. Unless more (a lot more!) people learn about the man, and soon, his electability will remain unlikely. (As terribly sad as I feel about it -- just FYI, I'm a huge supporter of his and "converted" more than one person.)

Nice reminder of the hypnotic effect of the media though.

I support Ron Paul all the way!! I switched from being a democrat just to support him. All these college kids who ususally never vote because they were more concerned about getting drunk or in someones pants will be voting for the first time. Why do you think they call it the Ron Paul revolution.

Same here.. Even in my own circle of friends he is all I am hearing about. Kind of a coincidence that we are all talking..yet we are just being left out of the "real" polling (whatever that means).. He made it to the front page of www.CNN.com/politics today, which is good! Although, yet again it is becuase of his $$, and not his ideas...

I have to admit, I'm concerned, by the media's lack of connection with Congressmen Ron Paul. They can't interview the man or talk about him with out first saying "Long shot", "dark horse", "Fringe" candidate.. I'm afraid all the sheeple out there who buy into everything they hear on the t.v. and radio, will never give Ron Paul the chance he deserves. I honestly can't help but to think, if the media showed Ron Paul the love they show some of these other candidates, he'd be through the roof on the 'polls'.. I'm still hoping for big surprises come the primaries..

The people or organizations that claim Ron Paul has no chance are basically saying he has already lost... is it possible these are the same people who claim if you say the war is already lost you are unpatriotic... it seems the rules only apply to the "establishment" when it serves their purpose. I am ashamed of our government, media, and corporations... Ron Paul gives me hope for pride in America once again... Live free or Die!

As others have said, I too have switched my affiliation, in order to vote republican in my state's primaries and to vote for Dr. Ron Paul. I hope, and I pray, there are enough folks out there, who can think for themselves, who can see past the 4 second sound byte that passes for debate in this country. I wonder why we don't have a congress full of Ron Pauls ?

Excellent article Dann.

I would only add that a very real measure of Ron Paul’s electability is the number of registered Republicans that will vote for him in primary elections, and caucus attendees who become Paul-supporting delegates.

People who support Paul, but are not registered Republican, attend caucuses or vote for him in primaries do a Paul an indirect service in public awareness and acceptance, but that service is negligible compared to active participation.

I strongly encourage all Paul supporters to make sure they’re registered Republican and that they understand and attend the primary functions in their state.

Ron Paul is as electable as we make him.

"REPEAT AFTER ME:...."

- They'd like that, wouldnt they? Folks, THIS^ is exactly what it sounds like when fascists come up against freedom of opinion when it threatens them.

The hard truth here is that we are seeing how useless the polls truly are. They are nothing more than a tool of manipulation the media and establishment uses to bend your opinion, and to convince large numbers of people to vote for someone other than whom they TRULY agree with the most- to force upon the lazy-thinking masses an arbitrarily projected "winner" and herd all voters like cattle in one direction or another...just as long as neither of those directions actually threaten the status quo.

They are keeping up this act of being totally baffled at the disconnect between Paul's national polling numbers....(lets keep in mind here that 1: The 6.6% of registered Repubs who voted for Bush in 2004 in no way represent Paul's total likely range of support...and 2: Paul's name is often not even mentioned as a choice in these landline-based polls)...and his support on the ground but the explanation is fairly simple:

- The Republican party is in decline by any measure. They have sold BS for the past 7 years and the people arent happy with it. Many republicans even swtiched to vote for Kerry in 2004 out of disgust with Bush. Assuming a candidate has a true "big tent" appeal...such a candidate's appeal would accordingly be distributed over a far wider group of voters than just "republicans who voted last time for the most unpopular Republican president in decades."

- To act like those who voted with a straight face for either Kerry or Bush in 2004 somehow even remotely represent the pool of likely voters this time around is downright idiotic. Why? Because this time around you have a a strong black candidate, a strong woman candidate, and Ron Paul (whose uniqueness and surprising appeal speak for themselves).

Thanks Dann for another great article on Dr. Paul. I was at Faneuil Hall on Sunday for the Tea Party Rally and the place shook with enthusiasm for Ron Paul. How many other candidates can draw at least 600 people in the middle of a Nor'easter, during a Patriots home game! NONE. And Dr. Paul wasn't even there, though his son, Rand Paul did a great job and sounds just like him. After standing on that hallowed ground and deafened by the chanting of "RON PAUL", all I can wonder is "how do these other guys even think they are going to get the nomination?" They must be reading their own polls and sipping their own Kool-aid. Ron Paul has inspired a Revolution of young Americans, some new to politics, who are intent saving our nation. It is viral, contagious and downright glorious!

Well said... There are those who would try to squash peoples hopes of a true American being president. Ron Paul stands for everything that makes our country great: civil liberties, sound money, no foreign meddling, small government, FREEDOM, national defense (not world police), and Dr Paul's voting record is arguably the most consistent of any other serving in a position of office. Ron Paul is going to win! The polls are wrong, the money is right; with the Paul administration we can finally take back control of our country from those who would use the country to control us! We are finally weeding out those in the media who would blatantly deceive the American public to trick us into false thoughts, like "Ron Paul can't win the Republican nomination". This is simply not true!!!

The article lost me when it said, "He's a long shot." Ron Paul is a "spoiler." If you vote for Ron Paul, you'd "might as well vote for Hillary." "We've gotta beat Hillary, and Ron Paul will never get the Republican nomination."

People shouldn't vote because they don't like someone or their messege, but should vote because they like what they hear and they want that man (or lady) to lead this nation.

I could not believe what I just read on my Google alert about Ron Paul not being electable, someone was fixing to get a faceful. I figured it had to be someone running disinformation.

Before Ron Paul my opinion was vote for " None of the Above"

And I pray daily for this man's life that he in fact makes it all the way.

Do they honestly think we are that dumbed down/stupid and can not see the sharade going on behind the scenes.

Oh yea! I would still like to see a real picture of the airplane that they claimed hit the Pentagon anybody have one of those pictures?

Sincerely,

Sick & tired of being sick & tired.

Ron Paul cannot win and this I surely know. It's true and can't be doubted, since the TV tells me so.

If Ron Paul wins a poll, then it's spam and just for show. Should he lose, it's scientific. The TV tells me so.

I am a Ron Paul supporter, however I do have a concern or two about the implications of some of his proposals. If we do away with the FDA, and the EPA, who will be there to punish ecological bad actors? Who will set sea-catch limits? Who will set emission standards for companies to abide by? Who will come down on them when they abuse the law?

Some would suggest the answer is allowing the public to buy it up making it private. My problem with this is that you won't be able to hunt or fish without having to shell out $5000 a year on a membership that allows you access to "private lands". Worse yet is that such places will include spots you and your family have fished and hunted for years.

I'm for Ron Paul. My only comfort is that he is a strict Constitutionalist, and as such, will not run rough-shod over the will of the people as conveyed by their representatives in persuit of his own monocular agenda. I just hope that our country doesn't have to be privately owned in order for us to have our constitution back.

And then... from inside the net... from the sky...  out of nowhere. A voice of reason. Hope. A breath of fresh air.

A gentleman patriot comes to save the nation! Alleluia!

I smell the fresh cut grassroots of freedom, in the distance the torch of liberty is flaming. Don't let it get away from us for I see light.

Dan I just wanted to scream in your faces! I won't take this anymore. We have been bamboozled by both parties! Lied to our faces. Our government is fat and bloated and all I get are clones of the same candidates from both parties. Our Dollar is in crisis and all I get are articles about a white supremacy donation! Out of 18 Million Dollars a $500.00 donation is what you write about. I thought what the hell is wrong with you writers? The dollar is being abandoned in all the countries in the Middle-East! You can't give them away! When the country elects a Democrat the dollar will be so devalued how do they expect to pay for the "free" medical coverage? Dollars? Ha! I just wanted to scream! Thanks Dan I won't scream at you.
