Barack Obama is Irrelevant to the Israeli Invasion of Gaza

For as long as two or more religions exist they will attempt to exterminate each other, somewhere, every day for eternity. Religions provide good cover for self-ascribed peaceful men to commit bloody mayhem against those they fear without having to suffer the burden of conscience. Obama cannot change any of that.

I am neither pro-Israel nor pro-Palestine. I am neither pro-Christian nor pro-Islam.

I am pro-peace, pro-diversity, pro-tolerance and pro-individual liberty.

When opposing sides of a conflict deliberately act to avoid peace, diversity, tolerance and individual liberty I view all the participants as enemies of human betterment and advancement by virtue of their being proponents of the status-quo. This goes equally for leaders of nations whose decisions result in continued warfare and for private individuals who act to impose on those who disagree the belief that the state owns them.

Obama is just another figurehead in the eternal war between the Judeo-Christian faithful believers in the bible as the word of god versus the followers of non-bible (or anti-bible) based faiths. In this centuries-old conflict, the race, words and party of the leaders are irrelevant. Obama is nominally the pending commander-in-chief of the Judeo-Christian warlords but, in fact, the conflict would proceed pretty much the same if the world had never heard of Barack Obama.

The invasion of Gaza was pretty much a given after the November election of Barack Obama. There is no way I will believe he didn't know this full well. Israel knows it must conclude operations by the end of January or risk straining relations with the US; which is simply not an option. This window of opportunity wasn't a surprise to anyone who has been paying some attention and who understands more than the last few years of the conflict's history.

A new history of current world conflicts is written every few generations or so, allowing the living to latch onto fresh outrages rather than to attempt to carry the same original grudges for thousands of years. Most humans believe history began with the events that led directly to their first political awareness. Thus, they can be easily manipulated by those who understand the nature of this eternal struggle.

The world is watching this reality TV war. Youtube is providing the means for everyone to watch. The current challenge is to crush and eliminate Hamas in less than 3 weeks. If Israeli forces can accomplish this then Team Israel will get a year of fun in the sun before the next major challenge, Allah willing. Plenty of time to ensure Obama's support is unwavering. This is a far more stable strategy than to test Obama's support on the day he is sworn in. Obama is the Tiger Woods of reality TV war and the internet war-O-vision. His endorsement is essential in the eyes of the bible-based forces in the field today but not to the long-term course this conflict takes.

The eradication of Hamas is merely the Christian world's leaders advancing a pawn against a pawn during a well-defined window of opportunity. Both of these pawns are driven by fanatical religious convictions and deep cultural fear of each other so the outcome isn't assured when these pawns meet. The question of their being sent against each other was never a question of "if" but "when".

So the tension rises, the viewers are on the edge of their seats. The anti-war Obama supporters are wondering what the hell is happening. Hamas is making Baghdad Bob style proclamations of their invincibility and Israel's annihilation. Internet advertisers are counting hits on the war-O-vision. Obama plays his part as if he had a choice. Hillary announces an end to "cowboy diplomacy" just as we shift to "U.S. Cavalry versus Sioux Nation diplomacy". Ehud Barak and company proceed with the extermination in pursuit of that lull in the action which could follow. Meanwhile weapons get expended, equipment suffers depreciation, windows get broken and somewhere a factory gets new orders for bullets and body bags. The USA dives head first into Socialism as a desperate attempt to wring every last drop of wealth and initiative out of the country and direct it toward this unholy eternal crusade.

Warlords aggressively leverage fear as individuals suffer the consequences of empire building, socialism and jihad on an escalating scale. The lamentably lauded caretaker of the Great Depression, Franklin Delano Roosevelt once said that "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." His message, that fear is the necessary and desired condition regardless of any distinct cause, has become the modus operandi of both major political and all the tiny third parties as well.

The way I look at it, the only thing I have to fear are the consequences of the behavior of people who believe fear is the necessary and desired condition on which human beings must base their actions. Why not chose not to fear? Instead, how about acting in ways that demonstrate fear is not the necessary and desired condition from which to make decisions when the goals are peace, diversity, tolerance and individual liberty. When one gives up the fear-based belief system to pursue these more desirable goals they are suddenly cognizent of workable solutions to previously intractable problems.

Once the blinders and veils are removed the free market of ideas will begin to flourish mankind can finally exit these long dark ages into a much better future...or we can continue to crash and burn in regular cycles from now till eternity as we defend our faith-based limitations, and the oppression they require, to the death.

As an optimist, I fully believe we can exit this cycle one day. As a pragmatist, I believe that will certainly not be anytime soon. As a critic of the empire I don't think it matters one bit what Obama does or does not do about anything. The self-imposed limits on his view of the world constrain his actions into the narrow band we've been following all along. There is no change available through any of his likely options.
