Ron Paul and I Stand Alone on Gaza and Israel (The Gaza Slaughter 5/6)

Although outvoted last year in the House by a vote of 404-1 on the Gaza situation, Ron Paul declared America's tacit blessing for other nations to start violence preemptive wars as intolerable. I agreed in an article on Kosovo where our embassy was attacked. But did you know some Israeli IDF soldiers agree with us?

It is amazing how much difference a year makes. Besides thanking the 100,000 readerships for helping me shake off some serious cobwebs out, the key person I need to thank is Dr. Ron Paul. Shortly following one of my first articles, where in prophetic terms, I threw up my hands and concluded that Kosovo was just a "real MESS," Congressman Paul had the sole nay, as he so often has done, in House Resolution 951, which was a condemnation of "Palestinian rocket attacks on Israeli civilians."

In March 2008 he said:

"As one who is consistently against war and violence, I obviously do not support the firing of rockets indiscriminately into civilian populations. I believe it is appalling that Palestinians are firing rockets that harm innocent Israelis, just as I believe it is appalling that Israel fires missiles into Palestinian areas where children and other non-combatants are killed and injured.

"Unfortunately, legislation such as this is more likely to perpetuate violence in the Middle East than contribute to its abatement. It is our continued involvement and intervention particularly when it appears to be one-sided that reduces the incentive for opposing sides to reach a lasting peace agreement."

Well, as most are aware, Israel, under the cover of darkness, began a land assault into Gaza yesterday. Here is what Ron Paul had to say in this Campaign for Liberty video:

Ron Paul2"Even though Israel did the invading of Gaza, we, the United States, will be blamed for it. And there is some truth to this because Israel depends on us. They depend on us economically; they depend on us for their military power and all their weapons. And they really got a green light from our administration. We have not said one word about the plan to go in, the plan has been there for a few weeks and everybody knew it was going to happen. So we are participants. It just means that we have just antagonized the Muslim-Arab world even more so than ever before and unfortunately we will suffer the consequences from this.

"But there is no benefit for us to be involved in this fight over there. This thing is an entire mess. The Palestinians are virtually in like a concentration camp. They have a few small missiles but it's so minor compared to the firepower of Israel who has nuclear weapons. They can turn off all the food, all the water, they can do whatever they want to the people of Palestine. And yet, we are going to have to accept some of the moral responsibility for this." (photo)

Congressman Paul then goes on to discuss Iran, Syria, and returns to that other powderkeg, our economic crisis. Dr. Paul predicts that 2009 will be marked by the reluctance of parties to buy new Treasury debt and eventual inflation.

However, I wonder if Ron Paul knew about the 550 members of Courage to Refuse?  These are Israeli members in the IDF who by their statement here have refused to take part in aggressive military actions into the settlement and non-Israel area, claiming no part in oppression or occupation. [Note that this site is under heavy hacker attack, so some links may not work, but I have taken it as genuine since other organizations like If Americans  Knew refer to Courage to Refuse.]

I wonder if Ron Paul saw this 60 Minutes special (Part 1 & 2) where they claim that there is an internal power struggle occurring between the orthodox fundamentalist Jews and the secular Jews. Strange, eh? Looks like democracy (rule by the many) at work! Perhaps a constitutional republic similar to that of the Constitution of the United States would work for the Israelis?

We can even give our Constitution to Israel to try for a little while; we don't seem to be using it much.

again..here i agree with both of you. except that dr. paul doesn't state that destabilization is the name of the game. our empire is in the business of divide and conquer. israel is part of that game and plays a very important role for our empire-building/maintenance. they play the same game we do on a local/micro level. the palestinians are actively and historically exploited, neglected, and terrorized by Jews & Israelis, by Arabs and Muslims, by Christians from both East and West, and by themselves. their leadership does not tell them that the money comes in to keep a constant state of mitigated warfare. hamas was created by the shabak and the US. fatah was easily contained there, despite having europe as its benefactor. corruption is the key. I believe hamas was brought into power to justify a regionalization of the conflict (bc hamas directly gets its funding and munitions from lebanon, which gets its help from syria, which is ultimately supported by iran, which gets much of its help from russia and, STILL THE US). In other words, I view hamas's comign to power as a potential straw that will break the camel's back allowing for the anglo-american power brokers to achieve their geopolitical goals in the region (using israel, turkey, and the kurds) to neutralize the Franco-germanic power base of syria, lebanon, and iran. ultimately this will yield (as shimon peres has told us for nearly two decades now) into a "new middle east" (for a new world and a new world order). the middle east is undergoing the same geopolitical consolidation of power that the US/Can/Mexico is under what is likely to be the NAU (north american union). europe has alreday begun this process, obviously, but seems that it will have significant changes in times to come. dr. paul, i'm sure knows this. moreover, he stated publicly that israel does not makes moves without the US permission (as you noted above). in other words, israel does almost nothing without the approval of its major benefactor and partner in crime. but israel is not an island. it was created to be the necessary spark for the power brokers' consolidation in the coming global conflagration.

Hey Jake, I've been scanning through some of your pieces. You are very prolific.

It seems like you got turned on to libertarianism and are just running wild.

By "running wild," I don't mean to say that you don't "get it," because I mostly think you do. I mean that you have learned so much and read so much and written so much...so fast.

Am I right?

You also have a major 'tude don't you? Yeah, well I think you do; I wouldn't want to be at the receiving end of one of your rants, ala Bob Barr. I can relate. I even went off a little bit on Ron Paul in a letter I once wrote. Anyway...

In order to further the interests of freedom, I would like to give you two sources, a brief explanation of them, and one concept. You will be able to ascertain the authenticity of all of it and you will know what to do with the information:

Source One - Peter Eric Hendrickson, and his book, Cracking the Code.

You will find in his book, and at his website, losthorizons.com, an atomic bombshell of information that could essentially shake the nation to the roots if it were widely known. Jake, this information, though incontrovertible in my assessment, is nevertheless so hard to accept that even the Austrians cannot accept it. Also see

http://www.lewrockwell.com/ostrowski/ostrowski79.html

As you will soon see, it isn't the only time they have turned away from new information/scholarship because it didn't agree with their prior perceptions - in other words, if they, meaning their intellectual mentors Von Mises and Rothbard, didn't discover or believe in a thing, then that thing doesn't exist in the minds of the current Austrian community, or if it does exist, it must be automatically attacked and ridiculed.

I'm not going to detail it in this post, but here's a url to one of  my articles that provides a decent summary. I'm having a tough time inserting links on this board for some reason.

[link edited for length]

If you, or any other person that I approve of on this board wants a free copy of the book, I have several extra and will give them away till they run out. I just need the addresses to send to.

The Austrians, despite their amazing, unparalleled scholarship in so many areas of life, are not perfect. They have weak areas. Legal expertise regarding the federal income tax is one such area. Below is another, a real doozy, and it should interest you greatly Jake.

Source Two - Antal E. Fekete, and his argument with the Austrians regarding the gold standard and Real Bills.

Here is probably the definitive url to visit to start your investigation, because, not only is the article awesome in its own right, it links to most all the other articles in the debate.

[link edited for length]

I now leave you with a concept. As all libertarians know, or should know, the opposite of freedom is statism. But what is statism? I have investigated this matter, and I find that all existing definitions are inadequate. Look around on the web dictionaries, and Wiki, and you'll see what I mean.

Here is the definition that I think ought to be used, and I find that it covers everything:

Statism is the manifestation of the innate human desire to control and dominate others.

(Freedom, on the other hand, is nothing more than the equally innate human desire to be free of control and domination by others)

I will give you an example that shows why I define statism exactly in this way. Teachers and parents at our childrens school have a new "procedure" where they patrol in front of the school wearing yellow armbands and tell us exactly how far we must pull our cars up to the school in the morning and afternoon to drop off and pick up our kids.

There is no greed involved - they aren't getting anything out it. There is no state involved, no government, and no law.

They are simply intent on controlling us. And that is statism in my definition.

Of course, most statism does involve government, but not necessarily all of it.

***

I hope this post is useful to you Jake, and to everyone else who might be interested too.

Thanks for reading!

Dear Tom,

Took a look at your links, interesting.  However, the losthorizons site is blocked by the firewall in the country where I reside for the moment.
