Saul Anuzis, the head of the Michigan Republican party and the man who infamously tried to ban Ron Paul from further Republican primary debates in May of 2007, is now running for the national chairmanship of the Republican Party.
"The Next Right", a right wing blog, is running a poll on all the canidates for the RNC chair.

It's a flat-out guarantee that somebody like Saul Anuzis WILL INDEED become chairman of the RNC. There is an ABSOLUTE ZERO chance anybody who favors the Constitution and is anti Establishment will ever be considered, no matter how much personal money they have or support they have from the grassroots. It's all about keeping the illusion that the "Republicrats" are different, and not allowing real choice.
Right next to Al Capone, is the IRS, masquerading as collectors of legitimate taxation. When originally only federal payroll and other federal sourced moneys that did not violate the constitutional limits, our founding fathers were so careful to protect us with. Will any RNC member realize this truth?
You should really do some more research about what's transpired since. Dr. Paul was included in the Michigan GOP Presidential debate and was invited as a featured speaker at it's Mackinac Conference as well. After the primary was over Saul went to extreme ends (far more so than with any other following) to welcome the Paul following into the party , encouraged them to stay active (most have not) and has made public comments about including them at the national level as well. If the revolution is going to continue, I'd suggest not burning more bridges with any of the candidate for RNC chair.

I'm from Michigan and a Republican party member. I also was a active Ron Paul supporter and I saw Mr. Anuzis in action more then once.
You're right Mr. Anuzis's stand did soften his after he tried to ban Dr. Paul from the debates... but I think this had alot more to do with the blowback he recieved then any change of heart. Remember this was before Paul's money raising came to light as well as his solid 3r/4th place stand in the results (top of the tier 2's).
As far as "bending over backwards", if you mean not trying to ban the Dr. Paul AGAIN from the debates, yeah I guess, but that is the extent of it. I was in the trenches, he never went out of his way to accept any of the Paul people, other then grudingly, and then only when they forced the issue.
The bottom line here is the Michigan Paul delegation was not treated with the respect and accord that was deserving of a 4th out of 10th placement in the primary. More to the point, the man who would be RNC chairman first reaction, when faced with something he didn't agree with, was to try and squelch it.
This is not the kind of reaction I would expect from the head of a state party let alone the national RNC. If bridges must be burnt to change the status qou, then hand me the lighter and can of gas. Lacking that, the RNC should go the way of the Whigs and allow a real limited goverment Conservative party to take its place.
The only thing more amusing than the notion that Ron Paul as libertarian hero is the idea that the GOP would ever exist as a vehicle for Libertarian ideas.

The only thing even more amusing is your misinformation.
Republicanism evolved from classical liberalism - a.k.a, libertarianism - so to suggest they are mutually exclusive is simply ignorant and short sighted.
