Energy: Obama say's "Our government now pays the highest energy bill in the world. We need to change that. We need to upgrade our federal buildings by replacing old heating systems and installing efficient light bulbs."
Joe say's "Our government now pays the highest energy bill in the world because it owns and occupies more property than any other entity on this planet. Instead of changing light bulbs, we need to reduce the size the government and its massive global footprint. Give back the property we occupy in foreign countries and hand over buildings to the private sector. That won't just save you, the American taxpayer, billions of dollars each year. It will put people back to work."
Infrastructure: Obama say's "we will create millions of jobs by making the single largest new investment in our national infrastructure since the creation of the federal highway system in the 1950s. We'll invest your precious tax dollars in new and smarter ways, and we'll set a simple rule - use it or lose it. If a state doesn't act quickly to invest in roads and bridges in their communities, they'll lose the money."
Joe say's "Since the federal government isn't responsible for maintaining any roads or bridges, why should the feds dictate to the States (whom are responsible for infrastructure within their boundaries) how to spend tax money. I say repeal the federal gas tax and transfer the money in the Highway Trust Fund back to the States. This will keep your precious tax dollars out of the hands of pork barreled, bridge-to-no-where, politicians and allow it to be spent wisely by accountable, local governments.
Education: Obama say's "My economic recovery plan will launch the most sweeping effort to modernize and upgrade school buildings that this country has ever seen. We will repair broken schools, make them energy-efficient, and put new computers in our classrooms. Because to help our children compete in a 21st century economy, we need to send them to 21st century schools."
Joe say's "Since the creation of the Department of Education, America's standing in education plummeted from #1 to dead last amongst industrialized nations. Children from third world countries, schooled in mud huts, score better than many of our kids here in the United States. Instead of pork projects upgrading school buildings, we should prohibit federal bureaucrats from dictating curriculum to local school boards. That would truly be a 21st century change we could believe in."
Healthcare: Obama say's "We will make sure that every doctor's office and hospital in this country is using cutting edge technology and electronic medical records so that we can cut red tape, prevent medical mistakes, and help save billions of dollars each year."
Joe say's "The federal government is going to cut red tape, prevent medical mistakes, and help save billions of dollars each year? Yeah right."
