You Had Your Chance Government, Now Step Aside

Since the beginning of mankind itself, government has goofed everything it has ever touched. The time of the 100% voluntary "society" is long overdue.

We have lived, all of us, under some form or other of government, all of our lives. We really don't know anything else, yet that is certainly no endorsement ever for it's continued horrors it visits upon it's "subjects". What we do know is that voluntary actions between consenting persons always works for those involved when force or the threat of force is taken out of the picture.

Township, city, state, federal it doesn't matter, government on all levels has let us down. They have proven time and again throughout the ages, no matter where it exists, to be unworthy of obedience of their rules and regulations. If you disagree with me, then please feel free to explain, what exactly they have done FOR us to deserve any level of respect from us.

What vital services do they provide that can't possibly be offered under any circumstances, by the free market if the market were allowed by law (or with the preferred absence of law) to do so? Otherwise it will be assumed that our sworn protectors have become instead our adversaries, concerned only with emptying our wallets and control of the masses. No evidence has ever been presented to make sufficiently educated folks, believe that government's one-size-fits-all solutions to problems that they (much more often than not) have created, ever work.

We have a government that is nothing more than a mere kleptocracy, a nation led by thieves obsessed with expanding empire and ripping us off. A system run by vile slave drivers with blatant contempt for those that work hard to pay the salaries of these thugs. Their cheap games quite often force us to fight amongst each other over the remaining scraps that they've not yet found a way to extract from us, yet can be counted on to currently have plans hatching to pull off such a feat.

I realize that the unknown can be unsettling, perhaps even quite scary for some. Take heart in the fact that freedom and free enterprise treads in gently. We understand and care about you and won't sell you anything you don't need or want and we most certainly will never use any force or coercion to provide any service to you.

Business contracted out for needed services very much realizes that customer satisfaction that arises from competition is what makes you happy. The hidden threat of non-compliance with government diktat only instills fear. Sane people don't want fear as their primary motivator. We know that you will choose happiness over fear if you are simply given a choice in the first place.

Step aside government, your time is over and you have nothing to offer us, that we can't get a better deal elsewhere without all those guns shoved in our faces. Let the provenly responsible individuals push aside the mess you've made and work around your foul meddling and the widespread ruin that it's created.

You owe us that much and we're here to collect on that debt due.

Dan Steward

My friend I cannot dispute your critique of our government. It has failed miserably. But the government we have is not the government the founders created. They created a government which was limited by the constitution, a constitution which protected the rights of the people, not the power of the government. Most regrettably, "we the people" have allowed our constitution to be ignored by a corrupt government. That is the fundamental problem.

It sounds like you are advocating anarchy, but anarchy is not the answer. In anarchy, sooner or later one thug or another will lead one group against the rest and eventually take control of the country. Then we are right back to tyranny. The founders' vision of limited government is far better. It would protect our rights and prevent government from interfering in our lives.

In my opinion the founders missed the boat in three items: 1) The constitution allowed for slavery. Fortunately that problem was corrected by the 13th amendment.

2) The constitution did not provide for universal suffrage. That was corrected by the 15th, 19th and 26th amendments.

3) The constitution did not provide adequate means of forcing government to comply with the constitution. That problem has not been corrected and as a result we are gradually losing our rights. If we could correct that problem our government would work just fine.

What David S said. That's why I am a Liberal, but not a Libertarian, because anarchy simply does not work.

Please feel free to read my new article (when it gets published). That should knock the edge off your fears.

Believe what you like, be a "liberal" if  you care to do so as it makes no difference to me.

I just find it strange that a typical liberal hates the thought of guns being pointed at people yet wholeheartedly endorses a system that has the threat of the gun behind it's each and every action. That notion I find just mindboggling.

What you may not get is that for the "liberal" (actually, for the archist libertarian), government's "each and every action" would be confined to prohibiting persons or groups from using force against our citizens; and that we see nothing wrong with backing up that particular prohibition with the "threat of the gun."
