Ron Paul has raised over $1.5 million $3.5 million in the first nine 16 hours of Tea Party '07. Having met his campaign's goal of $12 million for the quarter shortly after 1:00 A.M. Eastern, and at $15 million around 4:00 P.M. today, will supporters outdo their previous feat and drop the heaviest moneybomb just before midnight for a last-minute, frenzied infusion of cash to his maverick campaign?
Â
How much Paul's supporters will raise on this single-day fundraising effort remains to be seen; estimates run from $2 million (which has already been blown out of the water) up to $10 million. In any event, they are trying to outdo themselves with their own record-breaking success in the on-line political donation arena of $4.3 million on November 5 in what has been called a "moneybomb." The mainstream media have already started reporting on his success, having been alerted to the Tea Party shortly after the historic November 5th haul. Some organizations are already starting to guess. Gambling sites such as Sportsbook.com have stated that the bets rest around $6 million.
Paul has mentioned his awareness of the Tea Party in a recent letter to supporters, saying, "[T]his Sunday, I am really going to enjoy my tea at a party!" That is sure to rev up his supporters even more (as if that were necessary).
