Lessons Learned I Will libertarians and paleo-conservatives take the GOP back?by Jack Galway

Lesson learned:
The gop had better knock off the rewards by loyalty approach to selecting a potus candidate. Already the talk is about palin and romney and huckabee. If we conservatives believe that rewards come from merit, then why are we doing the welfare for old losers thing?
Whoever is going to be the next GREAT conservative is off the radar right now, just as Obama was 4.5 years ago. Patience. If you want to win just the south again, go with palin or huckabee. If you want to win massachusetts, go with romney. If you want to win again, at least quit snubbing your libertarian brethren.

1) People are wise to the Sarah Palin is competent ploy. She had been the Mayor of a town of less than 9,000 people, had been Governor for less than 2 years, had never traveled out of the country, had never passed any national legislation ~ couldn't even name the world leader's of most countries!
2) Trying to slander and smear people by association doesn't work. We know Obama didn't believe the ideas of Rev. Wright, or the other "terrorists" the rabid Republican right tried to imply were "pals" of his. Try to run on YOUR OWN VIEWS not try to RUN DOWN the other candidate.
3) Get someone who is HEALTHY! McCain was a doddering old man of 72 who had spent 6 years in a POW camp, had several recurring bouts with cancer, could barely raise his arms because his shoulders had been broken while tortured. Come on! Get someone who will LIVE through his term!
4) Don't keep fighting the NEWS MEDIA. No one believes everything they tell us anyway. Most people are getting news over the INTERNET now. Even newspapers are failing. Your unedited message will be heard in debates, speeches, advertisements and through surrogates. Complaining about the NEWS MEDIA is like complaining about the REFEREES in a sporting event. Nobody likes crybabies!
5) Don't run UNPOPULAR candidates for office even if you LOVE their ideas. Ron Paul hasn't got enough following to start a parade! Why don't you get someone like Limbaugh or Hannity? They think they know what the world needs! Ha! Ha!
These are just some easy suggestions. Maybe you'll get the idea from there.

It will be interesting to see if the GOP can learn from this defeat. They had a panoply of choices for their Presidential nominee, and they chose The Stupid One. He, in turn, demonstrated that stupidity by choosing Sarah Palin in order to appeal to the yahoos who have pretty much alienated most modern-day Americans. As a result, educated, upscale Americans turned their back on the GOP.
The Repos need to disown the fetus fetishists, the people who don't believe in (or even understand) the theory of evolution, and the gay-bashers. When they do, the majority of voters will once again turn to the GOP as they become disenchanted with the big-government, tax-and-spend Democrats.
Mr. Nolan; Don't expect conservatives to embrace "liberal" objectives like abortion on demand, acceptance of deviant sexual behavior as normal, or eliminating non eco-centric religious beliefs. Are you referring to micro or macro in your "theory of evolution" comment? Both? Charles Darwin is the most universally misunderstood figure in human history. Mostly, I think, because so many refer to his work having neglected to peruse it. In any event, your suggestion to the "Repos" is unrealistic. Master C; You seem to be stuck in instructor mode. The letters at the end of your name, if any, are irrelevant here. You may indeed have been a teacher somewhere, but here you seem to be hell-bent on being the class clown. Mr. Galway; Thanks for the contribution. Thumbs up. Peace

Hi Jack,
Your article sparked a response from me that I decided to turn into an article in its own right.
You are right on the money in your observation. I hope to change what you see, with the help of a lot of individuals doing productive things in the GOP.
If you havent heard already, most medical science studies are proving that homosexuality is a natural biologoical thing but I dont expect Paleoconservatives like yourself to accept science when it does fit your belief system. Even with the gay marriage issue many of you and your fellow Religious Conservatives have failed to provide actual evidence how two men or two women marrying would affect my marriage or the marriage of my parents. The result is you and others crank up the fear machines just like Liberals and Democrats do.
Jack
I agree with your premise but you do realize that the Paleoconservatives fully believe in legislating morailty and protectionism which is the opposite of Libertarianism. The only union I see between the two is foreign policy.
Of course homosexuality is a natural "thing". If it weren't it wouldn't exist. Dogs naturally eat their own vomit too. I none-the-less find it disgusting. I couldn't care less if you want to marry your dog, it's your business. I don't have to agree with it, but I certainly wouldn't support legislation banning it.
Your assumption that I am among the "Religious Conservatives" and "Paleoconservatives" who advocate "legislating morality and protectionism" is dead wrong. How you read an autobiography into my brief disagreement with Mr. Nolan is a mystery sans intrigue.
