Ron Paul Takes Third in Some States Some states allowed for write in votes... some count and some don't.by Kipper Mathews

*According to some sources, Ron Paul placed third in the two states that had him on the ballot, Montana and Louisiana which produced a total of 19,852 votes, well ahead of any third party candidates. It is not clear how many write-in votes he received in other states as many states have not tallied all the votes and or haven't received all their mail-in ballots. One of those states California not only accepted Ron Paul as one of four possible write-ins candidates, they will count his votes as well.
I being from California and one of the people who proudly wrote in Ron Paul, am excited to see the end results.

Why don't you tell us who took 3rd in the WORLD SERIES next? Or who took 3rd in the National Spelling Bee? Hey, who's going to be 3rd on American Idol?
Way to spread good will among your fellow humans. If you do not care then so be it. I don't care one bit about baseball but I do not feel inclined to raz the fans of the team that lost.
Ron Paul did succeed in bringing to the forefront many issues that would have never seen the light in either of the major parties rhetoric. In my opinion that is a victory and will turn out better for all Americans in the longer run.
I wish more people would have debated Ron Paul rather than dismissed him.
I'm glad you see success in such modest (or should I say miniscule... no barely discernible... no EMBARRASSING!) results. I hope you always look for that kind of success to power your future. You'll still be back in the caves, painting on the walls, while the rest of us Obama-lovers will be basking in the sweet gifts of SOCIALISM!
I posted these numbers for those like myself that voted for Ron Paul.
Our votes and hard work in supporting Ron Paul and the Revolution were not just swept under the rug and I'm proud of it. You can't take that away from me.
Kipper, this article is factually incorrect. Ron Paul was not a write-in in either state; he was a ballot-qualified candidate, of the Constitution Party in MT and the Louisiana Taxpapers Party in LA.
No, I don't want to re-write your article! I do like to rewrite mine, though, when an error in one is brought to my attention, and I imagined you'd feel the same.
This article is so full of misinformation that I don't understand why someone who knows so little about what they're saying would bother putting it in print. The Ron Paul votes in Montana and Louisiana were not write in votes. He was on the ballot in both of those states. You're right about people being able to write him in in California. But there were other states that people could write him in as well, since some states supposedly count all write in votes. And where did you get the numbers for Louisiana? Do you realize that if 9,300 votes were equal to 0.05% of the votes cast in that state, then it would mean that 19 million people voted there--in Louisiana?!
@Eric: Yeah, you're right; the percentages all have a misplaced decimal (should go one point to the left).
As for why Kipper put it into print, I thought he explained that; it was breaking news, which a lot of Chart readers hadn't seen. I don't have a problem with that. I think he deserves credit for taking the initiative. That's one reason I turned down the offer to rewrite the article and post it myself, while he deleted his; it's his story idea, his initiative in posting it, and he deserves the readers and credit.
I just would prefer that he gets due credit, by fixing the errors. I really appreciate the feature in these articles, that allows a writer to edit after publication. You wouldn't believe how many times, after posting one of my pieces, I've spotted an embarrassing typo later. I wish more of our writers would take advantage of that post-publication editing feature.
There's no censorship. If a candidate has enough support, they get into the debates just like everyone else. It's just that we don't want to take the time to hear the riff raft who have nothing but conspiracies, hysteria, and extreme solutions to problems that are much more complicated than that to talk about.
Plus, no third or fourth (or 18th as some of your candidates are) candidate could ever put together a political coalition to run the country. The Reps and Dems would EAT THEM UP!
there's no censorship? hello? where have you been? ron paul WAS in the debates fool.
extreme solutions? HA HA HA! let me guess, you're a bush supporter.
you don't think invading iraq is extreme? i'd say it is, especially since THEY DIDN't ATTACK us. If that sounds like a conspiracy to you then i guess it is.
When are you gonna do any actual research for yourself instead of repeating the same crap we've heard again and again. Disprove anything, I welcome it.

“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”- Winston Churchill
"Truth always rests with the minority, and the minority is always stronger than the majority, because the minority is generally formed by those who really have an opinion, while the strength of a majority is illusory, formed by the gangs who have no opinion -- and who, therefore, in the next instant (when it is evident that the minority is the stronger) assume its opinion... while truth again reverts to a new minority.” -Kierkegaard
