Congratulations Senator Obama... Sorry America Why the Obama reign will mean little to nothing for progress.by Dusty Good

Last night we found out what we new from the start of this entire election: Republicans lost, Democrats won.
Is this news?
We have known for weeks now the Obama was going to be elected. The McCain campaign was poorly run and as a candidate, he isn't very electable.
So now that we know what we... already knew, let's examine what we don't know: what kind of President will Barack Obama make?
If the president is truly just a figurehead, Obama will be a splendid president indeed. He is truly a effective leader when it comes to rallying people around a cause. I believe this is proven by his win in the election.
BUT, as we all know, George W. Bush has expanded the powers of the president far beyond constitutional limitations. This could make the Obama's "goals" within closer reach than any of the pundits have hinted at.
Before we go continue on, please allow me to first use my favorite libertarian analogy.
In a race, we take the bestcompetitorsand let them run the race. We do not change the rules so that everyone can compete, we do not base the rules on the most disadvantage race, and we do not make everyone finish in the same position. How then can we make thebusinessworld, a competitiveendeavor, and try to skew the rules to make it fair?..
The fact is the democrats won a ton of dark red seats in congress. It wasn't because of a turning tide in the political world, it was a backlash against the neo-conservative agenda. To retain those seats the democrats will have to tread lightly. There must be very little change in everyday American life, so little it must be hard for the "average" American to notice (of course the bloggers here are not average). This means that Obama will have to cater to those members of Congress to not make waves. So what happens for Obama? No re-election. Obama has promised America a change, a revolution, so to say, and there is no way the newly elected Democrats from the deep red districts can go along with these policies.
This election was not won by Barack Obama, it was lost by George W. Bush. In four years, Bush will no longer be an issue. Case and point: Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan.
So Democrats enjoy your victory. It will not last.
