A suggested Ron Paul alliance with President-Elect Barack Obama

If Ron Paul is serious in his campaign for Liberty, this is a way in which we can inject freedom principles into government over the next two years, and shorten his timeline that it will take another generation for political freedom to take hold.

Before the 2008 Democratic and Republic National Conventions, I wrote an article suggesting that Ron Paul make an appearance on stage with Barack Obama, shaking his hand, and announcing his 'No Taxes on Tips' would be the first thing that Barack Obama would seek to pass as legislation in the first weeks in office.

No one understood why I suggested it, but I'll restate those reasons now, along with my new suggested direction that Ron Paul should take in his Campaign for Liberty.

First, consider that Obama beat McCain in a landslide (like I predicted).

Second, consider that the economic problems that Ron Paul has been talking about for the past two years during his own Presidential Campaign are not going away, even if the entire world is happy about Obama being in the white house.

Third, consider how long the Republican Party has been trying to oust Ron Paul from his Congressional seat over the past 8 years (without success).

Fourth, consider that Obama and Ron Paul have a common base of enthusiasm in the youth vote of this country.

Fifth, consider that Ron Paul is an anti-racist.  No matter what the primary campaign smears against him tried to infer.

Sixth, consider that the youth will not be active in the electorate in two years or four years from now, if the economy collapses in depression and people lose hope while Obama is in the White House.  Like it or not, people blame (wrongly) the President for the economic woes we face.  If we don't want the new youth and minority voters to give up on influencing politics, then Obama's administration must take the lead to pass REAL ECONOMIC SOLUTIONS.

Seventh, consider that Ron Paul was the only candidate for President this year that was offering REAL ECONOMIC SOLUTIONS.

HERE'S THE PLAN

Ron Paul holds a Press Conference, where he announces that the Republican Party is bankrupt of ideas, and that he is changing his political affiliation to Independent.  He then talks about the importance of having a government that has color-blind policies, and re-iterate his own ideas for  reducing racial biases in our laws (such as the war on drugs).  He then talks briefly about how the economic collapse that has occurred was predictable and that he has been warning the Republican Party for his entire career that the these problems would occur.  He then congratulates Obama on his historic campaign, and talks about how the youth and minorities were a major part of not only Obama's success, but his own success in 2008.  He then says he wants to meet privately with President-Elect Obama and his cabinet, to talk about immediate passage of legislation that would give real tax relief and increase the hope in the youth that want real solutions to their financial struggles and want to avert the future financial disasters of promised entitlements.  I suggest that Ron Paul and Barack Obama then announce that Paul's 'No Taxes on Tips' legislation will be one of the first items on the floor when Obama takes office in January.  Ron Paul should offer to be Barack's unofficial economic advisor over these next two years, in order to reach across and work with Democrats to succeed in passing the economic legislation that he could not convince the Republicans to pass.

Ron Paul says that freedom has no partisanship.  Barack Obama says that hope has no partisanship.  Together, they could be Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, who could continue electrifying the youth and minorities in the country over the next two years with real changes that we feel in our pocketbook and in new opportunities.

The goal would be to keep the youth and minorities not only in the electorate, but educate them with the principles of liberty and economic prosperity that Ron Paul has brought to the campaign over the past two years.  If minorities and youth really hope for a better future, they must be introduced to Ron Paul's ideas.

With Barack Obama and Ron Paul making public appearances and announcing legislative initiatives, Ron Paul can accelerate the timeline for his Campaign for Liberty, and Barack Obama can take real steps to stave off a coming depression.

In addition to the economic plans Ron Paul has proposed in his past legislation proposals, a very important one that could raise the spirits of Americans and have an indirect positive effect on the economy would be to pass the 'American Freedom Agenda Act' of Ron Paul's.

Great idea but the only big catch is that Obama is owned. Obama's wife sits on the board of the Council on Foreign Relations in the Chicago area. Obama didn't get to where he is without a lot of help from some shady people and if you think Obama is going to be "allowed" to bring Ron Paul into the fowl, then you my friend are sadly uninformed of how things really work in D.C.

Search the key words on you tube for "Dick Cheney CFR" and see if you can read between the lines when Cheney speaks about his involvement with the CFR and states "I never mentioned that when I was campaigning in Wyoming"

What landslide.. Not of the popular vote, maybe the electrial college votes.. Obama's current economic adviser is Austan Goolsbee Bonesman class of 1991 from Yale. I doubt that you would ever see Dr. Paul and Obama together..

YOu have to be totally clueless! Obama wants to RAISE TAXES not cut them. Obama is a new world order criminal controlled by George Soros - the Marxist of all Marxists.

Ron Paul should not want to have anything to do with this total creepy and bad person.

If Obama turns out to be anything other than a typical liberal partyliner then this jaded observer is going to be one SURPRISED mo-fo. I'm not audacious enough for that hope.

Interesting proposal. Feelers would need to be sent out to the Obama camps and the House Democrats before risking anything like this. To date, the GOP has never been kind to him, and on issues like foreign policy and civil liberties Obama may be amenable to a libertarian perspective. It must also be recognized that this would likely be Ron Paul's last term in the Congress if he did this, his conservative 14th district won't reelect an Independent.

We saw during the bailout vote that the House leadership and the rank-and-file have some deep differences. Many  Republicans are calling for new leadership. If people like Jeff Flake and Thaddeus McCotter step into leadership roles, (I don't know how likely this is) than there may be more of a role for Ron Paul, and the House Republicans may actually act as much needed opposition to Obama's big-government policies.

You may be interested to note that in his speech [mp3 link] to the Mises Supporters Summit this weekend, Ron Paul spent a fair amount of time talking about how he and Barack Obama shared some of the same supporters and that they both were able to gain supporters with a message promising hope and change. Of course, Paul noted that the hope and change he promised was real, while Obama's was illusory.

Obama has no intrest in helping the little guy instead he wants to raise taxes and send it to the UN. He did in fact propose a tax to raise 800 billion to help the worlds poor. He wants to be seen as a world leader to heal the world. Also, there are major reports that Obama was born in Kenya. Phillip Berg actual filed suit to request Obama to provide proof but he never did. A few weeks ago a health dept offical from Hawaii stated he did in fact validate the document however no document was shown to the people. To add more fuel to the fire when the press went to verify the Dr. who gave birth to Obama the Sheriff was awaiting any press member and would not allow entry to the obtain any data. I sent a letter to Dr. Paul asking him to validate Obama's birth and as far as I know no action was taken by Ron Paul nor congressman Bob Godlatte. In closing we are in for restricted free speech and tough ecnomic times. Obama dosn't appear to be a man of humble understanding and doesn't appear to be a teachable spirit. We are in for rough times.

Dear Master C ,

Is your leader beaming thoughts into your mind?  May I join your collective too?  Ah, nevermind I might leave the toilet seat up.

The only similarities between Ron Paul and Barack Obama is leaving Iraq. Obama does not stand up for the constitution as Ron Paul does. Heck, Obama voted for the Patriot Act, and he\'s for big government and big spending. Paul has criticized Obama for this many times and rightfully so.

Master C, makes a very strong point.

If the GOP had any sense, they'd realize that they need Ron Paul, make room for him, and be inviting towards his supporters. In any case, one day they might wake up and realize that their grassroots in much of the country, especially at the state and local level, filled with liberty-loving CFLers.

Obama and the Democrats do not need Paul, their incentive for going along with this is minor. Plus, while Ron Paul gets on well enough with Dennis Kucinich and a handful of  others, much of the party would oppose any sort of alliance.

Though he doesn't often pass legislation, he has shown willingness to work with members of all parties during his year in Congress.

Please consider that Ron Paul and Obama disagree on foreign policy, on central banking, and on everything else. Having a common enemy is not enough.

Obama is the dark side of politics and life. With him everything is violence. He points his governement guns to anyone who disagress with him. There is not one ounce of consideration for Liberty in the marxist mind of Obama. More taxes, more regulation, more compulsory transfers from human beings A to human beings B.

The state always uses the trick of news faces to have the people believe that it is changing when the state never changes. McCain would have won or bush would have stayed more, the end result woul still be the same.

Ron Paul should continue what the does so well; voice the ideas of freedom.

Don't shake Obama's hand; fight him out of power! Government is always crime; even the day after an election.

Considering the propaganda machine that is the main stream media mentioned Obama a couple hundred times an hour while ignoring Paul at every turn indicates that Obama is the annointed puppet for the next 4 years. He (Obama) will not bite the hand that has fed him and therefore will not embrace any of Paul's ideas that would actually change the status quo.

That's not going to happen. Obama's core belief is that government needs to do more, not less.

Joe Lieberman already did the opportunism thing to push his militaristic agenda, by backing McCain and now switching back to the Democrats. Not sticking to principles is a good thing? You lose credibilty.

I think you would have a greater chance of success in reforming the Republican Party instead of the Democratic Party. The GOP is getting ready to jettison Rove and Cheney. They can toss their puppet Palin out too.

Getting back to fiscal conservatism is going to require change with the Congressional races in 2010. It's too late for the White House.  There's no one interested in the right message.
