Libertarian gubernatorial Candidate Mike Munger is closing his campaign with an "Old Fashioned, Hand-Shaking, Back Roads and Small Towns Tour" of North Carolina. He began began a marathon campaign swing Thursday with three different speeches in Cullowhee, before driving to Murphy to begin the tour along the entire length of US Highway 64, from Murphy to Whalebone.

When asked why he was undertaking this trip on the final weekend before the election, Munger said, "The simple answer is that both my opponents have lost touch with the people, the small towns, the small businesses, and the rural areas of the state."

"Doing a tour of US 64, with its stop lights, school buses, and construction, puts me in touch with the every day folks who pay taxes and go to church and never spend much time in Charlotte, or Raleigh, or any big city," he said.

"As the director of the masters of public administration program at UNC Chapel Hill before I came to Duke, I made many connections with local governments, in towns and counties," Munger explained "I want to try to reconnect, to listen to the people of the state who will not get a voice if Pat McCrory or Bev Perdue take the governor's seat. I want to win that seat, so I can represent those people who now have no voice."

Munger will be available for interviews at anytime during the tour. His direct cell phone is (336)508-2175. Or you can contact his campaign manager, Barbara Howe, at (919) 465-2371 to make an appointment to meet.
