Polls and Fourth Quarter Politics Can we rely on polls to circumvent the inevitable turbulence and uncertainty that still lies ahead?by Gregory Mckell

Could there actually be a level of authenticity when reviewing the current polling results from dozens of "legitimate sources" amidst the disturbing reports of voter purging and outright criminal behavior being waged in order to discredit and eliminate certain individuals from the process refusing them the right to have their vote counted?
The question beckons; is there an oversight committee for Polling Integrity or are we to believe that the modern media has a polling system that is accurate and conclusive?
My cardinal concern lies in the fact that in my forty plus years of life, nobody has asked me once about my vote. Not one phone call, no survey, nada. I'm sure that many would have a different story to tell, however I find it hard to believe that polls are not extremely volatile and grossly inaccurate if for no other reason than the absoluteness of the inconclusiveness of victory with only weeks left in this bitter and embarrassingly ugly fight for the Presidency. Neither side is assured a win at this point, yet the polls being reported are encouraging to those of us who believe that "Real Change" should not mean a diaper change.
The thought of experiencing George Bush disinherit his firm grip on world leadership in a few short days is enough cause for celebration alone. My biggest concern is that there is a reality rarely discussed that allows W. to hang onto power in the event- god forbid- of a national state of emergency by which, through the declaration of Martial Law, George W. Bush could remain in power indefinitely. Highly unlikely, you say? What would it take? A catastrophic event is loosely defined in the writ. In the worst-case scenario, Ronald Reagan's nine scariest words may actually be uttered when FEMA shows up at your door. Or possibly we would experience a Supreme Court decision that would usurp the will of the people. Of course that is illegal, and therefore could never happen.
It is imperative to remain vigilant and thorough in our observation of all events leading to Nov. 4. More importantly it is necessary for us to remain aware of the possible calamities, illegalities, and outright immoral tactics we have come to expect from the heroes of our current administration as they face the probability of losing world power.
I would like to give merit to the polls we are seeing, but I refuse to celebrate prematurely.

I can't tell you for sure how many times I've been polled, but I'd guess it's somewhere around 15-20 times. The fact that you haven't been polled makes me wonder if either your phone number is unlisted or your don't use a landline. Cell phones don't tend to get polling calls.
Bush's leaving would have more meaning to me if the democrats hadn't been so accomodating to his fascist policies. I don't see many presidential directives being scrapped by an even bigger majority of democrats.
