Topic: Government's Responsibilities
You Waited Too Long: Start Telling Them "NO!" Now.

The first step to restoring freedom in America is to explain to them just exactly what you WON'T put up with.

We keep waiting for that proverbial "straw" that breaks the camel's back yet the constantly hoodwinked populace continues to lay absolutely numb and oblivious to just how badly they are being had.

The Grandfather of all Bailouts should have been the tipping point for the American people, but aside from a brief slew of phone calls to congress before the final votes were counted and the conveniently ignored protests by main stream media, of protests on Wall Street, hardly an echo murmured forth afterwards.

The proles went back to the salt mines, apparently forgetting already that they will be kissing goodbye more of their freedoms and an ever increasing chunk of their paychecks and purchasing power. They will also be counted on again to line up for the next grand maneuver of widespread fleecing, once this gaggle of kleptomaniacs squanders the $1 Trillion plus of ill gotten swag, literally stolen from them.

The mayor of your town, your U.S. Senators and Representatives, are accountable to you. Your City/County Council as well as state Senators & Reps alike depend on you for their paychecks, Let them know about it. Take also the time to inform them that any future nonsense they would dare to be stupid enough to enact, will come at a price to them. That price would be in the form of ridicule, increased scrutiny, and public pillory regarding any legislation that would take away any of your freedom or finances. Tell them loudly "NO!" and that you will simply not put up with it. Inform them that what they propose is stupid, lame, irresponsible and Anti-American.

While you're at it, give the lapdog media a dose of the same, as the powers-that-be couldn't pull of any of their massive hoaxes without the assistance of these vile toadies of the American press, television, and radio. Let them know that if they want to play cheerleader for tyranny, they'll be held up to equal contempt for their misdeeds.

Tell them exactly what you will not put up with, otherwise they will make themselves content with the wrongheaded notion that you are just fine with whatever they do to you, since you gave no voice of protest in the first place to their perfidy.

With Liberty,

Dan Steward

Dear Dan,

You seem to be totally unaware of how much everyone already knows about the bailout.  Protests have been made, phone calls have been placed, emails have been written.  There just wasn't enough of a wellspring of opposition to the bailout to stop it.  It's even happening all over Europe now ~ all over the world!

Why don't you recognize that YOUR opposition to it is so miniscule in comparison with those who have VOTING RIGHTS who want it to go through, and saw an even LARGER catastrophe if it didn't, that you just have to accept it.

It's like the election next month.  Your guys ~ Barr, et. al ~ are NOT going to make it.  It's probably going to be Obama, and you just have to accept it.  That's TRUE DEMOCRACY ~ when a public vote is taken and a winner is determined.  You Libertarians just seem to HATE DEMOCRACY because it doesn't swing your way.

There was NOTHING illegal about the vote for the bailout, and there will be nothing illegal about the vote for Obama.  Everybody is informed, everybody said their piece.  You're just in a tiny, teensie, little bitty MINORITY who won't accept that fact.

As I've said previously ~ you can RANT but you can't HIDE.

Master C,

Again you have missed the point of my article and that is that the bailout is a done deal and we need to keep the heat on government officials to do their job of protecting our rights and property. They have done just the opposite of what they have been hired to do, from the mayor of a tiny burg on up to congress itself.

As an employee of the state (you did say that you were a university professor, right?) it's quite obvious why you would protest my article. You have a stake in government.

FYI, Bob Barr is not "my guy". You'd know that if you ever read any of my stuff on this site.

Isn't there a cell phone user out there that you could be infringing on his rights and jamming his signals, right now?

Your socialistic view of how the world is supposed to work is a strange one indeed, and has failed everywhere it has been tried. Please feel free at any time to put your college education to work and read for content.

Your lack of knowledge about, utter contempt for, and numerous haphazard swipes against Libertarianism, have been noted.

It is my fervent hope that you will eventually learn that despite your ongoing delusions about their worthiness, your very own articles have not, nor will they ever, elevate you above the status of a garden variety keyboard jockey.   It is most clearly *you* that can "rant, but can't hide".

This is the real world out there, not "American Idol". Political integrity is not some popularity contest. You do  both yourself and your written works a great disservice by viewing a "minority" opinion as an invalid one, simply because you don't (or won't) view 51% of the people  publicly clamoring for it.

Only somewhat amusing arguments going on here.  Remember - no personal attacks!  Now that the bailout has happened, what this country needs is leadership in responsibility.
