Topic: Election 2008
Obama and McCain are one and the same.

Obama and McCain do not represent the best interests of Americans and the joke is on us for playing along yet again.

According to Albert Einstein, the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. This is exactly what most Americans do when they go along with the mainstream media in manipulating us to think Obama and McCain are not only our only choices, but that they will fight for our best interests.

Obama and McCain are tools of runaway, corporate corruption task masters and be sure they behold their best interests and not ours.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, as of September 1st, top contributors to each campaign are from Goldman Sachs, Citigroup Inc, JP Morgan Chase & Co, Lehman Brothers and the list goes on and on.

For example, Goldman Sachs contributed to Obama $739,521 while they contributed to McCain $ 220,045. Citigroup Inc. contributed to Obama $ 492,548 while they contributed to McCain $287,801. JPMorgan Chase & Co. contributed to Obama $475,112 while they contributed to McCain $206,392. And Lehman Brothers, yes, Lehman Brothers, contributed to Obama $391,774 while they contributed to McCain $115,707.

It is no wonder that both McCain and Obama voted for the $700 billion dollar bailout. Both McCain and Obama literally owe it to these corporations to bail them out, never mind the interests of the American people. And they both have the audacity to talk about special interests.

The $700 billion dollar bailout actually became the $800 billion dollar bailout, as both Obama and McCain did not waste an opportunity to add in and support another $100 billion plus in pork barrel spending; earmarks that both Obama and McCain tell us through out their campaign stumps and in the presidential debates that they are so against.

In order to sell it to the American public, the mainstream media started calling it "the $700 Billion Dollar Rescue Plan". Yes, that sounds more appealing, like they are rescuing us and something we can all get behind on; not. This is just another example of the media manipulating the American people.

They wouldn't want you to know the truth, that it is actually an over $800 billion dollar bailout as both Obama and McCain voted for an additional $100 billion in tax breaks for wooden arrows , rum & wool fabric producers, corporations operating in American Samoa, film & TV productions, and the list goes on and on.

Despite that the overwhelming majority of Americans were against this bailout, both McCain & Obama and our elected officials disregarded our voices and sided with greed. When you are being blackmailed by Wall Street, there is no one that can stand in its way.

It is no wonder both McCain and Obama oppose adopting or even discussing a Wall Street Securities Speculation tax. Independent candidate for President Ralph Nader, who is of course ignored by the media, is the foremost expert on corporate corruption and has called for this "securities speculation tax" as it would reduce speculation in the markets and increase stability. In Ralph Nader's web site he quotes economist Dean Baker as saying "Just as poor and moderate income people pay taxes when they gamble at a casino or buy a state lottery ticket, a financial transactions tax would simply be applying a comparable tax to gambling in financial markets".

This is just one example in how including more voices and choices into the Presidential Debates would benefit all Americans. Of course the TV and Print media which is controlled by Two Party system would never allow you to hear any dissenting voices to the bailout or any other issues for that matter, as not expressed by Obama and McCain.

America deserves to hear other voices, such as Libertarian Candidate for President- Bob Barr, who says private market adjustments and not a bailout should be the starting point, and at the same time go after and prosecute fraud in private markets.

As Bob Barr explains in his web site "With the knowledge that an easy government bailout is no longer around the corner, the markets can get serious about working through the mountain of bad debt that imperils homeowners, banks and companies alike."

Barr suggests we should repeal the Community Reinvestment Act, as he says "forces banks to lend to poorer communities irrespective of the creditworthiness of borrowers."

Third Party Candidates face ridiculous roadblocks placed forth by both the Democrats and Republicans in earning a spot on state ballots. Yet, both Ralph Nader and Bob Barr managed to get on at least 45 state ballots each, quite an amazing feat, and both should be heard on equal footing.

As I have mentioned before, the exclusion of Ralph Nader and Bob Barr from the Presidential debates is unconscionable. Their inclusion would only push serious dialogue about our nation's problems and push the agenda for solutions.

McCain and Obama are one and the same masquerading themselves as mavericks and change agents. "Neither candidate has offered detailed policy papers on how to bolster the flagging economy" ------------Sun Sentinel, Sunday, October 05, 2008, Section 18A.

Furthermore, in an effort to monitor and control people in the spirit of George Orwell's novel "1984", Obama and McCain continue to tear away at our personal, hard fought freedoms, most recently by voting in favor of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which is another way that our government can spy on us. Never mind, that they both continue to support the Patriot Act, and both are evidently much too weak to oppose cutting our wasteful military budget. Does this sound like they have our best interests at hand?

This election we must open our eyes, not make excuses, and vote Third Party for President. It is time to say enough is enough. The media has perfected their manipulation with cliches of "wasting your vote". But it seems to me, if anyone is wasting a vote, it is a vote for Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Do you have the courage to say No to McBama?

Let me close in the manner I began, with a quote from Albert Einstein, who said "the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results."

Dear Jonathan,

Maybe you should run those Q-tips a little farther into your ears so that you can hear better.  I'd say that there's a VERY SIZEABLE difference between the major party candidates, and even those fringe possibilities that you seem to think are worth voting for.

Obama is AGAINST the Iraq War, McCain is FOR it.  Obama is FOR universal healthcare, McCain is AGAINST IT.  Obama is AGAINST tax breaks for the rich and big business, McCain is FOR it.  Obama is FOR legal abortions, McCain is against it.  Obama is FOR better gun controls, McCain is AGAINST it.

How can you say that there is NO DIFFERENCE between the major party candidates?  Just can't hear?

Dear Master C.

You are just repeating like a parrot what the media wants you to think.  I do not wish to follow in your footsteps of insulting you as you did Jonathan, but perhaps you have blinders on, Just can't see?

McCain will continue the process of bankrupting American through a pointless and costly war against a country that did nothing to us.

Obama will continue the process of bankrupting America through a universal healthcare plan. Consider government's current healthcare plan, medicare. That program covers only senior citizens and yet it is responsible for 35 of the $45 trillion dollars in unfunded future liabilities our country faces.

So both candidates will continue bankrupting America.

Obama and Biden are both rabidly anti-gun and it is quite likely that serious damage will be done to the second amendment if they are elected.

McCain is likely to continue the Bush administration's attack on the rest of the constitution; i.e. warrant-less searches, the end of habeas corpus, the due process requirements of the 5th amendment, and the right to a jury trial.

Pick your poison. Its like asking if you want to be shot in the head or stabbed in the heart.

I would be curious to see the evidence that Obama is against the war in Iraq.  He has not made any promises not to go to war with Iran, too.  Favoring gun control does not make me like Obama.  Favoring socialised medicine and the enslavement of doctors and nurses to the state does not make me like Obama.

Jonathan is mistaken. Obama and McCain are different threats to our freedom, different threats to our property, and different threats to our lives.  He is right in thinking that they are both threats.  They come from slightly different directions and vastly different backgrounds.  If I only had the option of voting for one or the other, I would not vote.

Barr, Nader, and I think Chuck Baldwin are on enough ballots to win 270 electoral votes if people would vote for them.  But, so what?  Enough people won't vote for them, and, what's more, enough people who count the ballots won't count the votes for them, so it won't affect the election.  I'm willing to bet Jonathan $5 that Charles Jay and Bob Barr both win exactly zero electoral votes.

Charles is on the ballot in three states, and eligible for write-in votes in other states, currently totaling some 141 electoral votes.  And I assure you the vote is going to be very small.  I would be surprised if we get as many as John Hospers did in 1972 (though our party's name, The Boston Tea Party, is probably good for a few thousand votes nationwide from unhappy voters).

Jonathan is completely correct in writing that the ballot access laws are onerous.  And guess who wrote those laws and guess who enforces them? Democrats and Republicans.  So, go ahead, folks, waste your vote on a Democrat or a Republican this year.  The people who care about your freedom aren't on those tickets.

It must be fun to only look at some of the facts and make blanket statements. This is clearly not an unbiased article or web site for that matter. Its a definite outlet for the Libertarian party.

There's a good reason why Ron Paul did not endorse Bob Barr...because HE is one of the money-grubbing Big Brotherment thugs, not an actual libertarian.

When the Libertarian Party managed to unseat Barr in 2002, calling him one of the greatest threats to liberty, he did what most corrupt politicians do; became an influence peddler for lobbying groups.

But he found that, since he was on the outs with the Republican party, he made more money peddling influence to libertarian-minded lobbying  groups.

So he's been cashing in, including hijacking the Libertarian party.

But he should NOT be cited in the article above, as if he were somehow different than McCain and Obama.

Remember, ex-CIA officer Barr authored the Defense of Marriage Act, voted for the PATRIOT Act,  the Iraq war, religious prohibition...and he calls for government intervention on "global warming".

"With this victory, we have fired a warning shot for every drug warrior in Congress to hear. And any member of Congress -- Democrat or Republican -- who introduces legislation to make federal drug laws even more oppressive could be next on our list."

—Ron Crickenberger, Libertarian Party Political Director, August 2002, regarding their successful campaign AGAINST Bob Barr
