Echoes: The American Political system A look at the duopoly of American Politics, with a contemporary prospective.by Dusty Good

Change: a subject very popular to this presidential election. Maybe this year we, the American voters, should supply the two major parties with slogans that truly suite them.
Obama/Biden: Rhetoric We Can Fall For.
McCain/Palin: Politics First
What Change do these "major" party candidates really represent. I watch the debates and thought of the amnesia that takes place every presidential election. The Presidential Candidates and Vice Presidential candidates stayed true to their colors: Yellow. It was a repeat of 2004 presidential debate. A simple cut and paste format changing only names. The policies stayed the same.
So why then is the American voter think that by just switching people from one chair to another in Washington we are going to get anything different?
I was an avid supporter of Dr. Paul's presidential run. Now before you get turned off by another crazy "Paulite" hear me out. I tell you this to give you prospective on where i am coming from. I am not going to write today and tell you how important it is to vote Libertarian (though i myself will reluctantly cast my ballot for Barr), i come to you to plea for your support for America.
America needs to be rejuvenated. We need a real change, and the only way that can truly be achieved is by voting for a third party candidate.
Liberals: consider voting for McKinney or Nader
Conservatives: consider voting for Barr or Baldwin
Once you commit to voting for values instead of greed be prepared to face the nay-sayers. Here is a few things people will say and few quick reactions you can consider.
"Your Candidate has no chance of winning"- I don't vote just so i can celebrate a victory, i vote because I'm concerned about (America/ the countries future/ the hold the two parties have on the current system).
"Sometimes you have to vote for the lesser of two evils"- Actually i have a third choice with (your candidate).
"You have to start with moderate change in America"- Our freedoms and rights have been stripped away with moderate change. We need action.
"Your wasting your vote"- Voting for someone who i don't trust with leading our country is a waste of my vote.
"Third party candidates have no exposure"- It might take years before they do, but if we start now, it's only a shorter time until that happens.
The third party factions spend a lot of time fighting over the issues, but now is the time to stand together, to push together, and get things done. If you are a libertarian talking to a liberal, don't push Bob Barr, push McKinney or Nader. If you are a socialist talking to a conservative, push Bob Barr or Chuck Baldwin. We can work together to help our candidates get exposure and if we do, we can start taking political ground. Let's save the issue fighting for when we are finally in power.

Maybe you should run those Q-tips a little farther into your ears so that you can hear better. I'd say that there's a VERY SIZEABLE difference between the major party candidates, and even those fringe possibilities that you seem to think are worth voting for.
Obama is AGAINST the Iraq War, McCain is FOR it. Obama is FOR universal healthcare, McCain is AGAINST IT. Obama is AGAINST tax breaks for the rich and big business, McCain is FOR it. Obama is FOR legal abortions, McCain is against it. Obama is FOR better gun controls, McCain is AGAINST it.
How can you say that there is NO DIFFERENCE between the major party candidates? Just can't hear?
I agree there is a hudge difference between Obama and McCai. McCane publicaly is for expanding the war and continuing to sink a hudge portion of the American weath into it. While Obama publicy decries the war claims he has been against it from the start and then turns right around and continues to fund. Obama, relizes the dangers of illigal and unwarrented spying on the American public and then votes to give the telecomunication companies imunity from knowingly violating the law.
Yes the difference is that McCain will look you in the eye and tell you he is going to impovrish and enslave the country while Obama will loojk you in the eye tell you he wont and then continue to empovrish the country and strip away our privacy.
