U.S. Senate Passes the "Pocketful of Posies" Bill

Where have all the fiscal conservatives gone? Liberalism has overtaken them like the blob.

The only Socialist Senator voted against the bailout bill because he didn't like the way Socialism was being forced on the citizens against their will. The way I see it, since Socialism requires individuals to consistently choose to act against their own best interests, the only way it can be accomplished is by force or fraud. In this case, the Socialist takeover of the US and its citizens, the fraud was that Keynesian economics could lead to sustained prosperity. The reality is that the backers of inflationary monetary policy are willing to sacrifice the prosperity of future generations for increased wealth today. We, their victims and enemies have a hard time grasping the fact that other human beings can be so callous as to knowingly pursue a path leading to very hard times for a great many people.

This path has been chosen by both the liberal neocons in the GOP and the liberal progressives in the Democratic Party. The end result is not that Socialism suddenly becomes viable or appealing, instead, Socialism is cast as the "lesser of two evils". This is the end game in the politics of fear. Since Socialism cannot gain traction in a prosperous population, there was never any hope of a political takeover. The single-minded pursuit of Socialism extends across generations. Elitist advocates of central planning and central banking and central thinking are ever willing to gamble the prosperity of future generations in their quest to ensure the power and control remain with their own families. The worst of these folks can be found in both parties. There is no relevant distinction between a liberal neocon and a liberal progressive when judged by the consequences of their policies. For both their ends justify their means. Inflationary monetary policy is their preferred strategy. They support price supports at any cost because their own future depends on ending the business cycle while they are on top. Kind of like musical chairs for the future of mankind.

The Senate bailout bill has killed our nation as we have known it. The media seems to prefer the notion of "sweeteners" having been added to a putrid food to make it more palatable to the people who will pay for it. I see no sweetness and light in the bill. I call it the "pocketful of posies" bill. The Senate stuck some fragrant posies in the pockets of the corpse of our nation's financial structure to fend off the ever increasing stench of death. Of course, the posies only provide a hint of hope for life, they can't really fend off the stench of death. That hope filled hint of fragrance is just enough for those closest to the corpse not to gag as they try to fool their constituents into believing the smell isn't as bad as they imagine.

The "pocketful of posies" bill is just another piece of evidence backing my assertion that in the long-run liberalism always wins. The power concentrating ability of inflationary monetary policy and Keynesian economics is too much for all but the most principled fiscal conservatives and free market advocates to resist. My prime example is Mike Rosen, a local Denver radio propagandist who vehemently advocates his liberal neocon leader's march toward Socialism. The sad part is that he seems to honestly believe he is a fiscal conservative simultaneously with being a belligerent spokesperson for the Socialism that has unified liberals from both sides of the aisle during the recent business cycle collapse. And the token Socialist in the Senate voted no on the bill because this means of achieving Socialism violates his principles. One way Mr. Rosen attempts to dodge any direct responsibility for his dogmatic support of the unprecedented big government liberals who run his GOP is by frequently voicing a mantra that "Party trumps person." As far as I can tell this inane phrase allows Mr. Rosen to hypnotize himself in such a way that he is incapable of recognizing the contradictory paradigms he pledges to abide by. In any case, any person who makes the submission of his individual will a necessary component of success in his career deserves no more respect or consideration from others than he is willing to give himself. In Mr. Rosen's case, that is apparently, none.

What does liberalism win, ultimately? Enemies. All of the average people who thought they supported liberalism when they were free to do so tend to find it less palatable when they are no longer free not to support it. This is important. It answers the questions I've seen posed by Nolan Chart authors as they wonder what it will take for a revolution. They have the cart before the horse. The people rebel out of Socialism and out of oppression not into it. The cycle is repeating but it has to follow the established order. Rebellion doesn't happen when the most powerful body of rebels is enthralled with their own outrage and focus on the head of the beast, in perpetual futility. The rebellion comes when small but widespread groups all suffering from the oppression from a central core of elite central planners tackle the thousands of legs in their local communities all across the nation. We're not even close to having this kind of effective strategy arise organically and everyone is still far too comfortable to be led into discomfort by even the most charismatic revolutionary. This is just the wrong time.

I think it is likely the House will pass the "pocketful of posies" bill tomorrow. I may be wrong but I don't think so. This will remove any semblance of a connection between price and value for every aspect of our market system, including our currency. Even optimistic foreigners will not be able to overlook our governments willingness to back dollars with worthless investment sausage. We are being fiscally maneuvered into a centralized economy. The liberal neocons pursued this course to fund their never-ending religious war against Muslims. The liberal progressives pursued this course to fund their vision of a benevolent welfare state that isolates them from the economic constraints of a free market.

We live in interesting times. I don't expect a miracle, I expect things to unfold as they have in the past. iI isn't likely to be fun or pretty. Sooner done sooner recovered, is my view. We all get what's coming whether we deserve it or not, to borrow from Bill Bonner.

The fate of our nation rests more on the egregious actions of our corrupt congress (except Ron Paul) the Federal Reserve Bank and the US Treasury than it does on who wins in November. Obammageddon or McCainistan, choose your children's miserable future carefully, they may remember your choice.

Constituent Rebellion Now!

Millions wrote and called to say No! and still the Senate said Yes? It is time for a housecleaning! Time to show them that they work for Main Street, not Wall Street.

Based on quick analysis, it looks like there are 2-4 Senators who voted Yes who are in tight races, and 3 or 4 more who are vulnerable.

In the House, the analysis is similar, 7 or 8 vulnerable races where a little bit of influence might make all the difference.

Targeting these so-called representatives of the people, with print and radio ads highlighting their betrayal, could really make an impact on their chances for re-election -- and put the fear of constituency back into the Washington elite.

Are you interested in making it happen? There isn't much time before the election, so it will take funds and effort. Can you participate by offering time, skills or funds?

Let us know.
