The Government Approved Conspiracy Theory
Today I'd like to explore the subject of "conspiracy theories" regarding 911.
First let us take up the Government's conspiracy theory as stated in the 911 Commission also known as the Kean/ Hamilton Commission which can be found here:

This conspiracy theory postulates quoting the executive summary from paragraph (393) that on "September 11, 2001 The day began with the 19 hijackers getting through a security checkpoint system that they had evidently analyzed and knew how to defeat. Their success rate in penetrating the system was 19 for 19. They took over the four flights, taking advantage of air crews and cockpits that were not prepared for the contingency of a suicide hijacking.
(394) On 9/ 11, the defense of U. S. air space depended on close interaction between two federal agencies: the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). Existing protocols on 9/ 11 were unsuited in every respect for an attack in which hijacked planes were used as weapons."
In other words remarkably a conspiracy of 19 of 19 dedicated hijackers were able to slip through security with out being detected. No red flags went up, just a typical day at several of America's busiest airports. Airport security was blissfully unaware that they had allowed 19 deadly hijackers to board four airlines or that there would of been any reason to be concerned. I'll go over this point a little more thoroughly later.
Going further in the text to the next paragraph we are told that the FAA and NORAD were unprepared to defend the nation against the carnage that ensued as they hadn't established "protocols" to handle such an eventuality as hijacked planes being used as weapons.
What they are admitting is that they never developed a protocol to defend the nation against the use of planes as weapons, even though the possible use of planes as weapons has existed as a potential threat for over fifty years! In other words they are saying that in all the courses they've taken at West Point and other War colleges that they never studied the Battle off Samar or the Okinawa Campaign which were famous for Kamikazi attacks. Frankly, I find that rather hard to believe. Call it a lack of credulity.
The credulity I also lack when they say that they had no reason to suspect that (19) hijackers would board several planes and crash them into various American land marks. Especially when you consider an earlier paragraph (365) to be exact which states " Moussaoui aroused suspicion for seeking fast-track training on how to pilot large jet airliners. He was arrested on August 16, 2001, for violations of immigration regulations. " This is Zacarias Moussaoui also known as the "20th Hijacker" who had been in custody for almost a month before the event in question. Who according to at least one witness only wanted to learn how to fly but not to land which seems rather Kamikazi to me, yet supposedly nobody paid any attention to him while he was in custody or even bothered to interrogate him about his odd vocational proclivity.
Add to that salient point to another in the same paragraph which says "(i)n late August, officials in the intelligence community realized that the terrorists spotted in Southeast Asia in January 2000 had arrived in the United States." So you have the IC aware that several terrorist have arrived and you have this guy who wants to fly big airliners but not too concerned about landing them and they are saying the never had a clue. Let's forget about the President's Daily Brief of August 6 which specifically says "Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US", which I see they never bother to mention in the Executive Summary but can be found here:

Yet the effort seems to be by their report is that 911 was completely a "surprise attack", a "Pearl Harbor" if you will, which according John Toland wasn't really as surprising as we were initially led to believe. Recommended reading "Infamy Pearl Harbor and Its Aftermath."
Other Conspiracy Theories
Aside from the Government's officially approved conspiracy theory, are many others which you'd expect in a situation were there are more questions than answers or the "answers" offered are somewhat less than convincing such as the case with the 911 Commission.
Many of them cover less than substantive issues like the question of whether controlled demolition was used to bring down WTC buildings 1,2 and 7 which usually lead to straw man arguments with so called "skeptics" that accept the NIST report as gospel.
As far as I'm concerned the NIST Report should win a Hugo Award, but seriously the fact is that no one will really know what caused the Twin Towers and Building 7 to collapse in the manner they did because a full Forensic investigation was never allowed. That fact can not be disputed. All we have with the National Institute of Science and Technology and the 911 Truth movement are competing theories based on models.
You can say that it was a very unique incident for sure and the only way that we could know for what happened is by building a 110 Story super structure and have some one fly a jet fuel laden 757 into it to see whether it would happen that way again. That is what is called a repeatable experiment.
As I wrote as far as I'm concerned it is a straw man argument. Since the physical evidence that might have told us is probably a Hyundia or a Toyota or maybe a Chinese Aircraft Carrier.
Merely mentioning the fact that the Twin Towers and Building 7 collapsed in a rather strange manner of course immediately gets one labeled as a "crack pot" or "conspiracy theorist".
You see in this world to many conspiracies don't exist, only "nut balls" or "wackaloons" would believe such a thing or at least that is what they are told by the media. You see "things just happen". Lone nuts run around with armed Mannlicher-Carcanos and kill Presidents, the CIA never deals in drugs and was never involved in mind control experiments, that's just a nasty rumor, our Government is always fully accountable, truthful and works for our best interests, because they happen to know what our best interests are and they would never ignore or negate intelligence that could have prevented a terrorist attack, so that they would have the casus belli or the pretext needed to invade the middle east even though they had been planning it years in advance. Perish the thought.
