Why I will vote for Obama

Voters were going nuts over Sarah Palin before they ever knew her. The day she was introduced was a riot of women screaming for her. Very evident to me they didn't care who was nominated as long as it was a woman..any woman.

I am a woman, I was a cheerleader 40 years ago and I have a mentally disabled sister. Why wasn't I nominated!!! I have never missed an election in 46 years and I never voted on someone I had no knowledge of. I love my country more than that.

I think people are forgetting that Palin is not running in this election. This is a PRESIDENTIAL election. This contest is between McCain/Obama not Obama/Palin. Her views on pro-life are OK for her but she can not decide for all women. She wants to overturn Roe and Wade, after that was debated and in the courts for years. This would be a serious set-back to Women's Rights in a terrible way unless YOU happen to think a little girl of 12 that was raped must bear the child of that crime and ruin her life even more.

Many of her views differ from McCain's and with them both hot-heads and determined to get their way, I certainly do not see this as a match made in heaven or them trying to work together on anything. She has many views that actually are those of Obama's.

I keep an open mind until I get to know someone and now I know Palin is one lie after another.

Lie 1.......Bridge to No Where..only changed her mind when forced toand never returned the money for that project
Lie 2.......Sold jet on Ebay for a profit..sold to a broker many months later for a loss
Lie 3.......Palin visited Iraq.she never left the Kuwait border. She also never "visited" Finland.. it was merely a re-fueling stop.
Lie 4.......She had no earmarks everyone has earmarks but why lie about it?And the Troopergate problem remains and she is trying to block the subpoenas. Another lie, Sarah? We seem to hear a new lie every couple of days. Are these important in your everyday life? Of course not but it depends on if you wish to be lied to over and over again.

That awful interview did it for me big time. She was horrid, knew nothing, and fumbled through all the things she had been scripted on totally missing the basis of the questions. She rambled on speaking of things not relevant to the questions put to her. Some say the interview was too hard for poor Sarah. She is a candidate first and a women second. What should Chuck has asked her? What's your favorite color? Where do you shop? Who does your hair? She is running for Vice President not camp fire leader.

This is the same woman who stated two weeks ago she had no idea of what the Vice President even does but this week is now ready to even be President! Her acceptance speech at the Republican Convention was very good but please remember that was a scripted speech, written by former Bush speechwriter Matthew Scully. Palin's job was simply to read it after many days of practice!

When we saw where this country was going 4 years ago and once again voted to elect Bush for 4 more years, people got exactly what they asked for. So why are you crying about the price of gas, the economy, the war in Iraq, etc? YOU voted for it.

As this campaign comes to an end, the air ways will be full of John McCain's swift boarding ads aimed at Senator Obama. This is a tactic used by Republicans with no thought to honesty or integrity. Dirty politics as it is referred to simply to win a campaign.

Ask yourself how much more we can take of the Republican Party?

Well, the Repubs can accuse Kerry of flip flopping--but not themselves.

And they can drill baby drill until our babies won't know what a wilderness is.

And they can fight the "war from God" for a hundred years until the deficit crushes.

I am in fear for my country. That is why I am voting for Obama.

The Republicans did nothing but debate Kerry\'s service records but when Bush\'s records were requested, they were missing.

Everyone honors servicemen and women but honestly, McCains POW statis goes back 42 years ago and he still bleeds it to death.  Hundreds of our men went thru the same thing and they barely mention it.

It\'s time to get off that old story and move on into this century.  I personally have heard the "cross in the sand" story 50 times and it grows each time.

this was about as far as i could read.  the topic is far more complex than warrants an opinion-bending scare tactic like this.  twelve year old girls ought to know how to fire a gun, and if you're the libertarian you say you are, i believe you ought to know all about that.

my contention is that you either know you're misrepresent the issue, or are  writing on the subject with no thought of general constitutional law. -- roe v. wade has had repercussions for civil liberties that i really don't think you'd find all that favorable if they were used to violate your morality.

i think you should take a step back and at the very least read the wikipedia articles on the subject of abortion, then re-write this article. it's patently wrong that overturning roe v. wade would ban abortion nation-wide.

further, i don't appreciate the author of the article indirectly making an ad hominem attack on any dissenting commenter, knowing full well that everyone who comments is forced to agree not to do so themselves (not that i feel i need to make similar accusations).

It should be noted that Palin's beliefs do not necessarily dictate the way she governs. In fact, she is a very shrewd, intelligent, calculating and extremely ambitious woman. As governor, she has stated her positions on various conservative culture wars positions and then moved on by saying essentially, I believe in this, but it isn't a battle I'm willing to fight as governor. Why, because she has been very focused on her legislative agenda and it is much more mainstream than any of the right wing religious positions she holds.

If she were President I'm quite sure this pragmatism would continue. Bottom line, she seems to want to be President someday and will be using this role, whether elected this time or not, as a springboard to higher office. She lost a bid for Lt. Governor in Alaska before becoming Governor.

Her positions on taxing the oil companies to send checks to the citizens isn't exactly libertarian.

My point is that I don't think we need to fear her conservative positions. My other point is that in a sense we are voting for the top spot when we vote for Palin, not only this time but next. And there is a real groundswell of her supporters already stating that she WILL be the next POTUS.

Interesting, huh?

On the Bridge to Nowhere and Earmarks

What state would turn down Money from the Federal Government?  To get that money and use it for their own purposes is in the best interest of their citizens of THEIR state.

How many of you refused your own personal "earmark" stimulus check?  No one forced you to cash it did they?  Oh, you viewed it as your own money being returned?  Even Ron Paul tries to get the money back for his consituents.  He may not vote to pass it, but he does add it to the bills....and for the exact same reason.

On Abortion

Like Ron Paul, Sarah Palin said the issue should be decided at at the state level.  She also stated their is a difference in her personal beliefs and the law.  She did not state her goal was to make her personal beliefs the law or policy.

The interview on ABC was one sided.

As soon as the reporter said we would here the fact and the fable, it was obvious what they were planning to do.  ABC would have not done the same style of interview with Obama, or Clinton.

This author is a DEMOCRAT - NOT a Libertarian.  Look at her author page - this is her only article and it clearly states that she is a life-long democrat.

Any true Libertarian who would vote for Obama - the WORST record on the Constitution, taxes and spending in the history of the country, is downright insane.

As for Palin, she has NEVER allowed her PERSONAL views to affect her as governor.  She vetoed an anti-gay bill and refused to sign legislation limiting abortion rights.

Only democrats ignore the truth and fall for empty rhetoric.

I don't care who you vote for - McCain, Barr, Baldwin, Nader or McKinney.  But a vote for Obama is a vote to destroy our economy and our Constitutional Rights and Liberties all in one shot.

Sorry, but I just read through this article (my first post was just after a breeze-over).

Lady, next time you post an article, use proper grammar.  And it was Ireland, not Finland - and SHE never said that, some stupid idiot did (same with Iraq).

It's Charlie, not Chuck.

She said she "Put the plane on Ebay."  TRUE!  McCain stupidly said at a profit.  It sold to a broker at a loss, but she still saved the taxpayers all the money that would have been spent on insurance and fuel.

She canned the bridge, but it was her predecessor who created that debacle; the money was there when she became governor - she used it for infrastructure - just like EVERY OTHER STATE!  No state gives back earmarks.

She also cut the earmark requests in half - no other governor has ever done that.  She also made them transparent - it was all slipped in at the last minute behind closed doors before she took office.

Our government is so corrupt - that is why states have no choice but to ask for earmarks.  Because the states are robbed blind by the federal government.  That is because of the democrats who are against State's Rights and autonomy.

As for "Troopergate" she was fully cooperating until Obama supporters took over the investigation.  In America we still have the right to an attorney, and she is simply protecting herself from an obviously biased unfair investigation.  Only an idiot would not get an attorney in this case.

Two Democrats and three Republicans are the investigators.  Wow.  Really tainted, isn't it?

Charlie Gibson is also called Chuck in many articles.

The Senate canned the bridge.

And why is she so afraid of what her staffers will say regarding Troopergate?  The only ones who need a lawyer are those who are trying to hold things up until the election is over.  If there is nothing to it, then get it over with and move on.

So, you will vote for Obama because of what? Even though if those statements were true, they are pale compared with Obama's records. You name them, racism, socialism, patriotism, etc, etc. You should be more afraid of the true "change" he is bringing.
