Is Scientology good or evil? Did Obama really call Palin a pig? Did Barr's hissy fit win or lose votes? Why is American liberty taking another hit? by rtbohan

While the Nolan Chart concentrates on the first question and the political campaigns, the media and the rest of the internet concentrate on the seconc and third, the important news is another attack in the government's "War on Liberty" ([link edited for length]).
My own reaction to the first three questions is "I don't care." I think that the first question is of interest only to Scientologists and busybodies, the second only to McCain flacks and the third only to the supporters of Mr. Barr.
The important question is the last. What the administration is pleased to call the "War on Terror" but which is really a war against the liberty or the American people, made another advance today. Beginning on October first, unless it is stopped, the police state stranglehold on America will be strengthened. By executive order, individual F.B.I. agents will be allowed to institute investigations, hire informants, conduct secret surveillance without getting authorization from superiors or filing any reports. If they pull this one off, watch for secret cells, "disappearances" and torture. The Federal secret police have today made more apparent their desire to emulate the K.G.B., the Stasi and the Gestapo in "protecting national security" and "fighting crime."
Only the people can stop the imposition of the totalitarian police on America. But the people, who are being organized unless there is leadersip from the media, or the poiticians, or from what is coming to be called the netroots.
There is little to hope from the media which have shown themselves adept at reporting non-news as something important.
What about our poitical leaders? Our President, soon to be out of office, is the patron of the police state. Obama says he will be "change" and "hope" to America, but while he promises universal health care and national service, he also voted for our secret court system, and does not seem inclined to take on the forces of oppression in this country. John McCain claims to be the candidate of "American values", but hia "American Values" seem to include torture, warrentless searches and support for the DHS. Bob Barr is running as a Libertarian, but his record shows that while he may be a Libertarian when he is a private citizen, while in office he showed himself distrinctly anti-libertarian. Maybe it's just as well to keep him a private citizen. Cynthia McKiinney and Chuck Baldwin are running on platforms with some Libertarian elements, but McKinney might want a police state to enforce her environmental program, which is distinctly NOT a program based on free choices by a free people, and Baldwin may want the police to enforce the Constitution Party's effort to bring the constitution more in line with the Bible (whatever that may entail).
I am posting this rant not because I believe I can, as one man, have much effect but because I believe the Republic and its people are endangered by the growing police state. Unless others will take up the call and we can build a movement from the bottom up, the Republic and its people are doomed.

It is unfortunate, I would say, that your understanding of the situation has only looked at the "War on Terror" by looking at this war as being against the liberty of the American public, It is an unfortunate view because it ignores the greater picture available in today's era of multi-facted publication.
Yes, Americans have their rights somewhat limited. Compare this trampling on human rights agains the initiating event. Four large airplanes laden with passengers and fuel bombs are flown by suicide pilots,. Trampling on the human rights, yea, the very lives of 1000s of hard working peoples from accross the globe, those suicide pilots performed the ultimate sin against human rights by taking the lives of men and woman seeking to create a better, more prosperous life. And not only for themselves, but the victim's efforts were serving the global community.
France lived with street terrorism for 3 days, are the French ways better? Pakistan's citizens perform terroristic activity every month on ajoining countries, are its ways better? England disallows arms to its citizens. Are its ways better?
Your view is too narrow, the small window you squint through, unncessarily opaque. Take another look.
Terryeo, it isnt' about others it is about us, our freedoms our liberties. I don't buy into the whole 911 hoopla. 3K people die every day in some way. I would rather die by a terrorist attack then to have my liberties userped by my government. Sorry but I take Old Ben's words to heart when he said the man that chooses temparary security of liberty deserves neither!!! I choose liberty over fear everday of the week and twice Sunday!!!

Bow down to the police state if you choose but don't take me down with you.
The point is, that the threat is there, but the actions of the government are not aimed at anything except the increasing regimentation of the population of the United States

The situation today is very like a replay of Germany in the '30's - "false flag events" (e.g., Gulf of Tonkin, Oklahoma City, 9/11), to entice the sheople to give up some of their liberty, a "slice at a time" (the salami technique). The elements of the plan were outlined by Marx about 1850 in the "Communist Manifesto" and we have pretty much achieved all ten "planks". Later that century, Cecil Rhodes enabled part of the implementation of the "global plantation" by providing for the education of an "elite" (e.g., Clinton as a "Rhodes Scholar"). After the founding of the CFR by Rockefeller, the visible front of this movement has been announcing their plans in their publication "Foreign Affairs") for all to see.
Unfortunately, by this time another part of the plan was active - that is the "dumbing down" of the populace. We now graduate kids from schools that can't read their diploma, thanks to the Fed Ed Dept - but they "feel good about it!"
There's a lot more to say, but not in a comment - perhaps an article. One other observation: all this took generations to occur, so it will not be an overnight fix. I agree, it needs to be done "bottom up" because the "top" is bought and paid for, so it will not happen that way.
One ray of hope or this oldster is that younger people seem to be catching on. I pray that's it not too late.
"Baldwin may want the police to enforce the Constitution Party's effort to bring the constitution more in line with the Bible (whatever that may entail)."
It's called returning America to her Biblical "jurisprudence". Get it right. The definition of jurisprudence is the science or philosophy of law.
Our laws have a moral foundation (not a libertarian, man-made foundation).
He wants to simply follow and enforce the Constitution. How many libertarians can say that? They are all about "ideas" of small government, lower taxes and civil liberties -- which means we could end up with just about anything -- including tyranny.
Chuck Baldwin wants you to trust the "Law of the Land," not him personally or his ideas. It's all about the oath of office people, not personality, pragmatism or partisan politics.
