The Price of Old McBama

Notes on the Economy and the price of Old McBama( "Old McBama owned someone else's farm EYEYOoooo, and on that farm he had some starving proletariat slaves EYEYOoooo, with a whip whip here, and a gas gas there, here a whip, there a gas, everywhere a whip, whip ,gas..."):

First, this excellent article on just what is going on with the economy:

And then this next article which calls whats going on what it really is:

[link edited for length]

Yes, people, I HAVE seen our enemy, and WE ARE THEM! What was it Ronald Reagan said? "There's a bear in the woods..." There is a bear in the woods, and its name is old McBama! Old McBama is more than just the combined names of our current major contenders for the presidential nomination of the United States of America. Old McBama represents a continuation of policies that have brought America to the brink of her destruction.

Joseph Stalin said, "America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."
Oh, how right he was! This man who starved people to get his way, knew just what he was up against with America. Indeed we ARE collapsing from within! Indeed we have become the fledgling communist country he so desired to make us!

We are LOST, and it wasn't the Democrats by themselves that took us here. What is worse than the fact that evil men have manipulated us to this horrible station, is that the American people no longer care that we are there. The American people, despite the catastrophe which has happened to our once free and independent country are on the cusp of purposely continuing down this road to what will finish our collapse! It has always been my essential belief that, in spite of the liberalism(new definition) being foisted on our country, there was a core of true patriots. In the past year or two, I had been instilled with high hopes that we were headed to a better place, despite the past eight years of liberty stealing policies on the part of our government. However, in watching what has happened in the last several months, I seriously have my doubts. Things like that which has recently been demonstrated at the Republican National Convention:

The following was forwarded to me and is by members of the maine delegation. I have removed e-mail addresses to protect the senders.

Subject: An update on what's really going at the Republican Convention

Just thought I would share with you what's really on here at the Republican
National Convention and have attached an article in yesterday's Washington
Times.

Fox reported that the Convention was packed. Not true 1000's of empty seats
at the convention. Fox reports we, delegates were attacked by protesters.
Not true, fifteen foot high metal fences a 1000 yards away prevented us from
even seeing the protesters. There is probably a larger contingent of
military and police than there are delegates and alternate. Buses each with
an armed law enforcement officials take us from the hotel to the convention
each day. Upon arrival you go through two level of electronic security like
the airport. Once you arrive on the convention floor, they have security
guards every ten feet facing the rows of delegates. No delegate is allowed
to speak throughout the convention. Periodically the security guards, will
tell the delegates to rise and cheer. Prior to the convention, delegates
were told no banners or signs would be allowed. At opening of the
convention, the convention floor was flood with McCain banners. At
different times, there were a large contingent of men with McCain baseball
caps at the entranceway out of site at the entrances to the aisles. When
Joe Lieberman or one of the other McCain celebrities were introduced, the
young men with red baseball caps were release and sent down the aisles to
cheers and then returned to back of the convention floor to await the next
cue to fill the aisle make it appear that the convention floor was filled.
Neither the platform committee nor any speaker spoke of the wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan or the sad state of our economy. As televised on C-Span, no
more than 20 minutes was devoted to any platform item. No platform
resolution submitted by a Ron Paul delegate was approved. No Ron Paul
delegate was selected to serve on either the Platform or Rules committee. No
delegate/alternate had an opportunity to read the rules because they were
not made available until the start of the convention. Thus the opportunity
to offer floor amendments was impossible. As Ron Paul delegate, I was made
to feel like a turd in punch bowl.....may have something to do with the
large Ron Paul button I was wearing and my refusal to stand amidst all the
cheering for folks like Joe Lieberman. When asked my the Maine delegation
whip if I would vote for John McCain, I told them I would be voting for Ron
Paul. His reply was the Maine delegation would not announce 20 votes for
John McCain and 1 for Ron Paul. Rather they would just announce 20 votes for
McCain Apparently, he felt that uttering Ron Paul's name would be giving
Ron Paul too much publicity.

More than one delegate shared by view that control over the delegates speech
and movements along with the ever-present police seemed somewhat
totalitarian and intimidating.

Were it not for the wonderful hospitality of the legion of Minneapolis and
St. Paul volunteers and staff who catered to our every whim, this would have
been a pretty dismal experience. Additionally, we have made several new
friend across the country amidst Ron Paul and the Maine delegation.

When we get back, we will need a little rest to what future contribution we
might make to get our beloved country back on track.

In closing, I would like to say a special thank to David Santoro, Gayle
Finkbeiner, Michael Jose, and my lifelong friend who helped us defray the
expense of this adventure at the Republican National Convention.

Then there are these articles:

Quote:
What difference is there between the crowds of flag-waving Republicans and the apparatchiks I covered as a reporter in the old East German Communist Party? These Republican delegates, like the fat and compromised party functionaries in East Berlin, all fawned on cue over an inept and corrupt party hierarchy.
Quote:
In Denver, but particularly in St. Paul, dissent was crushed with a massive array of paramilitarized police, operating under the U.S. Secret Service, granted jurisdiction over the "National Special Security Events" that the conventions have been dubbed.

The above is the blog of someone I personally worked with during the campaign.

And yet we as Americans stand by like those Germans stood by while their Jewish brothers and sisters were interred. "They obviously deserve it, or why would the government treat them that way?" We turn our heads. We're getting pretty good at it too. They make it easy on us by giving us someone else pretty to look at. Its easy to say, "Well at least its not us!" Yes, we stand by like the world did when Stalin was starving those in Ukraine. We stand by like the world did as Pol Pot was mass murdering those in Cambodia. We stand by like the US government did, watching Tiananmen Square and now proudly proclaiming the murderers our trading partner! Its easy to have a short memory when you look away. You can almost call it a bad dream.

We all need to count the cost. What is the cost of electing Old McBama? What is the cost of continuing down this road toward tyranny? I look at the ransom that has been paid by those whose liberty has been sold to the highest bidder before us, and I say the cost is too high! What horror has happened when the rights of free speech of Americans have been exchanged for gas masks and rubber bullets? The Patriot Act was invoked here for what? Was it to fight terrorists? Are our people terrorists? Is it now terrorism to dissent in America? Are these people now radicalized homegrown terrorists? Can someone please tell me how we can morally turn a blind eye to this manipulation of the American political process? Ben Franklin once said that we had a republic if we could keep it. Obviously we can't and the reason we can't is that there is NOBODY willing to stand and defend her!
