WASHINGTON (AP) Ron Paul says he rejected John McCain's appeal for his endorsement. [link edited for length]
Paul said: "The idea was that he would do less harm than the other candidate." (Emphasis added)
Paul made the announcementat a news conference with third-party candidates, including Ralph Nader and former Georgia Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney. Paul suggested backing the non-major party candidates as a show of voter dissatisfaction with the current 2-party system.
Conspicuous by his absence was Bob Barr, Libertarian Party candidate who, after accepting an invitation, backed outsometime before the start saying the effort "is just not worth it". This is certainly another snub directed at Congressman Paul and will likely further alienate many Paul supporters who were possibly planning to cast their vote in his favor.
Barr's past record has not made him many friends outside the Libertarian Party 'inner circle'. Barr spent much of his life jailing people on behalf of the federal government for possessing substances that the state disapproves of, before recently "seeing the light". Even since his supposed revelation, he has praised the troop surge, argued for intervention in Iran and South America, advocated a national sales tax and voted for the PATRIOT Act twice.
Small wonder the other 'third parties' are taking time out to make their pitch in the Ron Paul camp.

Well, the LP has lost my vote for their presidential candidate, this year, which I was going to give reluctantly since Baldwin isn't on the ballot in CA. Now I'm not sure where I'm going, but not LP for that particular office, in any event.
Pity. They had so many potentially promising candidates to choose amongst.
I don't see reason to advertise their current presidential candidate's name by putting it on the internet, though.
