Last night I was watching MEGA TV which is a small network out of Miami. I was watching the only show I ever watch in Spanish called "Jaime Bayly". It is on channel 22 on my Direct TV.
Jaime Bayly is a TV personality, much like Bill O'Reilly, in the sense that there really is a no spin zone in his program, but unlike Bill, he is a very likable person. He is always very professional and educated. Mr. Bayly talks about world and national events and frankly keeps me up to date with news on Latin America. He exposes the corruption that goes on in Venezuela and around Latin America with specific examples of the day's happenings. He either does a one on one interview or does the whole program talking to the TV viewership.
Jaime Bayly has an extensive background as a writer, journalist and of course, TV host. To give you some background, it was Jaime Bayly who put that network on the map. MEGA TV is an up and coming network thanks to him; much like the Simpsons and Married with Children did for the Fox network back in the day. To give you further background on Jaime Bayly and for those not familiar with Jaime Bayly, he is also much like Howard Stern in the sense that his private life and public like is one and the same, and will freely talk about it on the air, but without the vulgarity.
Yesterday's show started with Mr. Bayly saying he had just received emails from MEGA TV management angry that he had complained about the air conditioning being too cold during his previous live broadcast. You see, he had been complaining about this to management and nothing was ever done, so he finally had to complain about it being to cold during his live show to get some action. Mr. Bayly was actually hospitalized not long ago due to repeatedly getting sick. Of course, immediately after his shows comments, the a/c temperature was fixed.
During his live show last night, Jaime went on to say he was disappointed that the network never came through on his contract, which called for a raise back in August and that if anyone should be angry, it should be he.
Mr. Bayly went on to explain that the network used the economy as the excuse and thus was unwilling to obey the written contract. At approximately 10:22pm during this speech, the network cut him off the air and went on to commercials that lasted about 10 minutes. When the commercials were finally over, the network came back with a repeated segment of Jaime Bayly's last week's show, like nothing ever happened.
My friends this is censorship, and it should be exposed. The MEGA TV network acted much like Hugo Chavez in shutting down the TV networks down. We must not allow America to become Venezuela and we must break free as new immigrants to America from the old habits of censorship that go on in our native countries.

If MEGA TV is owned privately or even publicly held through investors then this is NOT CENSORSHIP. If on the other hand, MEGA TV receives tax-funding like NPR does, then not only is it censorship it wrong to be funding them. In Venezuela, the stations owned by the government do the censorship. The government should not own media companies.
If you have your own company and your employee or contractor talks crap about your company, you have the right to get him out of there.
If you don't like the actions of MEGA TV, then don't watch it, and then of course talk crap about them here because it is your right too.
Mega TV is making a mistake censoring Jaime Bailey. Freedom of speech it is the most valuable tool that anyone can have in a Democratic Society. Jaime Bailey is a well educated person capable of exposing corruption and other problems that our world is facing daily.
I agree with TRD. However but employers censor employees all the time rather it is limiting or forbidding personal calls or non work related conversations et. al.
On the other hand, this situation does not fit into the connotative definition of "censorship" it is however, very similar to Godwin's law in relation to the use of Nazi comparisons, in that the over use and misuse of allegations of censorship.
Jaime as the right do say what ever he wants but he does not have the right to use someone else's private property (such as the networks broadcasting equipment) to say it. The right to use or lend said property belongs to the property owner/s not Jaime so they are not censoring Jaime they are not letting him use their equipment to broadcast his message but they are not censoring his message. Further, to force someone to use their property against their will to disseminate a message they disagree with can also be called a form of censorship.
Yes, this is censorship because of the way they did it in my opinion. I WAS THERE last night in the audience. It appears that Mr. Raul Alarcon is afraid of the truth that Jaime Bayly was speaking is all and in typical fashion of the rich and powerful of Latin America, he doesn't want the people to hear it. The "How dare you insult me/expose me I'm better than you I'll pull the plug" attitude that makes Alarcon just as bad as Chavez and Castro. He got pissed that he was compared to them..well don't act like them! It would have been different if he would have received a warning, OK, maybe then MegaTV would have a little bit to stand on (although the audacity of giving a warning like that...hmm) Jaime Bayly MADE that channel..and without him it WILL break. Raul Sr. must be rolling in his grave about now.

Muccho gusto saber que este peruanito que es chistoso y atrevido, capaz y profesionalmente embustero le hayan callado por unos minutos, sin embargo para la gente que ve su programa, les podria comentar que no lo tomen como Latin American news, El hace bosquejos chistosos de lo que a su juicio personal son las verdades, pero cabe senalar que para que los americanos me entiendan es un radical republicano, amante de Bush y de la ultraderecha latinoamericana.
Totalmente deacuerdo con el comentario anterior,Este senor es un republicano el cual solo espone sus intereses personales y opiniones tratando de hacer creer o ver que es la verdad cuando en realidad son sus muy personales intereses.Este senor es una persona muy problematica por ese mismo detalle,quiere imponer sus intereses personales a los demas,tambien fue expulsado de "Telemundo Internacional" en Miami donde tuvo un programa por varios anos hace ya unos 10 ,15 anos atras.Ahora tiene problemas con el senor Alarcon, tuvo y tiene problemas con la senora Laura Bozo y Magaly en Peru, el tiene problemas con todo el mundo, le cierran las puertas.Un periodista tiene que ser neutral y creer en la Democracia no imponer ideas y hablar o escribir de lo que como persona cree o le gusta.

pienso que si este pais quiere demostrar que verdaderamente es un ejemplo de democracia no deberia permitir acciones represivas con la prensa, el sr.Bayly es libre como ser humano y figura de tv de expresarse con libertad, yo soy peruana y pensaba que estas situaciones solo ocurrian en paises bajo dictaduras o los mal calificados com tercermundistas; espero que Jaime continue su programa porque es sinceramente lo unico interesante que tenemos en la television hispana, es una pena que aqui en USA nos tengamos que conformar con "don francisco" y otros programas por el estilo que lo unico que hacen es embrutecernos y hacer pensar a los anglos que somos inferiores, HELLO!!!!! por favor, productores trabajen en opciones inteligentes que demuestren que los latinos somos educados y capaces, basta de Lauras y jueces y demas huachaferias.
Yo soy mexicana y el unico programa en espanol interesante que veo es Jaime Bayly, estoy cansada que en los demas canales todo es farandula basura, taranovelas y noticieros amarillistas, con Bayly me entero de la realidad en cuestion politica de toda Latinoamerica y dice mas que la verdad, tambien me encanta que a traves de el he conocido por su programa el francotirador a personalidades peruanas desde comediantes hasta politicos. Es muy ocurrente y no tiene pelos en la lengua, ademas de inteligente. Me hace reir mucho y eso es precisamente lo que buscamos al encender nuestro televisor. Felicidades Sr. Bayly y por su programa le he agarrado mucho carino y respeto a los PERUANOS y los felicito por su extraordinaria COMIDA.
Jaime Bayly, si te echan de ahi, vete, seguramente tendras una oportunidad mejor en otra parte. Nunca vuelvas atras, sigue defiende lo que crees justo y ante todo amate y respetate a ti mismo.
Hay un dicho que dice "el que no llora, no mama". El Sr. Bayly habia pedido lo que su contrato decia, vinieron las excusas el se quejo publicamente, lo censuraron. Pero luego que paso? El mismo Sr. Bayly dias despues publicamente le dio las gracias al Sr. Alarcon por haberle dado su aumento. Tan sencillo como eso. BRAVO Bayly
A mi me encanta Bailey pero yo creo que de la libertad de expresion a la vulgaridad hay un trecho.Yo soy bastante moderna en mi manera de pensar sin embargo el programa lo ven muchas personas mayores de edad, como mi mama de 86 anos.Para mi es una falta de respeto.Ahora ,en nota de broma para Jaime me pregunto si pretende ser el nuevo Orson(Whales) Wells. to Franco, why all in upper case? are you screaming,(like Chavez) why are you writing in English if the program and public speack spanish, Mr Bayly could have his own oppinions, and that have to be respected also his audience do not lie, for some reason he has some rating and is comming back. I guess this is freedom of speach, something that is not happening in Venezuela or Cuba.
Si bien el caracter se expresa generalmente con determinado nivel de educacion, el contenido de su retorica es ofensivo, y descubre una personalidad desviada a los parametros usuales de nuestra sociedad. Es de notar la determinacion en su lucha contra aquellos recientes atropellos politicos que vivimos en Venezuela y otros paises de la region, sin embargo no comprometo mi opinion a esta causa comun. No creo en la sensura, por lo que al darme cuenta de las desviaciones sociales del Sr. Bayly, sencillamente lo deje de ver. Hoy despues de mucho tiempo, frene el control remoto en su espacio y no tarde 5 minutos en darme cuenta de que sus expresiones, al igual que las del presidente Chavez, estan dirigidas a un segmento de la sociedad hiper-permisivo, inmune a extremismos de todo indole.
La verdad solia ver su programa cuando vivian en Ecuador. -hace 8 aneos -. Ahora radicado en USA me he desconectado de su programa sin embargo en una ocacion lo pude ver en mi Iphone por You tube y me llamo tremendamente la atencion pues pude ver un comentario sobre el presidente Ecuatoriano "Rafael Correa" que lo trataba de cachorro del presidente Venezolano. Segui mirando otros programas y para mi sorpresa aparecia insultando a otros presidentes latinoamericanos como son; Daniel Ortega, Hugo Chavez, Evo Morales, Rafael Correa, etc. Los trataba de; violador, tarado, inculto, iletrado, tirano, gorila, asesino, etc. Por mas educado e inteligente que sea el Sr. Bayly no puede tratar asi a los presidentes de nuestras diferentes naciones pues merence ante todo respeto. El Sr. Bayly debe recordar que fueron elegidos democraticamente y al insultar asi a estas "Dignidades" esta insultando tambien al pueblo que los elegio. Curiosamente no he visto o me he perdido de ver comentarios en contra o a favor de el Ex Presidente Bush. Se supone que "Jaime Bayly" esta viviendo en USA y no en Latinoamerica. Parece que el Sr. sufre de una miopi leve pues la crisis finaciera se origino aqui y luego se ha ido expandiendo como una pandemia al resto de paises del mundo. Seguramente no le conviene hacer comentarios en contra de la politica neoliberal. En todo caso el punto es que al Sr. Bayly no le compete tomar partido ni por la izquierda ni por la derecha . Tampoco tiene la autoridad moral para insultar o menospreciar el nivel intelectual de ningun presidente Latinoamericano. Seria fabuloso ver al Sr. Bayly utilizaando su espacio televisivo para informar, entretener y educar a nuestra pueblo mas no para inducir a tomar partido por una determinada forma de pensar. No existe una receta magica en el mundo que pueda arreglar la situacion de miseria e injusticia de nuestros pueblos si lo hubiera estoy seguro que el Sr. Bayly se postularia para presidente del Peru para asi transformar a este pais en una potencia mundial.
