The Status Quo of American Politics Hey, America... they're stealing your country!by USAF Vet Dan

While this election cycle's names and faces are different, the "politics" presented to the American people remains that of the status quo. Americans have been gradually conditioned to accept the empty rhetoric of the RepubliCrats... the empty jingoisms flowing from the candidates' mouths, the focus of the candidate's "character" rather than their platforms, and the false perception that, as president, they can implement their ambiguous policies as if they were some omnipotent dictator.
With everyone's attention focused on these meaningless trivialities, few seem to notice that Obama's stated platform is pure Marxism - certainly contrary to the Constitution and the very principles on which this once great nation was founded. While he points his finger at Bush for the decline in our economy, the energy crisis, and a disasterous, imperialistic foreign policy, he neglects to mention that, without the support of the Democrat-controlled Congress, none of these failed policies would have been possible. In the past, the Republicans have done the same thing when the shoe was on the other foot. Hence, we witness more of the same RepubliCrat status quo.
At age 50, I've seen American opinion gradually change from vehement anti-communism to an expanded acceptance of this failed system. Many Obama supporters openly accept and promote his intended migration from a Democratic Republic to a Marxist form of government. Most of them see themselves as future benefactors of the government dole so their support is not surprising. Others seem to chose to turn a blind eye to this as they are consumed by their understandable repulsion of our government of the past 8 years.
Those who reject Obama are stuck with the "lessor of two evils" or, perhaps more accurately, the "evil of two lessors". Beyond those who embrace McCain's neoconservative statist agenda, the majority of his supporters will choke back the vomit in their throats when they cast their anti-Obama vote for him. While they may vehemently disagree with his dangerous, imperialistic, nation-building foreign policy, his desire to expand the role of government (while perhaps not as much as Obama), and his fascist intention to further erode our rights of privacy and due process, they see McLame as less dangerous than Obama.
What so many Americans have failed to realize is that this "lessor of two evils" scenario is the intentional outcome of the corporate-controlled Republican and Democrat parties. Regardless of who wins, the direction the winner and Congress will take our nation will be farther from our roots of freedom, liberty and prosperity. By design, the Democratic Republic will weaken and the Socialist Oligarchy will strengthen. The precious gift of freedom and liberty we once uniquely enjoyed as Americans, secured by the blood and lives of so many of our fathers, grandfathers... of generations past, will further erode. At this rate, it will be but a few short years before this gift is gone forever and expunged from history as if it never existed.
But we are not without hope. As evidenced by the Rally for the Republic (Ron Paul's counter convention), not all Americans have been bamboozled by the RepubliCrat parties, the corporate-controlled media, and our DOE-controlled education system. Time will tell if a sleeping giant is awakening or if these Patriots will merely be the voices of freedom's last whimper.
