Who's Afraid of Sarah Palin (And Why)

When Afraid, Attack is the Mantra. So who is afraid of Sarah Palin, and why are they afraid?
by EJ Moosa

If you listen carefully, you can just hear between the well prepared lines, and determine why Sarah Palin is such a threat to the political infrastructure of these United States.

In Denver last week, we heard of the American Dream as lived by one Barack Obama. How a black man in Chicago without a dad, went to law school, turned down the high paying lawyer job, and went on (via the Chicago political machine) to become the nominee of the Democratic Party. Those who control that dream- the Chicago political machine, the Democratic Party itself, and the media are afraid. They cannot have some PTA mom from a small town in Alaska define another path to the top. If Sarah Palin succeeds, they lose.

Two weeks ago we saw Barack Obama select Joe Biden, a senator with decades of experience as his vice presidential running mate. Senator Biden's experience has been advertised as the reason he is such a good running mate. In today's papers, details about how he fought for Israel. How did he fight? By casting votes in the Senate. By talking to his colleagues about how to vote.

Using this logic, I have been fighting for this nation for decades myself, talking to friends and families about how to vote for not just President, but local and state elections as well. If Sarah Palin wins, Joe Biden, and the rest of the career politicians who hold hope that if they just hang in there, play the game, then one day they may be called upon for a position such as Biden has been called will become big losers. If Sarah Palin wins, the career politicians lose.

The old school political establishment is at risk if Palin wins with John McCain. It means that you do not need to make a lifelong career of being a politician, wining and dining with lobbyists, to effectively run government. It then means that people such as you and I, who can read and follow a constitution, could be an effective leader. It means that if Sarah Palin wins, we all become potential winners. The potential is then based upon what we do with it.

The position of governor of a state should hold much more respect than being a Senator. There are 100 Senators. There are only 50 governors. Senators run for reelection once every 6 years-governors every four years. With Senators they can vote both ways on the same issue in their position-with Governors the buck stops with them. They do not get that luxury. If Sarah Palin wins, we can say State government trumps a lifetime of Federal Service.

The belief that government is highly complicated and that it is too difficult to do by a common citizen is at risk. Who has propagated that myth? Career politicians and lobbyists who have invested millions, that is who. If Sarah Palin wins, she proves that it is not so complicated that a determined individual cannot do an excellent job by FOLLOWING the Constitution. What a concept!

If Sarah Palin wins, lawyers lose.  Can't we get away from lawyers as political leaders?  Biden trained as a lawyer, Obama was a lawyer, the Clintons were lawyers. McCain is not a lawyer. Palin was a business student.  Don't we want someone with business sense rather than ltigation sense leading our nation?  Haven't lawyers done enough to our nation already?

And despite what some Libertarians worry about, if Sarah Palin wins, our movement will win. Candidates of the future will bring more of what the winners possessed to the table in 2012. If Sarah Palin wins, we will have more smaller government candidates in the future. (And if Obama/Biden win, we will have more big government American Promise candidates-because that is what it took to win)

If Sarah Palin wins, and is just a breath away from being President of the United States, then We, the People will win. In 2012, she just might be the candidate to beat for the position of President of the United States. And if that were to occur, that would be much sooner than we would have gotten a Constitution following, smaller government candidate in position to win the White House.

We wanted a shift in power in Washington. This is your chance. What are you going to do? Fantasize about what could have been? Hope things get worse before they get better and think the American people will shift big time in 2012? Can we afford the hit to our economy by Obama/Biden?

Am I afraid that Sarah Palin could be one breath away from being President? Hell no-I would be relieved.

So tell me how I can lose if Palin wins? When she wins, we will all win.

OK, not all of us. Those that have controlled our political processes will lose.

But I am OK with that. What about you?

The fact that Palin did not come up through the good old boys network is nice but not a sufficient reason to vote fore her. Her policies are the important part. In that regard I like her support for the second amendment, her skepticism of AGW, and her support for oil drilling in Alaska. But where does she stand on other issues?

W has a nasty habit of calling people "enemy combatants" and then throwing them in prison without charges, without regard to habeas corpus, without due process, without a trial, and without a presumption of innocence. That means he could call you an enemy combatant and put you in jail and leave you there until you rot. Does Sarah support that position?

Does Sarah support the pointless war in Iraq?

Does Sarah support the unconstitutional BCRA act which McCain wrote?

According to ontheissues.org, she has said that she would like an exit plan for the war in Iraq. Also, on youtube there's an interview done in June by Glen Beck where she says we're fighting "in some sense over oil" and tapping Alaska's reserves could lessen our interests in the middle east. She also says she probably wouldnt run with McCain if chosen, haha.

The London Telegraph of Sep. 1 mentions that " in 2007 her state received the highest per capita amount of federal funding....She also supported multi-billion-dollar tax increase on Alaska's oil industry, and approved a £250 million state subsidy to a Canadian company wanting to build a natural gas pipeline through Alaska."

Maybe she was a "small government candidate," but she sure sounds like a big government governor.

I liked Sarah Palin last night. I think the Democrats are feeling threatened. And if McCain wins, it's because of her.  If McCain loses, it's because of him.  I'm still voting for Bob Barr as I feel it's more important to send a message and support Third parties in America.

It's hard to imagine any politician would think you could hold Americans as enemy combatants and then deny them due process of law.  Bush did it and still won reelection.  Without my support to be certain.

But I cannot hold Sarah Palin accountable or anserable for what George W Bush has done.  I would hold the nation as a whole responsible, for we are the ones that allowed it to continue.

We must break the system of candidates being presented to the American voters as valid candidates only if the party and the MSM approves of them.

As to the per capita spending, one needs to drill down to get to the truth.  Per capita spending can be misleading. DC gets  $68,000 per resident, and we know that the residents do not get that.

"Per capita spending can be misleading. DC gets  $68,000 per resident, and we know that the residents do not get that."

Of course not; the local government gets it. Which, in Alaska, means Sarah Palin's government. Thanks in part to that subsidy, Palin's been able to keep most state taxes down (which she's used to claim some small-gov't cred), while spending the largest budgets in California history -- including the half-billion handout to build her untendered pipeline, because no private firms will refinance it.

And of course she has increased taxes, dramatically, on the oil & gas industry (while using some of that money to subsidize Alaskans' heating bills). Last year, she tried to hit the industry for $750 million more -- the final tax bill passed by the legislature doubled that to $1.5 billion -- and she signed the bill anyway, saying that was "close enough." The result: the majors have virtually stopped drilling in Alaska, and Sarah Palin's threatening them with another tax hike this year unless they do more.

(That's another subsidy from the lower 48, BTW -- the oil companies don't pay those taxes, but just pass them on to the consumers.)

There's no way you can credibly call this Governor a "small government" Republican.

ej, if the Republicans are re-elected, it will very likely continue; and if the Democrats are elected, it will probably continue; and if you vote for either one, you will be partly responsible if it does.

That's a lot of the nation, but not the "nation as a whole" There are people out there sincerely trying to stop it -- Barr, Nader, Baldwin, even McKinney -- and you cannot hold them or their supporters responsible.

As usual, most people seem to be pro Sarah based on what they want to believe, what she looks like, what she sounds like. All I am asking is that you look at the facts and try to get the facts that aren\'t readily apparent -- no, not about her personal and family life. That\'s no one\'s biz. I\'m talking about her record and whether she really is for a constitutional amendment banning all abortion ( even if the mother\'s life is in danger), censorship of books, etc. Shouldn\'t someone ask?  And not assume small town gal = smaller government. Sher,

You can do that sort of research in a matter of minutes.  It's not that someone should ask, because then the allegations are endless and legitimate candidates are constatntly under attack defending themselves against the statements.

For instance, I searched Palin and Vetoes to see if she has used her veto power as governor.  Then I read the accompying news stories.

Thanks for the feedback,

EJ

George,

Let me answer the question in another way.  Look at what the people pay and what they receive as the true measure of what they are "getting" from the Federal government.  Then take away all of the money counted as going to Alaska that is for Federal purposes.

Alaskans pay just about what they receive without making those adjustments.  Alaskans may have received 12,885 per person, but they also paid 11,019 in Federal Income Tax per person.

The truth is different than the way it has been presented.

I am not saying she is not a good choice, but no one has concerns that she took money from for profit companies to give to the citizens of her state because those companies make too much money.  How anyone can see that and believe she stands for freedom is beyond me.

Corporations like individuals should keep the fruits of their labor.  Please explain how taxing one to give to another, who did no work for it, is in line with loving freedom?

One would have to know and understand the Constitution of the state of Alaska and how it relates to the recovery of resources there.

I do not know these details.  I do believe that the governor of the state has the responsibility to maximize their return on the sale of their resource.   The people of Alaska did not earn it.  They sold it.  It is called oil.

Giving it back directly to the people, rather than filling a government slush fund to be wasted, is also a choice I would make.

Personally, I believe all corporate income taxes should be eliminated.  Allow the profit to flow directly back to the shareholders and owners.  Tax it there.  Eliminate the corporate hijinx we see in business today via the corporate tax code.

Thanks for the feedback,

EJ

Apparently several are afraid of her but the lady that wrote this article is certainly not.  This is an open letter on the internet and something others should read.

Whoever would deal with the sinister cult of scientology: to take away it's tax exemption status and to bring the head of this criminal, totalitarian, anti-democratic organisation to book will get my vote.

The fundamentalist islamic threat is a well known phenomena. It wishes to 'convert' the world to Islam. Most people know and accept this knowledge and would like to see this threat halted. However in scientologists case, thanks in part to the PR efforts of it's more well known adherants, their ambitions, equally abhorent and dangerous to our democratic systems and laws, are not taken seriously.

Scientology is a creeping menace with aims to clear the planet  through infiltration of influencial bodies, as well as the destruction of all critics. Verifiable official and documentary evidence  has been available for a long time. Germany and France have the cult under constant surveillance and movement against it is progressive.

Either Democrat or Republican candidates must address this problem to prevent their eventual government being compromised.

The concept that public officials at the very highest levels of our government need no special skill or expertise in national and international affairs is indeed scary.    We don't want some Average Joe or Jill entering the cockpit of our airplane with little experience and expertise and trying to fly it.  We don't want our surgeon to be someone who was just recently tutored on surgical techniques.  We demand expertise out of professionals in every walk of life, but this writer believes that someone who might assume the Presidency can be someone with no skill or knowledge base whatsoever in international affairs can hold the fate of millions of our citizens in his or her hands.  How crazy is this notion.  Sarah Palin is a slick, ambitious politician.  She presents well.   However, she has no knowledge base with which to stand up to the many advisers who will seek to influence her..  She has shown a tendency to appoint friends and those with similar very conservative beliefs to posts as both Mayor and Governor.   This could be deadly on a national level.   Sarah Palin is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS as a choice for so important an office as Vice President..  We must punish John McCain at the polls for such a crass, political move to try to woo women voters.  McCain has lost regard and responsibility to his country in his lust to win the White House.. The fact that this pick was clever politically does not make it right when it comes to entrusting the Vice Presidency to a person who truly has the knowledge base and understanding of national/international issues to competently govern at this level.. If Palin, God forbid, ever gets into the White House and has the authority to commit us to a war against Russia as she said "perhaps" she might do under certain circumstances, this could lead to one of the worst nightmares in this country's history...

Roger,

Did we say the same about Carter or Clinton?

Here's something I was emailed....

Subject: Who Am I?

I am under 45 years old,

I love the outdoors,

I hunt,

I am a Republican reformer,

I have taken on the Republican Party establishment,

I have many children,

I have a spot on the national ticket as vice president with less than two years in the governor's office.

Who am I?

I am Teddy Roosevelt in 1900.

So Sarah Palin is not qualified?
