RNC Blows Off Its Own Delegates

For fear of being viewed as insensitive to Lousiana, the RNC has canceled most convention activities for Monday, leaving delegates and alternates with nothing to do.

Press and delegates from around the country converged on the Twin Cities to cover and attend the Republican National Convention.  None of them are  going to get the convention that they came for.

In case you haven't heard RNC has told delegates that most of Monday's activities have been canceled, and Tuesday isn't looking good either.  Why?  Because thousands of miles south, a hurricane may hit Lousiana.  If that doesn't make any sense to you, then you are with the delegates that I have talked to.   The delegates who are expected to vote to nominate John McCain won't hear from him as scheduled, and may not hear from him at all.  What kind of way is that to run a convention?

I don't feel too sorry for the press, because they are being paid to be here, and sometimes stories work out, and sometimes they don't.  The delegates (and alternates, and guests) on  the other hand have scrimped and saved to be here for this historic occasion as America prepares to select a president.  What will they get on Monday in place of speeches by the rising stars of the Republican Party?  Two hours of hastily pushed through approvals of commitee reports and a quick adjournment.

The Republicans can't control the weather.  On the other hand, they are amply demonstrating that they can take a bad situation and make it a lot worse.

In the midst of all of this bad news, there is a little bit of good news.  The Rally for the Republic is holding a free concert on Monday night, followed by the "main event" on Tuesday at the Target Center.  Every single delegate and alternate is welcome at both events.  Special VIP seating has been reserved for this high caliber event from 12:30 to 9:30 PM on Tuesday.

If I didn't know better, I would say that someone inside the RNC is bending over backwards to ensure that the launch of Campaign for Liberty is a success. Is it really possible that after months of vilifying conservative republicans who believe in Constitutional government that some in the RNC are conspiring to bring the party back to its roots?  Only time will tell.

Real freedom is this country's only hope! I will always support Ron Paul's campaign to free this country from the junta that controls it now. Freedom is so simple that is confuses the brainwashed media and their commentators. The only things the government is supposed to do is written in the Constitution, but these days the government seems to spend it\'s time doing everything EXCEPT what it is supposed to be doing. We are not supposed to be sticking our nose in everyone else's business; especially when we are in so much turmoil at home.
