Ron Paul Declines Third Party Invitation

Another vital step towards victory.

Republican Ron Paul has declined an invitation from a third party to accept their nomination.  Thank goodness his common sense prevailed.  Third parties are not viable vehicles for achieving results in national politics.

Political parties are tools for individuals to use in leveraging their personal values in government.  There are only two parties that have any influence in our government, like it or not.  Choosing to use an inferior tool like the LP at a time when our country desperately needs new leadership would indicate to me that Dr. Paul has abandoned his priorities and made this election about himself rather than about the drastic changed needed in the Republican Party.

If Dr. Paul accepted a third party nomination it would undermine his credibility, marginalize his supporters and free the GOP to continue on its march toward collapsing our economy through monetary policy and collapsing our country through the process of the well-trod path of an empire in decline.  Ron Paul is the only available remedy for this situation and the GOP is the only vehicle that can carry him to the presidency.

The more members of third parties who recognize the futility of their idealism and choose to pick up the most powerful tool available to them, the GOP, the better our future looks.  The more who choose to leave the GOP to the mechanizations of the liberal Republicans leadership, the neo-conservatives, the less likely it is that we will have much of a future at all.

Hooray for Dr. Paul for setting the best possible example with regard to third parties for this next election.  As a Republican, Ron Paul may win the GOP nomination.  If not, then as a Republican, he may be elected via the most incredible outpouring of write-in votes the nation has ever seen.  Having individuals, regardless of their party affiliations, write-in the Republican Dr. Paul come November enhances his credibility and propels his supporters to the forefront of the future of politics in our country.  By accepting the LP nomination, Dr. Paul would have cut himself off from much of his support base who wouldn't vote for a third party for any reason and those who would only vote for a specific flavor of third party due to their personal view of their principles.

Accepting a third party nomination would set Dr. Paul up as the fall guy for the coming GOP landslide defeat that awaits any candidate they run in lieu of Ron Paul.  The value of his message and of his enormous support base would be over shadowed in history by the blame heaped on Dr. Paul for 'stealing' votes from the GOP.

With a write-in campaign, the true value of Dr. Paul's message will be recorded and undeniable.  Win or lose, we MUST record Dr. Paul's support officially in the November election.  Going in as a third party candidate defeats this purpose entirely and gives us nothing on which to base future attempts at kicking the liberal leadership out of the GOP.  A political party merely reflects the views and actions of those who show up to participate.   The rest can sit and whine till the cows come home, their outrage wasted, their efforts thwarted and their country in the hands of power hungry elite who have no regard for we, the people of the United States of America.

Very well done, Dr. Paul.  Thank you for being a man of principle and conviction and for setting a wonderful example to all of the new-found libertarian conservatives who comprise your support base.  May the GOP one day be filled to the brim with these folks by your influence.

Include a "Thumbs Down" button! I swear, the LP is more concerned with strict ideological purity that winning! The idea that RP as a Libertarian would "marginialize his voters" would be hilarious if it was not so pitiful. Odd that those who decry our "two party" monopoly say the way to fix it is to do nothing. It's suspicioiusly GOPish - "PLEASE don't vote for those evil Libertarians since Hillary would win." That's the ONLY argument the other candidates make - Vote for me over Hilllary. Talk about intellectual debasement, not to mention dishonesty.

Ron Paul can only win if enourmous numbers of conservative Republicans vote for him.  They will not vote for him unless he is a Republican.  It isn't rocket science, it is just the way things work.  If Ron Paul's conservative Republican support base isn't 10 times the size of the new and temporary Republicans who are driving his grassroots efforts, he doesn't stand a chance.  He must be a Republican to get their votes.  It is that simple.

He would be better off retiring than running under a third party banner.  Third parties are simply not viable tools for change.  They serve a vital purpose but many people who belong to a third party have no idea what they should be using it for, what it is good for.

I refer to the third party members remind me of a kid who buys an Estes Model Rocket and thinks he is going to launch his cat to the moon.  Both have no grasp of the reality of the situation.  So instead of learning about rockets and enjoying repeated launchings in the backyard, the kids pout and cry that their rocket isn't like the BIG ones.

Third parties are great proving grounds for folks to learn the ropes of politics.  A lot of former third party members make formidable candidates when they finally toss out the model rocket and get involved with the real deal.  Once they are ready for the big time they jump into the real struggle for the control and direction of our government.

Ron Paul learned this in 1988, I learned it more recently.  We all  learn at our own pace based on our own experience.
