This is the third in a series of interviews with "minor party" Presidential candidates.
On Thursday August 14; I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Chuck Baldwin, Presidential Candidate for the Constitution Party.
Q - What do you hope to accomplish with your Presidential Campaign?
C.B. - The first thing I hope to accomplish is to win the White House. Secondly, is a return o a Constitutional government, freedom, independence, return to the principals of the Founding Fathers. All of these issues are being totally ignored by the two major party candidates and the major parties in general. If we do not return to a Constitutional government, we are going to lose our independence and national sovereignty and when we lose that; we lose our freedom and our liberties. And the two major parties seem to be fully willing to facilitate the loss of American Sovereignty, through these agreements with international entities, whether it's the North American Union, the NAFTA Super-Highway, of CAFTA, GATT, WTO, etc. that serve to compromise our own security and our own sovereignty, and if we don't bring this message to the American people, then no one will.
Q - Do you support the right of self-determination?
C.B. - Sure, I absolutely believe in that, it's self-government; and this nation was built upon the foundation of self-government.
Q - Do you support a Statehood/Independence vote for ALL US Territories?
C.B. - I'm not sure about that; I'd have to think that through, but I would not say that I support that, right now.
Q - Do you support equal ballot access for ALL candidates?
C.B. - Yes.
Q - What are your views on taxation?
C.B. - The less the better, I want to get rid of the 16th Amendment, I want to get rid of the personal income tax, I want to get rid of the Internal Revenue Service.
Q - Do you support a repeal of the 12th Amendment?
C.B. - I don't think I favor the real of that.
Q - Do you support the "Read the Bills Act"?
C.B. - Where Congress is required to read the bill before they vote on it? Yes, I do support that.
Q - Do you support the "One Subject at a Time Act"?
C.B. - Yes, I support that, as well.
Q - Do you support retroceding parts of DC to Maryland so that the District fits within the Constitutional bounds of "not more than 10 miles square"?
C.B. - Yes, I can support that.
Q - Do you believe that any elected official should be impeached if he/she violates the Oath of Office to "defend the Constitution"?
C.B. - Yes, it means that we would be impeaching the vast majority of the members of Congress.
Q - Do you support ratification of the "Congressional Apportionment Amendment"?
C.B. - I'm not sure I'd support that, I'd have to look at that closer before making a decision.
Q - Do you support the passage and ratification of the "Liberty Amendment"?
C.B. - I'd like to read it before being held to supporting this, but Dr. (Ron) Paul proposed it, I'm 90% certain that I'd support it. There are very few things that he supports that I would not support.

Good on you to give Baldwin this exposure, and good on him for agreeing and finding schedule room for the interview. I'm sorry I can give you only one thumb per article, as you deserve more in this case.
