Bob Barr Purposely Sabotages His Own Campaign Barr is dividing the Libertarian Party and shamelessly playing all who love and work hard towards freedom, for a bunch of saps.by Dan Steward

At the time I wrote my first article about Bob Barr, I gave no opinion as to whether I would vote for him or not. My thoughts were on keeping the Libertarian Party on the straight and narrow path that truly made us the "Party of Principle".
Our lack of deviation from clearly defined ideals of freedom is our strength and gave the party it's few, yet important, stepping stone election victories in the smaller contests.
Those minor triumphs at the polls still gave the LP standing as the third largest party in America. Those with nerve enough to blame the party's lack of election success on it's unwillingness to compromise itself have intentionally ignored reality.
Ballot access laws, were and still are more onerous than in most nations, set almost unattainable hurdles for the party to clear. The media, more a mouthpiece of government rather than it's pledged watchdog, ignored our candidates if not slandered them outright.
Refusing to move the LP to the "political right" didn't hamstring the Libertarians and it's the height of illogic and gross stupidity to even mention it.
With that out of the way, the Barr campaign has shown a disgusting pattern of actions that would lead this writer to believe nothing less than the fact that he has intentionally sabotaged his own campaign.
There can be no other explanation as he has taken the reins and seeks to drive the Libertarian Party into obscurity. Barr has ignored all successful money raising campaigns of the past and is not actively attempting to raise funds except on the internet. The tried and true methods of sending out actual mailings to prospective supporters is not being used.
He has not taken a real stand on any important issue other than to mouth empty and easily faked platitudes that any trained statist sycophant could effortlessly regurgitate.
When he does commit himself to a cause, it's to only embarrass the party by jumping into bed with the likes of insipid anti-capitalists like the dreaded Al Gore and his goofy environmental musings.
His choices for staffing intentionally excluded very capable Libertarian people and instead opted for such monkeywrenching hacks as a former Ross Perot campaign manager. A proven saboteur if one ever existed if anyone remembers the on again–off again, Perot campaign of the past.
Uncle Bob has still not proven to us that he actually espouses any real ideals of freedom and Liberty. He's just grinning as he drops the party faithful into the quicksand pit of embarrassment and humiliation.
Bob Barr has come not to praise the Libertarian Party, he has come to bury it.
With Liberty,
Dan Steward

I don't really need to "forsee the future". In fact, I'm not sure why you would care to put it in such a manner as that quite doesn't make sense to me.
Still, what is, indeed is. Barr didn't just do one thing to show us he's intentionally sabotaging his campaign & alienating Libertarians from their own party, he's done lots of things.
I don't blame anyone for not being able to add it all up. Fault also lies with the public school system for failing to teach folks simple addition.
Essentially you are repeating what David Nolan wrote. With the exception of throwing the aligation about destroying the LP. Sorry, but I don't agree. If they are then they arn't any more competent at it then they are at fundraising. My take is the LP will probably do better then average this year and will survive to be around in four years.
As I sugested to another write. Wouldn't your efforts be better spent supporting regional and local candidates. If you don't want to actively support Barr then don't but but you could be party building rather then party destructing.
To prove this you need to show motive, method, and opportunity. The opportunity's obvious: Barr calls the final shots in the campaign. And you're alleging a method, though I think you really don't have a clear picture of all that the campaign's done to date.
But what are you saying is the motive? Why in hell would Barr deliberately sabotage his own campaign? Doing that doesn't hurt anyone but him.

Historical correlation: Bill Buckley was CIA. Bob Barr is CIA. Consider Buckley's role in purging the Old Right in the 1950s. Skepticism of Barr is justified by this correlation. He may or may not be following a template, but is certainly not breaking that template.
Bob Barr is the Demopublican that Robert Ringer warned us about 36 years ago. Rupert Murdoch and his 4 buddies who together are the mass media, promoted Barr as an LP presidential candidate nominee to the exclusion of the others - this argument (I can get the LP media coverage) was used at the convention. Further, Barr only joined the LP after he was redistricted out of his Congressional seat which he held for 4 terms as a Republican. If you're a "newbie" and haven't heard of Robert Ringer, I urge you to read his "Restoring the Amerian Dream" published in 1979. Ringer predicted that the LP would fall to Demopublican infiltration in 50 years - and that was 36 years ago!
Barr isn't splitting the party and will not destroy the organization. The party has always been fractious as the anarchists will always eat thier own. Arm-chair generals will always accuse anyone they do not agree with 100% of being a plant or not 'pure' enough. What is the real issue? Libertarianism does not equate to anarchism. Get over it. Go join the Boston Tea Party and debate yourselves to death.
It drives me up the wall when people denounce Bob Barr as not being a real Libertarian and then these same people praise Ron Paul to the high heavens! (don't get me wrong, I myself am a Ron Paul supporter) But Paul has refused to leave the Republican party behind, clinging to some dismal hope that they can be brought back from the dark side. I for one think the Republican party is beyond redemption. Barr on the other hand has seen the Libertarian light and has totally left the Republican party. Stop cursing Barr for his past mistakes as a Republican and let him have the oppurtunity to be the Libertarian leader we need him to be! For better or worse, HE IS OUR CANDIDATE! There are enough people from the duopoly trying to tear our party aparty from the outside, STOP TRYING TO TEAR US APART FROM THE INSIDE!
What ever the motives or rationale, it certainly appears that Mr. Barr does not want to win or even run a vigourous campaign. I'd like to know what he really wants. Perhaps we are learning a lesson that we shouldn't jump into bed on the first date with the next "media darling" that comes calling. I state in my own column that we need a winning strategy and a winning candidate, which may mean we need to recruit a media darling, but in such case it should be someone known to the public, not just the media, and it should be someone who is a passionate standard bearer for the party, whether s/he has been a Libertarian for twenty minutes or twenty years.
