Obama's Iraq shell game Obama says he will pull our troops out of Iraq. But his web site says something completely different.by USAF Vet Dan

First of all, as a decorated vet I want to go on record that I opposed the illegal invasion of Iraq from the beginning. I believe both Republicans and Democrats violated their oaths of office by allowing Bush to violate the Constitution (break the law) by committing an act of war without a declaration of such by Congress. Furthermore, I believe all the WMD assertions were intentionally falsified (which is another criminal act) to sway public opinion in favor of the invasion. I find this exceeding appalling because it played on our collective post-9/11 fear. And finally, I believe both Republicans and Democrats have failed to correct this by continuing to approve funding for the illegal occupation of Iraq.
McCain has outwardly declared his imperialistic intentions to not only continue the occupation of Iraq, but also his willingness to unconstitutionally attack Iran. For this, and many other reasons, I vehemently oppose McLame.
With that philosophical background, I would like to declare my opposition to Obama, as well. On the Iraq Occupation issue, his web site says:
"Military experts believe we can safely redeploy combat brigades from Iraq at a pace of 1 to 2 brigades a month that would remove them in 16 months. That would be the summer of 2010 more than 7 years after the war began.
Under the Obama plan, a residual force will remain in Iraq and in the region to conduct targeted counter-terrorism missions against al Qaeda in Iraq and to protect American diplomatic and civilian personnel. He will not build permanent bases in Iraq, but will continue efforts to train and support the Iraqi security forces as long as Iraqi leaders move toward political reconciliation and away from sectarianism."
So, while Obama talks about "removing brigades", he still plans to keep our military there indefinitely... and without Constitutional authorization. When we say "bring the troops home", we are not calling for troop reduction, we're calling for their total withdrawal. The force that Obama references will still inflame Muslim anti-American sentiment which increases the terrorism threat to our country and our people... it will still place American soldiers' lives at risk... it will still drain our economy. Ron Paul was right on this issue (and all issues, for that matter).
As has been for many elections of the past, the RepubliCrats have given us "bad and worse" as our two choices - not only on the issue of Iraq but on all issues. Why?
It all boils down to who is pulling the strings. On Iraq, the military industrial complex pushed the agenda for their own profit (i.e., Halliburton). In fact, the overall agenda of the federal government is to cow-tow to the mega corporations (many are not even American) who control the media and the elections by way of their $millions in campaign donations. The very powerful Israeli lobby also pushed for the invasion of Iraq.
So all who are supporting Obama primarily because you think he'll get us out of Iraq should reconsider your decision. And all who support Obama regardless of your position on Iraq should question the integrity of a man who, like a true "politician", doesn't really mean what he says. No "change" here... just the same old status quo.
If we are to reverse this course toward the demise of our Republic, we must open our eyes and see if the Emperor is wearing clothes. On the issue of Iraq, it appears that Mr. Obama isn't wearing any.

Good article. I'm glad you're calling out the Dems on this issue, and I hope you can continue to do so throughout your campaign.
Voters for Peace recently expressed similar concerns. Not only is Obama proposing to leave as many as 80,000 American troops in Iraq, but he plans to "withdraw" the remainder to Afghanistan (where U.S. military strength will be increased) and Kuwait. See my article: http://www.nolanchart.com/article4342.html
You have to have a reasonable withdrawl. Any troops that remain, from my understanding, will be there only to train Iraq solders so they can fight there own war. If they show no interest in fighting their own battle, we will not be there at all. Our solders will not be there in combat but only for training purposes.
This is what has been recommended by those in top command and certainly their recommendations must be considered.
It's amazing how easy it is to go into war and so hard to get back out of one. Too bad that problem is not considered first.
Not as fast as I'd like to see it. I'd like all our people out tomorrow but my belief is Obama will end that mess faster than McCain would. Obama didn't want that war to start with.
The bottom line is that Obama is touting "bring 'em home" but his intentions are to leave 80,000 there. Obama offers no "change" from the status quo of double-talking politicians. So long as we have ANY troops there, we increase the threat of terrorism here.
Furthermore, Obama is complicit in the ongoing occupation of Iraq as he voted to continue funding it.
Will Obama pull the troops out quicker than "boom boom" McLame? Who knows. Because of Obama's little shell game of words, I don't trust him anymore than any of the other globalists' puppets.
It's time we stop supporting the RepubliCrat farse and vote third party. Both parties take orders from the same masters. ENOUGH!
