Today's DNC : Pimping Obama's Blind Optimism via Direct Mail It's bad enough that Barack Obama's 'change' for America has been undefined, but when the DNC utilize his bromides of blind optimism, the DNC becomes little more than a pimp selling his message one-on-one to registered Democrats for the benefit of the DNC treasury.by Emma Goldman

When it comes to the two political parties in America today, voters should just leave their money in their wallets and not give another dime to the DNC and the GOP. I'm sure the GOP will be pimping John McCain's blind patriotism soon enough, but for now, I want to slice and dice this solicitation letter sent by the DNC that has Barack Obama's name as its title.
Letter BEGINS - "Dear Friend,"
[Not quite, Mr. Obama, friendship presupposes shared values... so let's not jump to such presumptions on whom you're addressing]
"As Democrats, you and I are united by the great traditions of our party,"
[of what traditions do you speak? those mob intimidations and brute force tactics used during the New Deal era against those that spoke out against DNC collectivist plans? Or the mob intimidations and brute force tactics used by DNC members as anonymous WTO protesters of today?]
"(Democrats) are bound by (the Party's) longstanding commitment to social and economic justice for all of our citizens."
[unless those citizens are on the wrong side of a DNC talking point, in which case social intimidation and economic looting of those that disagree with the DNC is considered justice]
"As Americans, we share the hope that each generation can leave its children with greater prosperity and a brighter future than the one it inherited."
[As Americans, we know that the only way to prosper is to be left free to earn one's own future by one's own choice, and to keep the fruits of one's labor. As Americans, we know that if the state continues taking half of our productive lives in the form of overt and hidden taxes, that tomorrow will never be more prosperous for future generations.]
"When the commitment of the Democratic Party and the hopeful spirit of the American people come together, we have the power to change this country, and transform the world."
[Change this country in what respect, Mr. Obama? Toward more economic freedom, or less? Back to the Bill of Rights, or further away from them? Why is it my responsibility to transform the world, when I just want to reassert my right to transform my own life, without any government assistance whatsoever?]
"But to bring about the change we so desperately need, we have to overcome the forces of fear and division that the other side has made a central part of their campaign."
[One of the changes we need in this country is to see each other in terms of character, not in terms of race. I think the forces of fear and division are well represented by your 'former' pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright. We need to eliminate racist views in our own lives, and to help those around us expel these views from their own lives. Don't blame the GOP for views that span the membership of both parties.]
"To run a winning campaign that allows us to build a better future for this country, I need committed Democrats like you to rally behind our national party."
[No, you don't need my money going into the black-hole treasury of the greedy DNC party in order to win, Mr. Obama. What you need are the right ideas. We're waiting for the right ideas, Mr. Obama - we aren't expecting you or your party to 'build a better future'. Political party leaders don't build anything. All they do is talk, raise money, and sit back and drink lemonade on a beach somewhere in the Bahamas, and laugh every four years that dupes in their membership roster keep mailing them money.]
"You know that our country cannot afford to continue the narrow, special interest-driven politics that has stopped us from meeting the serious challenges we face."
[I know our country cannot afford to keep printing money from thin air to support the military industrial complex, the medical industrial complex, the housing industrial complex, the automotive industrial complex, the energy industrial complex, the educational industrial complex, the social security industrial complex, etc. We must deregulate our economy, sell off the government assets, pay back all social security benefits, with interest, eliminate the central banking monopoly that is the Federal Reserve, along with its siamese twin, the I.R.S. A total separation of government and economics is the only thing that we can afford, as a free country.]
"And I know you share my belief that the agenda offered by John McCain is nothing more than a continuation of the failed policies of the past. It's not the change Americans need."
[I know that the change Americans need is represented by Dr. Ron Paul, as he succinctly outlines in his 167 page book, "The Revolution: A Manifesto". In fact, if people read only Chapter 6 in that book, that would fairly well lay the groundwork for understanding exactly what we need in America, for a real change in the political agenda.]
"We owe our country a better future. We owe our children a better future."
[I don't owe another adult any part of my future. I don't owe anyone anything, except to honor their individual right to be left alone, so long has they do not harm me.]
"And so we must unite to bring change to America and chart a new course for our nation."
[I agree that we must unite around the principle of Individualism, and Individual Rights, if we expect to chart a new national course toward more freedom and less statism.]
"Working together, united around the values and principles that we share as Democrats, we can move beyond yesterday's politics - but only if our party has the resources to make our message of hope heard far and wide across this country."
[Democrats don't share any values or principles, outside of envy for rich white men. Democrats have always been united in destroying the productive giants and the wealthy in this country. I can't unite with Democrats along this destructive agenda any longer, Mr. Obama.]
"That's why I hope you will seize this moment of great opportunity for our party and our nation by rushing a generous contribution of $35, $50, or more to the Democratic National Committee today."
[That's why I won't permit the DNC to seize one more penny of my hard earned money, Mr. Obama. They are nothing but rich white men sitting on a beach somewhere, profiting off the envy of working class people in America.]
"My campaign has worked hard to organize at the grassroots and mobilize the energy and enthusiasm of people who, until this election, had never been involved in politics or hadn't been involved for a long time."
[Ron Paul's campaign also mobilized the energy and enthusiasm of young people (and young-at-heart people) in 2008 to get involved in politics for the first time. I respect both you and Dr. Paul for eliminating the apathy in millions around the country. But the choice is in accepting your message of blind optimism, or in understanding Ron Paul's message of rational hope. I'm choosing Ron Paul's message, because it makes sense, and isn't blind to the hard choices we're going to have to make in this country, to ween ourselves from the government tit, and become Americans with earned pride once again, if we are to have a future of prosperity and freedom.]
"Now, our challenge is to keep these new voters engaged in the Democratic campaign."
[No, the challenge is giving these new voters honesty in the issues that America faces, and real choices as far as political candidates to choose from. But since neither the DNC and the GOP are offering real choices in candidates in the general election, this particular voter is going to choose neither the DNC nor GOP nominee for President in 2008. I'm going to wait and see who's on the ballot on Nov. 4th before I decide. I may write someone in if I don't like any of my choices. That's the type of indepedence these new voters must have, if America is to survive the stupidities of the old two party system.]
"Today, Democrats are winning all across the country - even in the so-called 'reddest states' - and Party Chairman Howard Dean and the DNC have helped make it possible."
[Actually, people are fed up with the violations on civil liberties and the ridiculous growth of government we've suffered under the Republican leadership from 2001 to 2006. They are voting Democrat in response to their dissatisfaction with the GOP, not because of any genius in the DNC strategies or its Party Chairman.]
"Building on this winning 50-state strategy, I am working with the Democratic Party to launch a groundbreaking effort called the Campaign for Change."
[Sounds a lot like the Democrats are trying to copy Dr. Ron Paul's successful 'Campaign for Liberty' effort, to unite individuals who are dissatisfied with the direction the country is going. Except that he's got more than 80,500 supporters in his campaign, compared to the DNC (or the GOP).]
"Make no mistake: it will require an enormous amount of resources to build the national grassroots movement that is at the heart of our Campaign for Change."
[Make no mistake: It only requires an email address and a zip code to join Dr. Ron Paul's national grassroots movement that is at the heart of his Campaign for Liberty.]
"But if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this campaign was the moment when we came together to forge a better future for our great nation."
[I'm not interested in forging a better future for a nation at the expense of its individual citizens, Mr. Obama. There is no future for a country when it continues violating the rights and earned property of its individual citizens. That's why I'm on Ron Paul's side, right now. Because the DNC and the GOP have failed to talk about the real issues that need to be changed in America.]
"This is our moment. This is our time. Our time to turn the page on the policies of the past. Our time to bring new energy and new ideas to the challenges we face. Our time to bring real change to the country we love."
[Hell yes, My Dear Mr. Obama! And the only person I've seen offering new ideas as distinct from both the DNC and the GOP has been Dr. Ron Paul. You've been offering blind optimism, Mr. Obama, but Dr. Paul has been offering us a rational hope. That's who I'm siding with, for now. He's earned my trust, and you and the DNC have not, sir. But I wish you and your family a prosperous future, regardless of the campaign of 2008, Mr. Obama. Because we are all in America together, and we will all live and die by the freedoms or lack thereof, during the coming years.]

I love this article. Well said. The only thing I would change is to replace the word leaders with rulers. We don't have leaders in this country, we have rulers. Once I made that change in my own lexicon, my thinking was a lot clearer. I don't need anyone to lead me anywhere. I am just fine on my own.
I have just ended my 30 year relationship with the DNC. The ultra liberal idiots like BRAZILE, PELOSI, REID, DEAN, WEXLER, KERRY,KENNEDY ETC ETC have hijacked the party and handed it to Bam Bam. Bam Bam should have learned long ago that you are often judged by the company you keep. He will LEARN that in November when we voters vote for other candidates. we wont be voting for him - based on his associations and his constant change of position. on all matters- campaign financing, Nafta, FLORIDA/MICHIGAN votes - one half stinking vote thanks to him but now he is changing his mind on that too, Off shore drilling etc etc etc ... He is unfit for office period !!!
Good retort to each one of Obama's meaningless promises and/or blatant lies.
I especially agree that "we need to see each in terms of character, not race." I personally feel that Obama has a lot of personal issues and baggage yet to work through and this alone is a huge handicap.
I received a recorded phone message from the Obama campaign a few months ago, complaining that John Lewis, a "fellow black caucus member," was refusing to support Obama. The message then went on to list John Lewis's phone number to call and complain that he was not supporting a "fellow black caucus member" (this phrase was repeated throughout the message).
What does anyone's skin color have to do with their freedom of choice in supporting a candidate? Obama was insinuating that if another black person didn't vote for him, he had every right to feel wronged; to complain, bully and pressure that person until his mind was changed.
And guess what? John Lewis soon afterwards switched his support of Clinton over to Obama.
When Obama recently made the absurd suggestion that "checking your tire pressure" is the answer to the high cost of gas at the pump, you just know he's going to have brilliant, truthful solutions to all our economic woes. How sad that many people select their president for such shallow reasons, and how maddening that the media and Diebold select our president for us.
Emma I started to read you article but it was to much like ranting. But I wanted to thank you anyway since I saw the MoveOn.org ad by your article which is giving away One Million Obama buttons. Even the shipping of the buttons is free.
I don't know how long the ad will be up by your article so heres the link in case other voters believe in Hope too.
