Imagine a $240,000 Federal Reserve Note bon-fire at the Ron Paul Counter-GOP Rally in Minneapolis

For the near 80,000 supporters of Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty, imagine if each one contributed $3 for a highly-publicised "bon-fire against the central banking monopoly" in Minneapolis at the counter-GOP national convention rally.

Dr. Ron Paul, the 10-term U.S. Congressman, the gentleman of the Constitution, and a champion of Liberty in Our Time, who in 2008 garnered more than 1.2 million votes during his Presidential primary electoral bid, has scheduled his 'Campaign for Liberty' rally at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.

The event is scheduled August 31 to September 2. With a goal of achieving 100,000 supporters (by simply entering an email address and a zip code) at his website for the Campaign for Liberty (Link), Dr. Paul is almost 79% there. Which means as of today, he has nearly 79,000 internet supporters.

One of the top issues Ron Paul has pounded on during these past two years (while on his national election tour) has been the disasterous effects of the central banking monopoly we have in America.  The Federal Reserve, which isn't federal (about as federal as 'Federal Express' is the oft-quoted line), and has no gold reserves to back up the fiat currency in circulation throughout the world, was formed in 1913, along with its siamese (e.g. necessary) twin - the I.R.S.

From his recent bestselling, 167 page educational book that every American should read - "The Revolution: A Manifesto":

From Chapter 6 (brackets mine)

"First, consider the effects of inflation"  [inflation means too many dollars chase too few goods, and leads to general price increases]

"When the money supply is increased, prices rise - with each dollar now worth less than before, it can purchase fewer goods than it could in the past."

"All right, some may say, prices may indeed rise, but so do wages and salaries, and therefore inflation causes no real problems on net.  This misconception overlooks one of the most insidious and immoral effects of inflation: its redistribution of wealth from the poor and middle class to the politically well connected.  The price increases that take place as a result of inflation do not occur all at once and to the same degree.  Those who receive the new money first receive it before prices have yet risen.  They enjoy a windfall.  Meanwhile, as they spend the new money, and the next wave of recipients spend it, and so on, prices begin to rise throughout the economy - well before the new money has trickled down to most people.  The average person is now paying higher prices while still earning his old income, which has not yet been adjusted to account for the higher money supply.  By the time the new money has made its way throughout the economy, average people have all this time been paying higher prices, and only now can begin to break even.  The enrichment of the politically well connected - in other words, those who get the newly created money first: government contractors, big banks, and the like - comes at the direct expense of everyone else... The average person is silently robbed through this invisible means and usually doesn't understand what exactly is happening to him.  And almost no one in the political establishment has an incentive to tell him."

In my last article, "To Make our Dollars go farther, Shouldn't We Burn a Few?" (Link), I suggested that if it is true our funny money monopoly system is the root cause of price inflation (and not today's oil men - bless those hard-working, deep-drilling individuals), then perhaps burning one to  a few dollars everytime a new 'stimulus plan' or 'financial rescue' is announced in the news would be a proper way to deflate the dollar.

Now, imagine another clever money bomb, driven for example, by Trevor Lyman, or the Campaign for Liberty site, and this one is called the 'bon-fire against the central banking monopoly' money bomb.  Each person is asked for $3, which will be part of a staged bon-fire at (or during) the Ron Paul event in Minneapolis.  The goal would be 80,000 contributors, and we'd have to make sure the cash burned would be singles, so as to make it a great show for prime time TV.

I can hardly wait to roast those weiners.  See you August 31st in Minneapolis!

Sincerely,

Emma Goldman

Wouldn't we be doing something better by donating the money and burning equal-sized pieces of paper?  Just seems rather wasteful to burn a quarter of a million dollars.

Make it happen and I'm. I do like David's suggestion, though. But perhaps burning actual cash would have bigger impact. Someone might want to check what laws that might break, though. Is it legal to burn U.S. tender without permission?

I'm pretty sure it is all they would need to arrest us. Isn't it illegal to deface, much less destroy, federal currency? Why give them the chance?

Yes!!  Burn them.  That way my already devalued cash account will raise 0.001% because less dollars are on the market.

The idea is admirable, but ultimately stupid and useless from a practical standpoint. While the money theoretically doesn't have any value, it is still accepted as legal tender from a societal standpoint. You will not change this country by burning FRNs, you will only succeed and scaring people away from the cause.

Boy, I can see the media having a field day with this one!  The elite get the benefit of the currency in exchange for a signature and a promise, and, then, when the little guys, trying to rid themselves of the oppression of the elite, get their hands on the currency through hard labor, they burn it!  That'll show them!

Why not use the currency to see how much silver you can buy with it.  That will put some pressure on the manipulated precious metals markets.  Put the silver in a pile for all to see, and burn a pile of paper of equal mass to the Fed notes used to purchase the silver right along side.  Then, distribute the silver back to the donors.  That will get your point across, and nobody will be out their value.

Fight fire with fire. Issue a press release first explaing how it is making themoney left in circulation more valuable whereby everytime Bernake prints bags of money to auction off over seas your money is getting way more devalued. $240000 is a good bargain for the amount free press you will get out of it. Tell the press that the Pentagon/CIA does not have to account for billions a year , maybe they are burning it as well. Hire a crack head to start the fire or train a monkey to flick a bick wearing a Bush mask. DR, Paul's book will then get its 15 minutes of fame, which the jewish medias will find impossible to keep the lid on. I am not bashing religions. I call it reality. You guys are getting shafted with the election choices of the 2 monkeys made available to run your potentially great country. Come on, I just about choked on my cornflakes when I saw Mccain and obama in a jewish beanie hat. I dont like to blog like this. It only puts my life endanger for no reason if no actions are taken against the root of all evil. which is the fiat/usary monetary system. I say step outside of the box and burn a little now or dump trunk fulls later. unckecked inflation= Zimbabwa. Make Bernake and Bush choke on their cornflakes watching the news is worth $240000 alone.THe US should bementally prepared to go down like Russia did. The banks will get property for pennies on the dollar. Hit bottom and rebuild economy like Japan with zero percent loans. Dream on or burn three bucks. Be brave.

Emma; Thanks for your stiring article on Ron Paul. Many of are still hopeful he will win the day. He seems to be the only qualified candidate sincerely interested in this nations future. Can you imagine payment of interest to the tune of $1.2 Billion dollars a day. Thats three times as much as the war is costing. Write in Ron Paul is still my thing. Do you know who it is we are paying? Federal reserve Fraud is an interesting Google.

I'm an aspiring organic micro-farmer needing money for seeds, irrigation equipment and land rental.  I am totally about sound currency and voted for Dr. Paul in Illinois, 10th district, however since this fiat currency is still accepted as legal tender I'd ask for those whom wish to be burn their $3.00 to please send it to me so I can rebuild my community strength through local agriculture.

Unfortunately our system does not differentiate price increases from too much money being printed and price increases because of changes and fluctuations in both supply and demand.

While every price increase is considered by some to be an indicator of a weak currency, the rise in the price of oil has not been due only to a weak dollar.  And there is no calculation available to determine what part of the increase is due to a weak dollar and what part is due to increased demand and what part is due to reduced supply relative to that demand.

European inflation rates are as high if not higher than the U.S. So much for a strong currency reducing inflation rates.

I think we should do something crazier like burning the equivalent of the National debt or the cost of the war in monopoly money.

Not a good idea. While the dollar consistently loses value, it still has value.

Educating neighbors and friends about our monetary system would be more affective then a FRN bon fire.  If the bon fire received any media attention at all, it would probably be mockery.

Should the dollar hit hyper-inflation, and the government decide on a new currency (e.g. Argentina), then you can burn all the dollars you want (or save cotton and recycle).

I have a great idea... Instead of burning $240,000, send it to me! I will in turn put it to its intended use. Circulation.

Actually, the ide above that I liked the best was to build a pile of Monopoly money equivilent to the National Debt or the cost of the war. Problem with that, of course, is that the play money would cost as much as the actual currency at this point! LOL

I understand the sentiment behind this idea but it\'s a dumb idea because it\'s just the reverse of printing money and will only make Ron Paul supporters poorer.

Why not use that money to pay for a marble statue of Ron Paul? That would be nice to see. The only question is where would we put it?

Since the FRNs are counterfeit anyway, why not make our own counterfeit money to burn in effigy? Half of them could have McLame's face on them / the other half Obamaniac's. People could buy the "liberty phony's" with FRN phonys. Let's see... what to do with all those FRNs... I know!!! They could send them to the Committee to Elect Dan Druck!!! Its currently in debt for legal fees fighting the RepubliCrats in Illinois for ballot access third party candidates. Dan Druck Druck for Congress Illinois' 14th Congressional District www.TimeForDan.com

Gee. One more way to get yourself labelled 'kook' or nutcase.

We have to fight the system by changing it not by self destructing. The bills are money - money that loses value by the minute, but money all the same.

The best would be to declare that you are all going to buy GOLD and announce that to the world.and see the central banks squirm

It would be the best $3.00 I ever spent. In fact I would see you $3.00 and raise you $60.00. It's my small way of making up for those who wont give. Like Todd the Canadian said "burn a little now or dump truck fulls later". It would be a masterful exercise in civil disobedience. It would also be daring and unique enough to get widespread media coverage. Of course we would have to be prepared for the MSM to vilify us for not doing the "right" thing and giving the money to charity. Of course the fact that "he that owns it has the right to determine what happens to it" may not have occurred to to those idiots. All this at less than the cost of one national TV commercial. I love it!!
