eBay Private "Posse" Does What Cops Refuse to Do.

Private citizens step in to protect Ebay collectors from fraud. A job that cops refuse to do. Just what good is law enforcement anyway?

Private collectors noticed the lack of police involvement when bogus items touted by internet auction house AuctionDepotLA appeared too good to be true, eBay prices notwithstanding. Bidding on such bogus items such as, a dagger from "Gone with the Wind" which sold for over $700. Also bids were taken on what was presumed to be a birdhouse from "Lord of the Rings", which turned out to be a fake purchased from a Big Lots store, as well as other items from Hollywood history.

They were "unable to persuade" police that a crime had been committed and no investigation ensued.

To make matters worse, the FBI has the audacity to spawn an alphabet vampire offshoot of it's own to give the illusion that it's funding by our confiscated taxes is actually solving the problem. Indeed they are not solving the problem. They named this villain, The Internet Crime Complaint Center or IC3 in collusion with another publicly funded federal monstrosity known as The National White Collar Crime Center. They do nothing to help and have demonstrated no immediate plans to this writer that they have any intention to do so. Perhaps because they will be paid the same amount of stolen Government largess if they don't work to recover funds than if they did.

They claim to "jointly administer" the IC3 but according to their spokesman, Craig Butterworth, "Our speculation is that the 'posse' mentality can take care of these situations better than the host can". Which we all know is Lazy Copspeak for "Glad they are doing something about it, because we just don't care and refuse to lift a finger to do anything. You know it's not like they defrauded US."

Public law enforcement differs in a very major way from that of say, a private detective hired to recover your stolen funds. You can fire a private eye if he can't get the job done. Your partnership with him is dissolved if he is too lazy to do his job he is hired for. How about the FBI? Local police? Fat chance!

You are stuck with them and just for an extra kick-in-the-head, you can't easily get them fired for giving you an extra kick in the head. Should you object too loudly and appear to be even slightly "menacing" to these layabout lawmen that are breaking up your stickball game in the street, you'll get pain for your efforts.

In an earlier article I noted that you are solely responsible for your own safety and can't rely on the law to be responsible if they fail to protect your person from harm. It's more than obvious that you can't depend on them to protect you from fraud as well.

You may ask, "Well isn't that what they get paid for?". Yes, but they abandoned their posts long ago. We are on our own, my friends.
