All the events are lining up for 2012:
1) Collapse of the Federal Reserve currency - aka, the American 'Dollar'. Depression sets in, but government controlled media never uses the term.
2) Continuing rise in unemployment in USA. Real USA unemployment rates almost twice as high as published Labor statistics. People suspect the government lies to them to larger degrees than before.
3) Continued undeclared wars in the middle east, against Iraq and Iran, two countries that had historically refused to buy America's inflationary currency with oil profits. People are aware that these are wars for economic subjugation, not to eliminate Islamic terrorism.
4) Continuing energy crises in USA with rolling blackouts due to failing electrical infrastructures and lack of new construction projects. People become aware that the environmentalists have been responsible for preventing new oil exploration and refineries, for preventing new nuclear power plants. People turn away from today's environmentalist clubs like Sierra club.
5) Continuing rise of taxes on Americans, from mill levies to income taxes to sales taxes to the most harmful hidden tax: inflation. Instead of 45-50% socialist, America will probably be 60-65% socialist by 2012. People are poorer than ever. People come to understand the difference between socialism, fascism, and capitalism.
6) Continuing decline in innovation (technological) leadership. China declares independence from Dollar. Both China and Russia continue deceits of appearing as 'democratically free countries' with 'human rights', while harming and murdering billions. People start to become aware that America still has mortal enemies that aren't Islamic in ideology.
7) American local, state, federal government abuses continue to harm its own 300 million people. Oppressive tax burdens along with IRS seizures of property continue mounting, while passage of HR 1955 "Homegrown Terrorism Act", in conjunction with prior Patriot Act, along with use of FBI National Security letters permits government to jail any "wrong spoken" activists without formal charges, without counsel, and for indeterminate amounts of time. Secret tribunals are reminiscient of 'star chamber' proceedings during medieval inquisitions. The legislatively undeclared war (but publicly promoted war) on Terrorism is waged just as fiercely in the Homeland as it is abroad, but not against bomb makers, rather against 'tax evaders'. People start to become aware that the IRS abuses of the 90s never went away, but only found allies in the new homeland security departments.
8) Food riots break out as commodity prices continue to rise. Ethanol scam continues diverting arid land to be used for vehicle fuel, not food. People start to become aware that this is an immoral idea.
9) People want desperately to find answers from the politicians... but politicians reveal how completely incompetent they have always been, in terms of running any economy throughout history.
10) A man steps forward, surrounded by patriotic CIA and FBI and Secret Service agents (who can't be bought off and are staking their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to the cause of freedom), to offer a simple three step plan for getting America back on the right track:
a) Issue a Constitutional competing currency, backed by hard assets.
b) Make 2 to 6 year plans for disassembling Federal departments that do not involve defense of individual and his property and contracts.
c) Later, disassemble the banking cartels. Probably have to jail some people not only for punishment, but for protection of their rights not to be lynched by mobs.
11) Americans hear this "Zorro 3", and begin to understand that the entire problem of America over the past 100 years has been simply that lazy and envious Americans expected government handouts. People are asked to give up their government handouts in exchange for the pure economic freedom of capitalism. "Zorro 3" is elected to President in a landslide.
12) Events proceed rapidly toward freedom as planned. Everyone from the citizenry to the legislature, to the judiciary, to the executive branch, to the bureaucrats proceeds on their own self-interest to make America the moral country it should've been from the beginning: A country founded on the principle of separation of the government and the economy. Bureaucrats have ample time for retraining and to transfer to the private economy. No one is unnecessarily thrown out into the streets homeless and jobless.
13) America finally wins its war for independence from the "ancien regime". "Zorro 3" ends his first term with a 'flip-them-the-bird' gesture upon ending his state of the union address. Zorro 3 then holds up a sign to the TV cameras: "Fuck Off Racists"
14) Americans vote for "Zorro 3" in 2016 in a landslide victory... but does he accept it, or does he have his own business of prosperity to attend to?
I'll agree with Logical Premise, who said in his article (here), that a successful libertarian-type of candidate must run on "A platform that doesn't scare the shit out of people"
This article demonstrates whom people might choose to elect if they already are scared shitless. We'll be needing a man of principle and reason, who's offering real plans for freedom rather than fake hope. We just need to have "Zorro 3" in place to promote the right ideas when the time comes.

Disappointing how this hasn't received any attention. I guess it's just such a logical idea that libertarians must ignore it at all costs and continue about their "doom and gloom! Socialism will destroy you!" rhetoric.
